Ending defenders are saying since the titan curse is gone the eldians can't be used as wopens which I do not get. Its proven in the marly arc that they use human eldians as a first line of troops or defence in wars as sacrifices so what is stopping them from doing it again since one of there won race killed 80% of the world. So now even the eldians outside of the island are also now gonna get sacrificed or killed since they have to atone for the new sin that eren committed

She didn't get her memories erased, that's why on chap 138 she was having a vision of a completely different world. Because SHE DOES remember her memories from Eren unlike the others. The others only remember their convos with Eren after he dies. She said to Armin "you remember too?" because everyone around was remembering too, NOT Mikasa. Mikasa knew Eren was erasing the memories thanks to their memory from chap 138 when Eren said to her "forget about me". That's why we don't see Levi saying something related to a memory from Eren either.

I was against Eren's rumbling plan but when he said " I don't know why " when asked, I couldn't get past that. So Eren straight up murdered over a billion people including innocent men, women, children (I'm sure there were also newborns and heavily pregnant women as well) and potentially destroyed the ecosystem and he has the audacity to say he doesn't know why, that he just had to at all cost. This makes Eren come off as a psychopath.

When Isayama said that the story is about Eren and Mikasa, I was honestly really annoyed. AoT is much mroe symbolic, much more important than that. The other characters play a huge, _huge_ role in the plot. I won't talk about Jeankasa or Eremika, but in terms of development I feel like Jean had it the most between the three of them. Even now I feel that Mikasa's potential fell short. The fact that her life just revolves around Eren has annoyed me for the longest time already. I completely agree with the rant. AoT isn't a romance manga. It's a manga which is supposed to reflect grey morality, how war affects people etc. I personally think the last two chapters have issues with character consistency.
She doesn't even have a goal beyond protecting his brother (don't give a shit, they're sibling to me, don't @me). Wich, well, is understable because is her only family left, but such an important character should be more than that I think. They could have played with her asian family, say that she wanted to discover more about them and the answers were beyond the walls- but no, she's just there to protect Eren. I can't see her as more than Mary Sue, she's strong, pretty, the chosen one, and the only "bad" thing that she has is her obsession over Eren, and even then she's awarded for that. (By that I don't mean that people shouldn't like Mikasa or something like that, people can like whatever they want, it's just something that really bothers me)

If I’m being honest, I find that scene where Mikasa confessed to Eren pretty selfish. Like the boy is going through a meltdown and just watched another person die, and your mind is thinking “Now is a good time to confess to him.” Like the world is bigger than your feelings for Eren, Mikasa. Number 1: In Eren’s defense, his goal is inhuman, destined for many to go against and fail. Even he knew his scheme is inhuman, will be stopped, eventually fail midway until people can stop him. Number 2: 80% world death is enormous, meaning some countries probably got deleted 100% to even recover, probably take hundreds of year to repopulate. The island has far more advantage and time to dominate and negotiate, it showed they have capable of human vs human war, can decide when the next war start. ==> power = safety Number 3: Ymir passed on, no more Titan, the hatred against titan will fade away, drug used to trigger titan become ineffective, titan become the history, even if war occur, people will eventually can’t differentiate the Eldigan and regular human=> vengeance will become meaningless. It is bitter sweet ending with contradictions, because it is not normal shonen where the main character’goal is just and achievable.
If the power of the founder can rewrite the DNA of every Eldian, wouldn't it be better if Eren with Ymir's help change the makeup of the Eldians such that every one of them has the powers of the titans without actually turning into titans. The regenerative healing would be especially useful plus creating various hardened structures as well as hardening their skin would help with defense. If Eren and Ymir made the Eldians immortal, they would pursue their various interests to their hearts content, they'll experience freedom like no human has ever known and they also have vivid details of historical events from their time as since they actually lived through and experienced them, said events cannot be disputed or relegated to myth and whatnot. Plus other benefits that come with having unlimited life spans (endless learning, exploring, technology development etc) Lastly, Eren doesn't die. Ymir creates a new body for him to attach his head to, and at the end of the conflict, no Eldian dies, Eren returns to meet Historia, they go to see the ocean, Eren holds his child and while looking at the clear blue sky and the glittering ocean water says " you are free ". This sounds cliche but I think this would have been a better outcome.
This actually sound good as much as I am a Eren Mika shipper sort of not like crazy but I think those two are the most likely to have romance between them but Eren and historia do have lots of moments where they lift each other up and it seems wrong that Ymir used Eren and mikasa in a way to give herself courage and that she was in love with the king cmon at least gave her be loving to all her decendents
One other thing I’m now realizing is, how much do you think the paths concept probably altered the story. I’m not saying that the paths were all bad but I think that when the concept of time travel was introduced into the story, I should’ve been more on guard because realistically, how many stories can you name that introduced time travel as a concept and still managed to have a coherent, well structured story and ending that didn’t abuse the concept?

