    Shows how far the US came at the time this was posted. Jesse Owens won 4 gold medals at the Berlin Olympics, but came home to sitting on the back of a bus, and taking second place in social circumstances.
    He's a hero in much more than the obvious sporting sense.

    God bless this legend's soul. He won 4 Olympic gold medals and came back home to a shitty country like the "Good ol USA" to prejudice, segregation and worked regular jobs to make ends meet and didn't make a dime of his celebrity like most Olympians do nowadays!

      Jesse on Luz, "It took a lot of courage for him to befriend me in front of Hitler.… You can melt down all the medals and cups I have and they wouldn’t be a plating on the 24-karat friendship I felt for Luz Long at that moment. Hitler must have gone crazy watching us embrace. The sad part of the story is I never saw Long again. He was killed in World War II."

      Mohammed Ali (then Cassius Clay) was treated the same way in the US after winning the boxing gold medal at the 1960 Olympics. He was told at a restaurant that "we don't serve niggers".

"ghetto" talk is derived from a lack of formal education and the environment you grow up in. growing up in queens i used to speak with ghetto slang, nothing wrong with it, still do with my friends. but after going to university i experienced a huge culture shock - nobody talked like me and everyone assumed i was dumb just because of my diction.

    It’s regrettable that he won 4 gold medals 🏅 instead of 3 in Berlin. German officials refused to allow the two Jewish members of the 4x100 relay team to compete and Jesse at first refused to take place in it, but was forced to. He always regretted that the original two men weren’t allowed to run 😐

      @@TJsMusicUploads I didn’t say there were no Jewish athletes in the entire Olympic Games, but on that day, with the Hitler in attendance and Owen’s having won 3 golds already, they were specifically told that the two Jewish members would not be permitted to compete. The Nazi party hated blacks as well, but their intolerance of Jews superseded that. It’s well documented.

      He did he won 4 gold medals, it was legendary. He was treated much better in Berlin than he was ever in the US, Hitler didn't snub him, FDR was the one who did that. He confirms this in his autobiography and interviews. Makes one wonder what else we have been lied to about.

      Southern Nordic you do know that Germany had never seen a black person? And also he was on the usa team, it was not him traveling to Berlin by himself.     Read a kid's book about him and it is so sad what all he went through after all the glory, had mediocre jobs, and was exploited until he died. Not to mention not being able to eat with his white teammates. There was even a story where there was a diner that didn't allow Blacks so his white teammates bought extra food and brought it out to the car and the owner or manager came out and grabbed the food from them and dumped it on them. How anyone can be full of that much hate I will never understand.
