guys if youre planning on doing this i wouldnt even think about it without a small impact wrench that can get hard to reach areas, and a jack that goes at least 24 in off the ground. it looks easy for him cause hes a pro with a lift, it will be hell for you. trust me
I didn't need a breaker bar or an impact, but i did have it up in the air, which gave me better leverage. Did you ever get a chance to replace the solenoid?
@@TheYotaChannel lol i was just pissed off when i commented that cause i rounded off the trans fill plug and couldnt get it off. Yes i changed it and it fixed it! Thank you so much man
@Jrdagreat its funny that 99% of people say that changing the solenoid doesn't fix it. Not just greedy mechanics wanting to change the whole trans, people on the IS forums said it wouldnt do anything too. glad i found your video!
@put-tarrahnjahoova-bad718 nice man! To be able to do that job means you are skilled. And yes, i agree it's worth checking the solenoids before you shotgun a transmission assembly.

What was the solenoid part number and from where did u get it?
Replace all brand new everything OEM Toyota/Lexus parts n fluids from fresh off Japan because it was a lot cheaper for code p2757 for the locking solenoid. Yes CEL did went away but now just having issues on the locking drive mode up even small incline. Maybe not enough transmission fluid? I spec off everything like the fluid level also even torque spec all the new bolts.
Hello this was an extremely helpful video! Although I tested all the solenoids and they all seem to be reading the proper ohm level. My 06 is250 is jerking and having trouble shifting through gears. The oil pan is looking good barely any metal shavings. Do you have any suggestions?
im thinking ECU how many miles on your car?
@@driverXful I ended up just changing the gasket and did multiple oil flushes and its smooth as butter now. Im thinking oil was just really dirty. Thank you tho!
Have a rx330 started flare shifting 2-3 and rough shift 2-3 any idea what could cause that?@@driverXful
What if i’m only getting P2714. Car is NOT GOING IN REVERSE. When in Drive, it shifts late i mean it shifts at high rpms pretty much every shift. No slipping just delayed shifts and NO reverse at all. Feels like i’m in Neutral when in Reverse

Hello I have a 2007 IS awd and the shifter will not go into drive so I can't drive it to the shop. I have taken the console off and I am trying to figure out if there is way to losen the shifter. It moves slightly to the right and then gets stuck. I don't want to force it as I am worried I might break something. This started a while ago and my mechanic lube it and it was fine for a while but it would start to get harder to shift. I did not drive the car as I was away for 3 weeks and now it is completely stuck. Any suggestions as to what I might be able to do and save me from having to tow the car as these guys charge a pile of money just to bring it 4-5 miles from my place. Thanks
See if you can remove the center console and pop the cable of the shifter and manually shift by pulling on the cable. Make sure you have your foot and the brakes while doing this.

Is this a common problem on Lexus is250?? My 07 just turned the light on not too long ago??
On my is250 2006 the light came on(p0751 and 2714) like in februari,but the car was shifting fine before,during and after clearing the codes..meanwhile csr was driving and shifting fine...after 5 months,2 days ago the codes came back but the car was still driving fine..cleared the codes,(same as before)and after a day it came back,but this time only 1 code p0983..cleared it and the car drives fine( 1 day passed).no harsh shifting whatsoever
I dont know what i need to do.the dealer says the USA cars can be different compared with EU spec cars regarding the ecm update...got any advice?

@@rudimntary p2714 and p0761 after the ecu and re flashing it helped but didn’t solved the problem. Sooooooooooooo I took it to north bell Scottsdale Lexus and paid 250 for a loaner and for a diagnostic only to find out my transmission was almost 2 quarts low after the install was done. Installed wasn’t from Lexus it was 3rd party. But the car drive great now. Start with the drain and fill!!! With filters

Could my solenoid be the problem even if its not throwing a code for it? My car is struggling to switch from 2nd to 3rd gear but there is no code. Thanks for the video man
Yes, it may take a while for the ECM to trip the code, especially if you don't drive it much. It's worth dropping the transmission pan and test the solenoids to see if the ohm readings are in spec
The code ending up showing up. One more question, before you took off the pan at the start of the video, you had already drained all the transmission fluid right??

Hey JR, I have P0761 and P2714, its currently in limp mode not going past 3rd. I figure its the SLT or/and the S3. The limp mode doesn’t mean the transmission is done for right? Just a failsafe?
Correct, it doesn't mean the transmission is done for. Before suspecting the transmission, it's better to drop the pan and check EACH AND EVERY solenoid. That's what i did in this video, and surely enough, one of the s solenoids was bad.
After replacing the solenoid, the vehicle shifted fine after that and still operates with no issues.