I am an anime only watcher and thought it was weird that he was showing feelings towards her in season 4. I did read the later chapters of the manga when the show was on hiatus. And I still couldn't see many places that even suggested Eren had feelings for Mikasa. I do believe he has deep love for her. But it was always in such a familial way. I could actually see him liking Historia based on their interactions. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think it would have just been interesting to have that love left unrequited.

Eren using the rumbling to end the rest of the world and Paradis the fascist nation surviving is far worse than Ymir loving her abuser. Eren was the antagonist. Her dramatic need is staying by Eren's side. Ideal world/life is being with Eren. Her love interest is Eren. Lives to remember Eren. Her reason to live is Eren. Her Arc is about letting go of Eren. Inner conflict is ideal Eren vs real Eren. Her dilemma is choosing Humanity vs Eren. Her fear is losing Eren. Her goal is to live a peaceful life with Eren. B-but she said sorry to Levi which proves that her character isn't only ereh. Your argument is invalid and you didn't understand the story.

About the scene of the vision of how things would be if Eren and Mikasa ran away, i read a theory on tumblr that said, maybe it wasn't Eren's vision, but more of Mikasa's dream of what could have happened, if they ran away. Since, a couple of times i think, there are panels that seemed like things were on her perspective. And also the thing about Eremika is, besides the - i admit for this point, a biased feeling - weird feeling i get from them, like it doesn't rub me the right way. They always seemed of having more of a familial relationship to me, never a romantic one. Isayama even said that Eren doesn't see her that way, rather a more motherly figure. And since the rural geography of AOT is inspired by Isayama's own childhood, where he was raised in a rural area and everyone knew each other, he expressed he was grossed out when he found some his childhood friends that married each other cause to him, they were all like siblings together.. So like... MANS BE CONTRADICTING HIMSELF??? And for ships, even tho i shipped jeankasa WAYYY before season 3 ever happened (not even bothered to be considered canon), and i shipped eren with someone else (now sunken ship lol), in all consideration, i never saw Eren ending up with anyone... Like i really just saw him free with his own freedom and partnerless.. It made more sense and it made even more sense when Eren grew out of his angsty teen phase and into the more calm man bun phase. Another thing to add is that if Eren had the guts to attack Marley killing innocents in the process, cause an uprising in Paradis, murder over a billion people including innocents again then telling the girl who has pretty much devoted her life to him that he loves should not be difficult whatsoever. Plus if Eren loved but refused to tell Mikasa how he felt, this is just another example of a particular romance trope I really hate. It goes like this : Girl genuinely loves guy and shows it through her words and actions, guy is aware of her romantic feelings towards him and feels the same way. But then for soooooome reason, he never shows an iota of affection towards her, act somewhat cold and distant at times and won't reciprocate her feelings (this goes on for a long time, usually months or a couple of years). Later when it's too late (like when girl sees that guy won't respond to her feelings of love, moves on and maybe enters a relationship with someone else (optional), guy finally confesses his feelings and shows all kinds of romantic gestures towards girl until he wins her back. Lastly, keep in mind that if you exclude the paths, alternate timeline and general time travel shenanigans, the last Mikasa heard from Eren is "I've always hated you".

re-reading everything before the final couple chapters has me in disbelief. as you mentioned, literally 139 contradicts and retcons erens entire character. it feels like this ending is just fake, and wrong. i think isayama had to have been rushed or pressured into this ending. i really hope we get an anime original ending that actually suites the show. especially since the new panels released showed that everyone's sacrifices were in vein cause the cycle of hatred continued and paradis blew up. just as eren had said.

