The ships are in different classes. Making judgements for your fleet based on pre-release metrics is a mistake. Buy ships you like, and don’t try to chase the current “meta” as it’s guaranteed to change.
I like the F8C, but I do like the Hornet MkII. Both perform like a dream and have firepower to bare. I assume that is why the UEES Navy uses Both at the same time.
Light-arrow medium-F7A heavy-F8C i'll keep them all, with the mkII having the unique ability to use 3x ADB s4 on a medium fighter with high g's is in itself worth it to me.
I did it, melted my F8C to get this and have a bunch of credit left over. Hornet just looks so much cooler than Lightning. If I change my mind then I'll dive into the buybacks but so far I'm happy with decision.
I like the f8. I also like having $300 store credit for bigger ships... I picked up a hornet mk2, but I'm on the fence... I'm going to take it into arena commander tomorrow but might melt it ultimately. Spending this much on fighters when that could go towards an Orion and earn it in game... Idk
That's something that CIG is working on for their new Atmospheric flight model where all of the control surface stuff is actually what's moving the ship with Simulated Aerodynamic things and such!
Test fly it for a while first, especially in atmosphere. Nobody knows if they are going to change it but if you want something that flies better than an Aurora in atmo, this isn't it, at the moment anyway.
Planning on sticking with the Gladius, Hornet F7M Mk1 (soon), Hornet F7M Mk2 (soon) and F8 Lightning. The Mk1 will probably be a trophy ship, but the others have different roles imo, and are worth having around for single seat fighters. I melted an Ion for the Mk2.
The F7C is a prettier ship, has a good immersion factor, which my F8 does not, is streamlined and just not meh like the F8. F8 is just cheesy, messy design and dated. The F7 desigbn has been elevated into 2024., the F8 is just looking its age. Melt the F8, i will.
CIG has released half-baked and outdated fighter once again. Try placing turret on it and see how it looks like. Everything spiced by a little power creep, but this time they fucked up. This ship is awfull, I don't know how someone could replace F7C MKI with it, let alone F8C. Cockpit visibility is ruined by two bars. There are only 2 MFDs. Double size 4 have been already changed to double Size 3. Ship has alot of drift and average acceleration and its not so fun to fly like F8C, which is more tanky and has more range.
For my preferences;
F7MKII for Short range/Carrier based operations
F8 for medium range
Vanguard for extreme range or multi-day trips.
I prefer it because I have always preferred how the hornet looked, but the f8 has over double the hp and waaaaay more range

Short answer, no. However, I'm not married to my ships. The Mk2 is a lot of fun.
Since I will have carrier platform for F7C, yes, it will replace F8C in my fleet. Otherwise I would leave F8C because of range. Very nice vid man.

Hard to believe the Orion was nearly the same cost as the F8.

Its g S3 or f S4 that thing is a beast... for 2 seconds then it needs to recharge
Where are you getting the wing mounted weapon size change? Everything says S4.