Good to hear, I’ll update this comment thread once I solve the issue to help others out. Going to change out the fluid prior to changing the solenoids potentially save money. Using that video you made. You hit all the pointers, keep up the amazing work.
@@SlackfulChanged out the fluid, code popped up again. It was dark but not bad. Was able to shift out of third briefly, then went back to limp mode after resetting the battery. Going to change out the SLT and S3 solenoids before I get a new transmission. Will update the thread. Codes thrown are P0761 & P2714

@@TheYotaChannel P2714, p0894, p0761, p0756, p0500, so that’s about 3 solenoids that need changing.
Did you get it figured out??? My car won’t go into reverse AT ALL, and have only the P2714 code. It does shift at high rpm’s though but no slipping
@@alejandroochoa3541 changed the entire transmission. Was difficult to find the solenoids separately

It's worth checking out the solenoids first before going straight to replacing the transmission. That's what i did in this video for the customer.

Yes, it could be a possibility. it's worth checking out first before purchasing a new transmission.
Was this for the A960E transmission ?
Hey, no, this is the AWD A760H transmission. The same diagnostic procedure can be applied to the A960E transmission as well. The pan and valve body set up are the same.
could these solenoids be the problem if the car is stuck in 1st gear?
Yes, it can absolutely be the problem.
Would that code be the same issue on my 06 Gs?
Yes, there is a high probability.

Hey man! Appreciate this video. Do you think this would possibly apply to a 2010 Lexus is 350 with the A760E transmission? I've been getting a p2714 and a P0761. It trips completely randomly but always during a cold start and during it's first shift from 3rd to 4th. It will drive for thousands of miles after that just fine. Sometimes I can go a month without tripping any codes or it can be just within a couple days. I've taken it to our favorite local transmission shop and they are at a lost with the problem. It drives perfectly fine otherwise and hasn't gotten worse over the last 30,000 miles since this started. We tried replacing the SLT solenoid but no luck. Any advice would be great! Thanks!
Hey, this is directly from the Toyota & Lexus repair manual for DTC P2714 it states, " If any other codes besides P0894 and P2714 are output, perform troubleshooting for those DTCs first." In your case, they should've troubleshooted the P0761 first, which indicates a possible S3 solenoid going out intermittently. They replace the SLT solenoid based on the P2714, which Toyota repair manual wants you to troubleshoot any other DTC FIRST.
While the transmission pan is down, it's good to check all the solenoids, not just what dtc code pin points to. But at the same time, the S3 could be intermittent and may have tested okay at the time, but stick at other times. You should try and give the S3 a closer look.
@@TheYotaChannel Interesting! I will have that looked at. If the S3 solenoid has the correct resistance then is it most likely something else. I guess if my problem is intermittent it may only check out occasionally. Appreciate your response.
@Bdog0820 Especially since you said the symptoms are not getting worse. Most intermittent issues are electrical related. If it was a mechanical issue (worn clutches, planetary gear sets,etc), it would be more consistent. A slipping worn clutch doesn't slip one day and grips the next. But a sticking partially clogged solenoid could do that.

Doing a job like this outside, on some jack stands, i would say 200 is generous.
Have at least 6qts of fluid. Also, be sure to follow the fill and adjustment procedure.

I have a 2007 is250 with 2 codes P2714 and P0894 which told me to replace solenoid D and was trying to find its location. Thank you very much again my man god bless Happy holidays...
What’s the solenoid call or part number bro
This particular solenoid that failed in this video is called an S2 solenoid. As you can see, there are other solenoids inside the transmission pan. You need a diagram from the repair manual to accurately identify which one is which as you test them.

@antonioponce1094 is it throwing any trouble codes? I would check to make sure the shifter and the shift indicator in the speedometer matches. For example, if you put the car in park, drive, and neutral, etc... does it read park, drive, and neutral in the speedometer. But those solenoids can give you those symptoms as well.

Hey, for transmission related components, i will always recommend buying from Toyota and Lexus. There must be a reason why it's cheaper aftermarket. It's a small solenoid, but think of how much it's switching ON & OFF during a normal trip.
@@TheYotaChannel thanks for the reply. After more research I found out it wasn't the transmission giving me problems, it was a bad MAF sensor that made the engine stall to shift into first gear. Got a new one and stall went away.