Even though both are the same thing, one represents Eren's drive to kill everybody for Paradis' freedom and his friends' sake (Rumbling, which he obviously failed miserably at), while other represents his selfish dream of seeing the outside world empty of humans (Turning everything flat). Hence Eren answers 'I don't know why, I wanted to, I had to' to the second thing (his dream). Here Eren says that he does not know why he wanted to turn everything flat but he wanted to turn everything flat and he had to because he doesn't know the reason why he always desired so much freedom that he would want to turn the world flat. I strongly agree with most of the things that have been said in this video, but there is something stuck in my mind about Eren and Mikasa. The bad writing is obvious, of course, and if it seems to me that chapter 139 has taken away the purpose of the whole story since the beginning (it wouldn't be even a problem if Isayama deleted everything from the internet and pretended that AOT hadn't happened LOL). But there was another sentence Isayama said about Mikasa and Eren. He said that he deliberately drew Mikasa beautifully (Especially in that particular scene where Mikasa thanked Eren in the middle of battle when Hannes died) and that all of these "beautiful" moments were from Eren's point of view, because Eren had feelings for Mikasa and that Mikasa always looked beautiful for Eren. I don't know exactly what the truth of this statement is, but if this is indeed the case, what we are given in chapter 139 is a total fiasco and one, big fat example of bad writing, nothing more. I am not even against Historia&Eren thing anymore even though I had been always a fan of Mikasa&Eren thing. Let it be Mikasa&Eren or Historia&Eren, it is not even about ships anymore; all of these things could be written much better, we could see a much better quality end. What the fuck happened, man?

You took the "I don't know" part out of context. Right before that, Eren said that he would have gone through the rumbling regardless if he knew Armin and the alliance would stop him. This is what Armin is asking about: why Eren would have gone as far as killing everyone outside the walls. When Eren says "I don't know", the panel is juxtaposed with Grisha telling him that he's free. To me, this implies that Eren was willing to kill everyone to be free. However, he didn't know why he yearned for freedom so much that he'd go that far and I think this is what Eren couldn't explain.

Seriously? No mention of Erens third Central character motivation, to ensure that his friends were free and got to live long lives. He said it several times even in chapter 130. He says in 133 that he won't take away their freedom to stop him, and Goads them into taking his life. Armin was the reason he wanted to explore the outside world and he honestly said that they were more important to him than anyone else. Eren had mental breakdowns when he saw Hannes, Levi Squad, and Sasha die because of him. I know that Eren caring about his friends more than anything is inconvenient to AnR, because murdering his closest friends would go against his central character motivation, but you can't just ignore that.
The ANR theory is ridiculous because Eren is not so characterless that she will kill her friends and the girl she loves and live happily ever after. Also, the baby is the farmer's daughter
Eren didn't "brutally murder" three people, he *killed* three people to save Mikasa. That's not murder. Murder is the shedding of *innocent blood.* Eren and Mikasa have the right to self-defense against abuse and kidnapping. It's a tired old mistake where people conflate murder with killing without understanding the difference between different acts of killing. *No just court would find Eren guilty of "murder".* He was perfectly within his rights. You say his character has remained logically consistent, but it clearly hasn't. Killing people is not the same concept as killing titans, they are fundamentally different. Eren would have never referred to humans as "animals," as he worked to save humanity his whole life, and then experienced and even admitted the humanity of the people outside the walls! This, at least, is logically inconsistent. Isayama is clearly portraying Eren as the mass-murderer archetype to defame and villainize him, rather than keeping his character consistent.
I agree with this, but saying that eren mikasa makes no sense is wrong, mikasa was meant to be similar to carla, and historia with dina. Eren got his father and kruger to mention MIKASA, and armin. I think that scene in 139 should be scrapped completely, and it should be subjective
im an eremika shipper but the ship definetely has its flaws. they shouldve showed erens side of the ship alot more. also leaving all of erens feeling to be balled out on the last chapter was a risky move. it shouldve been done a few chapters before not the last chapter. but i also think aot ending with eren and historia becoming a thing is also a terrible ending and a bad part to his character too.
I find the "I don't know what did you expect" or the "Did your really think Eren turned into a heartless monster" arguments to hold little weight. You can factually demonstrate that he knew what he was doing and that he felt he had to it. We have no reason to believe otherwise. No reason, there isn't any clue o foreshadowing. The people who say that are clinging to their headcanon of Eren, ignoring everything that the story has laid out, and they feel vindicated by that the fact that they were right. When they had absolutely no reason to believe that other than their own thoughts.

