Welcome to 10 minutes More or Less ship review for the Anvil F8C Lightning! In game version 3.24.1.
Eight guns and One pilot.
This is using update 3.24.1, the F8C Lightning when available is priced at $300 on the pledge store (store credit) or $260 war bond (cash), at this current time it is not obtainable in game... yet.
This is the ship you get when you pledge for this ship or if you get it in game.
This review is of the STOCK ship.
This review is just my OPINION.
These reviews are typically around 10 minutes more or less if you don't count the intro with ship showcase and the end screens.
The bigger the ship, the bigger the review.

I still prefer my Scorp but I'll give the F8C this, she is the most beautiful single seater fighter in the game. Just gorgeous.
Nah. Origin 325a looks better. But isn't as good a fighter by a long-shot.
@@FrancisFjordCupola no way friend, no way. We may just have to part ways on this one. I prefer the sleek angles, shifting mandibles, aerodynamic profile, and lack of uni-wing of the F8C. Not to say the 325a aint a looker... though i prefered her older models over her newer one.

Definitely a Scorp girl here. HOWEVER when it comes to single seaters the lightning is quite good and good looking .

I won mine through a platinum ticket. It was a random chance. ME and a couple friends were just messing around and I read in chat that the event was on our server. I went just to participate and say I tried. Through dumb luck and sneakery I managed to run off with the ticket. I have the full story written down on spectrum. I have #40
I have an F8C and really love it, but everything you said is 100% spot on. It's not the best heavy fighter but it looks great and I'm never melting it because it looks badass. I remember seeing it on display at ILW a few years back and fell in love, I pounced on it when they did the first golden ticket event and got one.

@@Saudi50Cal a bit of a late reply here but the community generally agrees that the Scorpius with a gunner is likely the best heavy fighter. This comes down to its maneuverability for a heavy fighter and its dps. (As of currently meta can change quickly)

For those that just freaked out, that comes to a little over $25 a week for 11 years
It’s only $300 though lmao. I can’t see spending $10,000-$15,000 on ANY game. Especially if the devs plan on rewarding this to players who do certain challenges or complete SQ 42.

@@robertmandl9326 I mean you get access to the game. For you it’s more or less a flex. You get that nice meaningless title and you can boast as you are on YT as to how much you spent. I would never spend more than I have (roughly $200in total) on an alpha game. I don’t care who makes it. It has nothing to do with affordability and everything to do with the genuine uncertainty of the future of the project. If it happens to fall apart you’re out all that money hand you’ll likely cry foul. Then again humans love to gamble and this proves it.
@@jafo6250 and he’ll be the first to cry foul if the project just stops or gets canceled.but yeah “you spend that money bro!” Lmao!! It’s unreal to fathom that people dump that amount of cash into a project that has no release date in sight and hasn’t had one in the past 11+ years. Guess I’m just a realist here and I’ve seen devs drop their projects and run with the money.

I love this ship with all Dominant scatterguns against medium/large ships; was really fun in those large battle Xenothreat missions with three or more Hammerheads. It was still weak against fighters with that setup, but a good challenge
I still prefer the F7A2, but the sleekness of ghe F8C is still great. What I don't like about the F8C is there's too much going on visually in the rear of the ship. If it had much simpler shapes while retaining the overall idea I'd probably have pledged for one.
I also like to imagine that the F8C is the Anvil being influenced by Aegis Sabre.

I have one of these, and it's honestly so fun to fly around. Definitely has its quirks to figure out.

Guns are very widely spaced from wingtip to wingtip so convergence of the guns to all be hitting a small ship like an arrow was always a challenge for me. It was much easier to keep all shots on target against larger ships.
That goes with any ship, bigger targets are easier to hit.

Bear in mind that this is the c variant, that would be the regular consumer grade. It's not the a model the military grade attack. Like the difference we saw between the sea model of the f7 and the a model of the S7. Squadron 42 is supposed to grant access to the a model of the f8, but we shall see :-)
You should revisit the Gladiator! It got buffed
I plan on getting one in the future. I missed out on the last gold ticket event. I plan on trying to find one next event.
If you ask in game, someone might have a spare ticket you can have.
I honestly would trade some firepower for some maneuvering. Calling it the lightning and then having it be slow and cumbersome (especially with it having 8 main thrusters) just hurts my soul. Amazing looking ship tho just wish it was more of the space superiority fighter it was marketed to be.
I feel the SQ42 grant of the F8 will be a military version opportunity; not the Civilian ship we have today. There is a difference; and people seem to have been upset for the wrong reasons when the Civ version was sold
Yes, but the F8A night be an upgrade to the F8C like the F7A was for thr F7C.
currently i would upgrade the 4 size 3 to deadbolt 3 ballistic cannon and the 4 size 2 to attrition 2 laser repeaters. this way you maximize the energy while maximizing dps to 4704 or 5700 burst dps
I have one short term for the BIS skin in at IAE, but this puppy is mean. She will eventually get melted because 300 bucks is just too expensive for a heavy fighter, but I can't wait to earn one by playing S42. Besides, i have my $110 CCU'ed F7A MK II for fighter stuff and that's not that far off from the F8.

