The pin “2 + 2 = 5” may be referring to/associated with Orwell’s novel “1984” which was published in 1949. That seems to be the era most of these toys originated in. The logic was a control tactic by “the Party” in the book. Worth a read esp in todays crazy times! Maybe the pin was a giveaway with the book.

I remember 77 Sunset Strip show! Yes I'm that old. We live in my late parent's home and it's hard for us to get up in the unfinished attic. The paper products are likely toast from mice, but there should be old toys and stuff. They were sentimental. I need to bribe some family to squeeze up there, my cap guns are up there!

My Mom raised my sister and i without a father. She did the best she could but she could not afford
to buy us those Fancy Name Brand Six Shooters. But I was quite happy with the plain cap guns she bought me.
I took good care of mine and never broke them. My favorite was a Die Cast German Luger that took
    Big Bang Roll Caps.
One day I took one entire roll of Big Bang Roll Caps and put it on the concrete and then I smashed down hard
with a Hammer. Holy Cow!!!!! It made a HUGE BANG. My ears were ringing for a half hour, and i got yelled at, haha.

I had an Annie Oakley cap gun as a kid. Caps came on a long, red, coiled strip of paper with tiny dots of what I assume was real gunpowder. When the hammer struck the cap hard enough, there was a bang. Being curious, I wanted a close-up view of the process. I held the red paper tightly between my thumbnail and index finger, and repeatedly scraped the gunpowder dot with my other thumbnail. You guessed it ... after several attempts the charge went off. I am now 70 yo and still have a scar on my thumb. :)

As a young teen, I saved loads and loads of bottle caps. We would even go to the stations or stores and see if the owner would let us have them when they emptied from the soda machines. I see yours had a cork lining. Often times during a special promotion, you could pry up the cork and there would be something underneath indicating you had won a prize. 2+2=5 button made me do some googling. Interesting reference regarding Radiohead song and future Orwellian future (1984 for instance) suggesting that the powers that be can spoonfeed us false information under the guise of it being true so much and so earnestly, that everyone begins to believe it completely. This was my synthesis from my reading, check it out. I find it surprisingly relevant today!

20:30 The Alberta Safety Council still exists. My husband works for them doing motorcycle training. When we were kids, the ASC would set up bicycle-training courses ("The Pedal Pushers") in local community spots. You would attend evening sessions (usually in school parking lots) and learn safety skills for bike riding. When you passed the course, you got that little license to hang on your bike seat. Good times! (This was in the 1970s.). I assume it was across Alberta.

Thank you so much Alex for sharing this video! You brought back so many wonderful memories from my past.
My grandmother used to have bubble lights on her ALUMINUM Christmas tree back in the 1960s. And there would be a light behind the aluminum Christmas tree turning. And it had blue, yellow and red panels on it shining on the tree. You would have all the other lights turned off in the room and the aluminum tree would turn these three different colors and they would reflect off of the tiny fronds of the tree. And the bubble lights just made it look beautiful to a 5 year old girl. ( My grandmother born in 1915 had had this tree since my father was a little boy and he was born in 1945. My niece born in 1993 now has this tree and she has pictures of her daughter under this tree and she was born in 2020 her grandfather is my brother the one who had the GI Joe he was born in 1967 so now four generations have had this tree 🎄)
My brother and I both had cap guns to play with whenever we were little kids. My brother got the GI Joe with the Kung Fu grip back in 1971 for Christmas and I got the Barbie doll when I was six. We both liked comic books whenever we were kids I liked the Archie books and he liked Spider-Man. We had tinker Toys cars and trucks to play with as brother and sister on our country farm. I just wanted to say thank you that you opened up a box of nostalgia for me and possibly a lot of other people, too.
God bless you, Alex 😇. I cannot wait to see what the next video adventure brings! 😄

That was an awesome lot. I love seeing old toys like that. They were a little before my time but they were fun to look at. I'm new to your channel but I'm really loving it.❤️🙏

Oh my goodness 77 Sunset Strip- I had a huge little girl “crush” on Kookie- I must’ve been 5 years old lol. Look up the song “Kookie, Kookie, Lend Me Your Comb”! What a treat to see the game. One never knows what you’re going to share with us. Love it.

The reason for the condition is because kids “actually” played with them. They were very loved. ❤️

Wow, brings back some memories, I had a G.I. Joe when I was a kid back in the 60's. Had a Tonka Toy U-Haul truck with the trailer. I remember Newberry's, Woolworth's use to go to Newberry's at the soda counter and get a pop or Root Beer Float when I lived in Spokane Washington growing up. Thanks Alexander for taking me on a nostalgic look back at my childhood. As always, "Enjoy The Adventure." 😃👍

You find the neatest things!! The GI Joe was amazing. This is going to make me sound old but to even be able to look at GI Joe and Barbie, we had to drive an hour to the mall. To have all the unopened packets of accessories would be so cool. Just being able to buy one packet on a shopping trip would be awesome. I love looking at the past. It’s calming to me. lol

Very cool Alex!! Loved the GI-JOE stuff!! Really neat!! Hope your week was good and you guys all have a great weekend!🌻🇨🇦🙋🏻‍♀️
P.S, I talked to my brother a couple days ago and he said it almost feels like spring there atm!!! But as much as we would LOVE it; We definitely need more snow for the droughts, here in sask we’ve had more snow this winter than in the past three years and then a few before but we really need the run off badly this year. So even though I’d like to get out of the house on my own, I think it’s still a ways away. Not as long as when I thought about spring every day of nov&dec&most of January though LOL.

Howdy Doody time with Buffalo Bob and Claribell the clown. Sitting in the peanut gallery! I can still sing that introduction to the show's song. I was born in 1941 and can sing most of the commercials, 77 Sunset Strip and Cookie, Cookie lend me your comb. He was always combing his hair and the girls would sing that song and go wild. My dad used to say if they could put math to a song I would be a wiz at it. So many fun memories when you take me back with all of your antiques. I am an antique! lol Thanks for the fun video!

I loved all of this! I remember the little metal clickers. We always had those when we were kids. And I think about them all the time. I bet they had to discontinue them because they were dangerous. I would love to have that alligator one. I remember Avery long long long time ago my favorite one ever was a frog. And those cap guns. Loved them. Love the smell of them. What memories you gave me today. Thank you so very very much. Just awesome. Thanks for sharing it with me. It was great. ❤️😘💞💞💞💞💞🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🌞🌞🌞🌞✌️👶

My Mom used to watch 77 Sunset Strip. It came on after my bedtime but I can still hear the theme song. That ticket with "quinella" written on it is a betting slip from the track - pick the first and second place horses in the race. And yes, I'm old enough that I watched Howdy Doody and Buffalo Bob on the black & white Dumont TV.

I'll never get, how people can be so 'uncurious', that they wouldn't inspect the attic and go through stuff, after buying an old house.
Even if I didn't expect to find something valuable...I could never resist the temptation!