What bugs me about this ship the most is that it just happened. Moments were just happening but it didn't feel like it was enough or good enough. I'm unsatisfied. All I can feel when I think of this ship is pain and trauma. I see no warm connection there.

Ending defenders are saying since the titan curse is gone the eldians can't be used as wopens which I do not get.
Its proven in the marly arc that they use human eldians as a first line of troops or defence in wars as sacrifices so what is stopping them from doing it again since one of there won race killed 80% of the world.
So now even the eldians outside of the island are also now gonna get sacrificed or killed since they have to atone for the new sin that eren committed

She didn't get her memories erased, that's why on chap 138 she was having a vision of a completely different world. Because SHE DOES remember her memories from Eren unlike the others. The others only remember their convos with Eren after he dies. She said to Armin "you remember too?" because everyone around was remembering too, NOT Mikasa. Mikasa knew Eren was erasing the memories thanks to their memory from chap 138 when Eren said to her "forget about me". That's why we don't see Levi saying something related to a memory from Eren either.

I was against Eren's rumbling plan but when he said " I don't know why " when asked, I couldn't get past that.

When Isayama said that the story is about Eren and Mikasa, I was honestly really annoyed. AoT is much mroe symbolic, much more important than that. The other characters play a huge, _huge_ role in the plot. I won't talk about Jeankasa or Eremika, but in terms of development I feel like Jean had it the most between the three of them. Even now I feel that Mikasa's potential fell short. The fact that her life just revolves around Eren has annoyed me for the longest time already. I completely agree with the rant.
AoT isn't a romance manga. It's a manga which is supposed to reflect grey morality, how war affects people etc.
I personally think the last two chapters have issues with character consistency.
She's almost like Marinette. Marinette's life roams around Adrien, while Mikasa roams around Eren.
She doesn't even have a goal beyond protecting his brother (don't give a shit, they're sibling to me, don't @me). Wich, well, is understable because is her only family left, but such an important character should be more than that I think.
They could have played with her asian family, say that she wanted to discover more about them and the answers were beyond the walls- but no, she's just there to protect Eren.
I can't see her as more than Mary Sue, she's strong, pretty, the chosen one, and the only "bad" thing that she has is her obsession over Eren, and even then she's awarded for that.
(By that I don't mean that people shouldn't like Mikasa or something like that, people can like whatever they want, it's just something that really bothers me)