I like the F8C, but I think she underperforms a bit. Should have either better maneuverability to handle smaler fighters better or some more firepower to be more of a threat against heavier targets.
It's cool looking at least, I plan to get this through Squadron 42.
The f8 is such a stunning ship, but its really got me curious about this Mirai mystery. My first combat ship I ever flew was the Vanguard Warden, and I loved having an interior... That's what is missing from this ship for me.

When they released it, it was fast agile and hit hard, then after a couple of weeks it got "balanced" and lost it agility and some of the speed. Granted she still packs a punch if you can get on target.
That's CIG's MO, they drop something which had nice shields and firepower and then after everyone buys it, they nerf it.

I've been sitting on a golden ticket for months. If the rumors about the Corsair are true, I won't spend another dime on this game until they're finished completely screwing up the ships. I want to know what I'm buying. It's akin to going to a Corvette showroom and buying the top of the line Stingray then every few months the Chevrolet folks show up and remove or replace the best parts. "We know we sold you a top-of-the-line model but other drivers are complaining so we're just going to remove your V8 and replace it with this nice 4-cylinder we pulled out of an old Chevette. If you read the contract, it says we can do that. Oh, we're going to need that stereo system too! Don't worry, we have a new sports car coming out next month. It's going to be the best ever. Until it's not."

I still wish someone could tell me the use for more than half of the ships in game. In what situation would you ever really need small or heavy fighters? Almost everything in game requires you to have cargo space. A corsair or connie can just kill any of these "fighters" in a couple of hits. They really seem to be wasting way too much time on all of these ships nobody will ever bother playing.
I used to have one of these but melted it a couple of weeks ago. It's a gorgeous looking ship and it does a lot of damage but the handling/manoeuvrability is simply awful. I ended up going back to my F7A Mk II as it's just a much better ship for PvP. For PvE the F8C is simply awesome but for PvP it's absolutely horrible in its current state... this is obviously just my opinion though.

Im pretty sure S2 shields are arc shields not bubbleshields
I believe in 3.23 it changed over to bubble shields for most ships.

Christ I hope not lol been watching shit in this game for years finally decided to pull the trigger on a PC and the Corsair was gonna be the only ship I spent real money on😩
@@bigdinner9712 it is still one of the highest pilot dps ships even with 2 pilot guns less and still a decent multirole ship despite being classified as an "explorer". It just wont solo pilot out-dps fully crewed capital ships anymore which was flatout broken to begin with honestly. That ship should have never been released the way it was since big nerfs were inevitable and just a matter of time, since CIG tends to wait for the sales to dry up before heaviely nerfing overpowered ships.

They should have made her a 2 seater , she's got the size and it almost screams for a second seat and operated. But still a fantastic ship ❤️ she and the f7a. Are my only fighters (coincidentally I think cig shot themselves in the foot with these, I have no desire or need to buy any other fighters now I own these)
I am sure CIG will eventually come up with some variants for the F8 which might even include a super lightning similar to the mk1 and upcoming mk2 super hornets.
This ship being a litteral pay to win in terms of dogfight is one of the biggest joke in the game. Some people just walk on everyone with this, you put them in a gladius or a arrow, something that ACTUALLY require skill to stay alive in they crumble in 15sec.

Otherwise you wont get 10 year insurance and YOU CAN'T reset it once it is account bounded!
you cant buy it outside of IAE to or Invictus to begin with even if you have golden tickets, unless that event is actively running. It is a time limited sale like other ships.
I bought it origionally with 6 month insurance, and after the change i now have 10 year + 6 month. It just was added to my account for free
Shame it got nerfed so much with the master mode changes. Nonetheless, it has an awesome amount of guns and great HP + Shield. Yeah.. it would really benefit the ship if it had a gold standard pass!😅
I’m not planning on getting one at the moment, as I don’t currently feel the need to get a fighter. Although, I might consider it in the future for SQ42. Just waiting for the Zeus to arrive 😅 Might have to melt my 400i.

Not a fan of a lot of different pips. And this has different sized 8 forward facing guns…. Couldn’t have 4 size 5 guns? Or 5 size fours?
I think CIG wants to move away from the monoboating meta to using different kinds of weapons for different targets (shields,. hull, components, etc). Whether they achieve this is a different story though. But if they do, having 8 hardpoints might be a plus.

Tana was my first ship I really enjoyed when I first started. It’s since been melted and made into other ships but I still think of it fondly!
I love it but they nerfed the crap out of this beauty. It was designed to out maneuver the vanduul yet here we are and a starfarer can out maneuver it lol
I had an interest in that ship but now that my Corsair's been nerfed I'm just über pissed and would rather give the finger to that game

Its not a heavy a ship !! its over 100 tones lighter than the vanguard and half the size !! The tuning suck with this game makes no sense
It's more about loadout and components than physical size.
@@100Gurty The F8 is the size of a mantis!! Should not fly like a bus, makes no logical sense. Newton laws mate !! A bus should not beat a Ferrari in a drag race. Size and weight matter ! They should Nerf the weapons not the agility ! That is the logical thing to do just like the redeemer
