    What a man. What a role model. What a spiritually evolved human being. Born the same year as my own father-also an amazing man of the highest integrity.

    I love how people talked back then. Owens was so well spoken and sounded well educated.

      In my opinion I think it was because Education was everything before. Where close to none have never taken it for granted because it was treated as a necessity, and not everyone was fortunate to have the opportunity to go to school.

      @@malikevans2615 Well let's see, he's speaks very clearly and with proper grammar. He has a wide vocabulary range based on his choice or words and the fact that he doesn't need to resort to "filled pauses" (overusing words such as "like", "so", "um", "you know" to keep the flow going). He conducted himself very professionally and was direct in his responses. He shared some words of wisdom for us to hear his prospective. Just listen to him speak is like a breath of fresh air.

      @@pcr9253 I think it's more likely that he did it for the country he believed in. He believed in the root ideals of the United States and that is made clear in his winning statements in 1936. The most emotional part of the event for him was when his country's flag was raised and their anthem played.
      Even in this video, he states in no uncertain terms how proud he is of his country.
      He may be wrong, he may be right. But you cannot say he wasn't patriotic.

    The racism he endured in his own country I'm sure more than fueled his drive and determination. But here we are in 2023, that racism hasn't gone away in the US in the least though, has it? 87 years later. The more things change...

    • @everett8811
      @everett8811 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you think racism is anywhere near what it was back then you are delusional. By claiming that we are a racist country still today you are causing division. Racist things happen but racist country we are not everyone lives by works plays go's to school with so many people of color around them you can't even count. All the people of color I have in my family or work with or have known my entire lives are doing great and they have not fought some battle against racism all their lives. They don't believe that. But I hear alot of WHITE people talking about how bad racism is. Kinda backwards.