One of the things I hate about eremika shippers is that when people bring up eren and historia relationship they go on the offensive and talk about how eren and mikasa have a better relationship even though eren and mikasa never had anything romantic going for them. Number 1: In Eren’s defense, his goal is inhuman, destined for many to go against and fail. Even he knew his scheme is inhuman, will be stopped, eventually fail midway until people can stop him.
Number 2: 80% world death is enormous, meaning some countries probably got deleted 100% to even recover, probably take hundreds of year to repopulate. The island has far more advantage and time to dominate and negotiate, it showed they have capable of human vs human war, can decide when the next war start. ==> power = safety
Number 3: Ymir passed on, no more Titan, the hatred against titan will fade away, drug used to trigger titan become ineffective, titan become the history, even if war occur, people will eventually can’t differentiate the Eldigan and regular human=> vengeance will become meaningless.
It is bitter sweet ending with contradictions, because it is not normal shonen where the main character’goal is just and achievable.
If the power of the founder can rewrite the DNA of every Eldian, wouldn't it be better if Eren with Ymir's help change the makeup of the Eldians such that every one of them has the powers of the titans without actually turning into titans.
The regenerative healing would be especially useful plus creating various hardened structures as well as hardening their skin would help with defense.
If Eren and Ymir made the Eldians immortal, they would pursue their various interests to their hearts content, they'll experience freedom like no human has ever known and they also have vivid details of historical events from their time as since they actually lived through and experienced them, said events cannot be disputed or relegated to myth and whatnot. Plus other benefits that come with having unlimited life spans (endless learning, exploring, technology development etc)
Lastly, Eren doesn't die. Ymir creates a new body for him to attach his head to, and at the end of the conflict, no Eldian dies, Eren returns to meet Historia, they go to see the ocean, Eren holds his child and while looking at the clear blue sky and the glittering ocean water says " you are free ".
This sounds cliche but I think this would have been a better outcome.
This actually sound good as much as I am a Eren Mika shipper sort of not like crazy but I think those two are the most likely to have romance between them but Eren and historia do have lots of moments where they lift each other up and it seems wrong that Ymir used Eren and mikasa in a way to give herself courage and that she was in love with the king cmon at least gave her be loving to all her decendents

Fucking thank you. I thought I was out of my mind when I saw more more feelings from Eren towards Historia than Mikasa. Because there are just so many Eremika shippers. I am an anime only watcher and thought it was weird that he was showing feelings towards her in season 4. I did read the later chapters of the manga when the show was on hiatus. And I still couldn't see many places that even suggested Eren had feelings for Mikasa. I do believe he has deep love for her. But it was always in such a familial way. I could actually see him liking Historia based on their interactions. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think it would have just been interesting to have that love left unrequited.

About the scene of the vision of how things would be if Eren and Mikasa ran away, i read a theory on tumblr that said, maybe it wasn't Eren's vision, but more of Mikasa's dream of what could have happened, if they ran away. Since, a couple of times i think, there are panels that seemed like things were on her perspective.
And also the thing about Eremika is, besides the - i admit for this point, a biased feeling - weird feeling i get from them, like it doesn't rub me the right way. They always seemed of having more of a familial relationship to me, never a romantic one. Isayama even said that Eren doesn't see her that way, rather a more motherly figure. And since the rural geography of AOT is inspired by Isayama's own childhood, where he was raised in a rural area and everyone knew each other, he expressed he was grossed out when he found some his childhood friends that married each other cause to him, they were all like siblings together..

It goes like this : Girl genuinely loves guy and shows it through her words and actions, guy is aware of her romantic feelings towards him and feels the same way. But then for soooooome reason, he never shows an iota of affection towards her, act somewhat cold and distant at times and won't reciprocate her feelings (this goes on for a long time, usually months or a couple of years). Later when it's too late (like when girl sees that guy won't respond to her feelings of love, moves on and maybe enters a relationship with someone else (optional), guy finally confesses his feelings and shows all kinds of romantic gestures towards girl until he wins her back.
Lastly, keep in mind that if you exclude the paths, alternate timeline and general time travel shenanigans, the last Mikasa heard from Eren is "I've always hated you".

re-reading everything before the final couple chapters has me in disbelief. as you mentioned, literally 139 contradicts and retcons erens entire character. it feels like this ending is just fake, and wrong. i think isayama had to have been rushed or pressured into this ending. i really hope we get an anime original ending that actually suites the show. especially since the new panels released showed that everyone's sacrifices were in vein cause the cycle of hatred continued and paradis blew up. just as eren had said.

