Great job codifying the different elements of mouse grip styles. It is too easy to reduce everything to the big three of palm, claw, and fingertip with some hybrids in the middle, but this helps make it much more detailed and specific to easily classify and identify a specific grip style. Well done!
    Here is my grip style:
    1. Anchored
    2. Straight
    3. No Palm Contact with Mouse
    4. Relaxed Fingertip
    5. Wheel Tips

But isn't it really about how your hand adapts to each mouse as opposed to a specific grip? These tests are done with the mouse
you're currently using, yet if you were using another mouse you might have a different "natural" grip that suits the specific mouse. Seems logical.

Ey, I also had a viper mini before handing it down to my brother. Movement was a bit awkward as viper mini was slightly too small for me. Other than that, mini is a certainly a good mouse. GPX on the other hand is slightly too big. If viper mini's size is perfect for you, I imagine GPX would be too large. Not the best mouse IMO, but overall still great for general usage & FPS games.
9/10 build quality, 8/10 shape, 6/10 size. Would recommend.

(for anyone looking at comparing their grip to others) my grip is:
    1. anchored on the right side of my right hand
    2. slightly reverse angled (my fingers are curving towards my thumb but my mouse is straight with my forearm just not my fingers)
    3. hybrid palm (only the front of my palm under my middle, ring and little finger makes contact, not the index and none of the rest of my palm)
    4. relaxed fingertip
    5. front finger placement
    6. together (technically I do separate a little but only as far as the top and bottom of the front mouse skate)
and I'm on the gpro superlight
hopefully with enough people sharing u can gather enough info to make it even more specific and it can be used to get mice u kno u'll like rather than taking a chance on a $100+ mouse.

I adjust my grip slightly depending on game and scenario. The two best examples I can think of are how high I position my fingers and whether I use 122 or 131.
For Apex and CSGO I use 131 most of the time since I like using scrollwheel for jump while not having to give up m1 or m2 temporarly.
For games where I dont need my scrollwheel that often (for example diabotical, osu, titanfall, ...) or in situations where I need to hold an angle, knowing I wont use m2 any time soon (for example with awp in csgo) I use 122.
How high I position my fingers is rather random. Sometimes I position my fingers higher up since it feels like it takes less force to click (sometimes helpful for spamclicking) other times I just stretch out my fingers a bit more and put them next to my scrollwheel.

I've always thought of myself as having a "claw-tip" grip when playing games. Well, I guess not _"always"_ since I had to like... actually look at what my hand was doing when playing a game before I noticed.
What I mean by that, is the way I hold a mouse when just doing "Windows stuff" is _wayy_ different than how I hold it when playing a game. I actually didn't notice this until I was playing Doom 4 (2016), I think. I noticed that when I play a game, I grip the mouse really tightly with just my tips and my fingers were really arched.
    1. Elevated

I've come to this exact realisation, mainly due to discovering this youtube channel. In 'Windows stuff' I have a palm grip and I always thought I had palm grip (thus buying mice like Intellimouse Pro) but I am actually using the exact parameters that Zy is using ( ... also playing Quake for 17 odd years.. coincidence?). Then tried GPX superlight and it fitted like a glove. I did not expected that. Its still a big bigger for me I feel. A GPX Superlight mini of about 90% of the GPX would be ideal I feel. The feel on the scroll wheel is way better, though the press force is a bit higher than I wanted.
My gridshot score in AimLab increased pretty much from the start.
Was doing 51k with the mini. 53 with g102 and Orochi and went to 57 with the GPX.

    6. Crazy: I hold my mouse like an Englishman drinks his tea, sticking my pinky out. I think I started doing it because I have long fingers but prefer medium mice. But I also found that this allows the mouse to move more freely inside my palm because it's not caged between all my fingers. When I'm not aiming, my pinky rests on the mousepad, like most of my palm. That's why I love mice with thumb rests for work and lazy gaming: they allow me to have all my fingers rest on some horizontal surface, relaxing all my hand muscles when I don't need them.

I am looking into the same one but the only thing that makes me not buy it is if the middle button is hard to click , because I use blender and I use middle button every second basically . I love how detailed this is! The fourth point is kinda hard to determine for my style. A lot of my palm is in contact with the mouse, and I use the 1-2-2 grip, but still my middle finger is arched in a relaxed position, while my index is flat. So I guess my style would be:
    1. Anchored
    2. Angled
    3. Palm or hybrid palm
    4. ? (Only my middle finger is arched, so I guess this would be a palm/claw hybrid?)
    5. Front tip
    6. Separated
I just bought your mouse, because I had to test the very specific shape to my grip. Unfortunately it didn't fit my style, but I was wondering if you would consider putting out a guide on how to find the perfect shape, using clay?
In any case, thank you for deep diving into aiming. It is my passion, and you help pave the way to perfection.

I think my grip preferences are:
    Elevated
    Straight
    Palm
    Tip/overhang
1 2 2 (so the "normal" finger placements)
My wrist can't really arch upward properly to use mice how they were intended (usually some sort of finger/claw grip with the wrist on the mat) so the ubiquitous small egg-shaped mice are very unsuitable (I had a Logitech G305 that was partly responsible for my wrist ending up like this, as well as a keyboard shelf under the desk with an annoying lip that contributed to the issue). I have smaller hands but yet there are no mice sufficiently flat in the longitudinal dimension (while being narrow enough to be held comfortably in my smaller hands) to fit me. I wound up switching to a trackball to escape the horrendous RSI (and even it isn't perfect since it is really too big, and I have to float my wrist since it is still that annoying egg shape).
Basically I want my hand to lie more or less flat upon the top of the mouse, curving around its sides but not at the back. Do you have any recommendations?

  • @FlurryMainchin
    @FlurryMainchin ปีที่แล้ว

My grip is a little bit "anchored" but it's really only the Pisoform Bone and the right side of my palm a bit. It's barely touching so I can lift it up to flick and anchor it more when seeking precise micro corrections, similar effect to how claw is used, but with a bit less control all around the mouse, a little bit of bias towards controlling from the pisiform
so I guess I want to call that*:
    1. hybrid anchored*
    2. angled
    3. hybrid palm
    4. relaxed fingertip
    5. front tips
    6. 1-2-2 together (due to old injury I can't use my pinky fully independently, I keep it tucked beneath my ring finger and kinda anchored to it, but I often drop the tip to the mousepad for control along with the tip of my ring finger. Especially when I lift my pisiform bone up for flicks, as that pushes both tips lower and helps with precision & stopping power)

If you using your palm then you are not using fingertip or claw grip because in these grips either your palm don't touch mouse hump or slightly touch it with only a bit of palm
I think you are using palm grip but for g102 small size u said it fits you well so either your hand very small or you using claw palm grip