When Armin asks Eren 'Why?' he refers to Eren wanting to turn everything flat and not necessarily Rumbling. Even though both are the same thing, one represents Eren's drive to kill everybody for Paradis' freedom and his friends' sake (Rumbling, which he obviously failed miserably at), while other represents his selfish dream of seeing the outside world empty of humans (Turning everything flat). Hence Eren answers 'I don't know why, I wanted to, I had to' to the second thing (his dream). I strongly agree with most of the things that have been said in this video, but there is something stuck in my mind about Eren and Mikasa. The bad writing is obvious, of course, and if it seems to me that chapter 139 has taken away the purpose of the whole story since the beginning (it wouldn't be even a problem if Isayama deleted everything from the internet and pretended that AOT hadn't happened LOL). But there was another sentence Isayama said about Mikasa and Eren. He said that he deliberately drew Mikasa beautifully (Especially in that particular scene where Mikasa thanked Eren in the middle of battle when Hannes died) and that all of these "beautiful" moments were from Eren's point of view, because Eren had feelings for Mikasa and that Mikasa always looked beautiful for Eren. I don't know exactly what the truth of this statement is, but if this is indeed the case, what we are given in chapter 139 is a total fiasco and one, big fat example of bad writing, nothing more. I am not even against Historia&Eren thing anymore even though I had been always a fan of Mikasa&Eren thing. Let it be Mikasa&Eren or Historia&Eren, it is not even about ships anymore; all of these things could be written much better, we could see a much better quality end. What the fuck happened, man?

You took the "I don't know" part out of context. Right before that, Eren said that he would have gone through the rumbling regardless if he knew Armin and the alliance would stop him. This is what Armin is asking about: why Eren would have gone as far as killing everyone outside the walls. When Eren says "I don't know", the panel is juxtaposed with Grisha telling him that he's free. To me, this implies that Eren was willing to kill everyone to be free. However, he didn't know why he yearned for freedom so much that he'd go that far and I think this is what Eren couldn't explain.

Eren has more chemistry with Historian than with Mikasa. At this point Mikasa family and nothing more, they've been together all their life and not once has Eren display any romantic feelings toward Mikasa and instead treated her like an annoying sister or mother.

Seriously? No mention of Erens third Central character motivation, to ensure that his friends were free and got to live long lives. He said it several times even in chapter 130. He says in 133 that he won't take away their freedom to stop him, and Goads them into taking his life.
Armin was the reason he wanted to explore the outside world and he honestly said that they were more important to him than anyone else.
Eren had mental breakdowns when he saw Hannes, Levi Squad, and Sasha die because of him.
I know that Eren caring about his friends more than anything is inconvenient to AnR, because murdering his closest friends would go against his central character motivation, but you can't just ignore that.

Eren didn't "brutally murder" three people, he *killed* three people to save Mikasa. That's not murder. Murder is the shedding of *innocent blood.* Eren and Mikasa have the right to self-defense against abuse and kidnapping. It's a tired old mistake where people conflate murder with killing without understanding the difference between different acts of killing. *No just court would find Eren guilty of "murder".* He was perfectly within his rights.
You say his character has remained logically consistent, but it clearly hasn't. Killing people is not the same concept as killing titans, they are fundamentally different. Eren would have never referred to humans as "animals," as he worked to save humanity his whole life, and then experienced and even admitted the humanity of the people outside the walls! This, at least, is logically inconsistent. Isayama is clearly portraying Eren as the mass-murderer archetype to defame and villainize him, rather than keeping his character consistent.

im an eremika shipper but the ship definetely has its flaws. they shouldve showed erens side of the ship alot more. also leaving all of erens feeling to be balled out on the last chapter was a risky move. it shouldve been done a few chapters before not the last chapter. but i also think aot ending with eren and historia becoming a thing is also a terrible ending and a bad part to his character too.

I find the "I don't know what did you expect" or the "Did your really think Eren turned into a heartless monster" arguments to hold little weight. You can factually demonstrate that he knew what he was doing and that he felt he had to it. We have no reason to believe otherwise. No reason, there isn't any clue o foreshadowing. The people who say that are clinging to their headcanon of Eren, ignoring everything that the story has laid out, and they feel vindicated by that the fact that they were right. When they had absolutely no reason to believe that other than their own thoughts.
The “You’re just mad Eren isn’t heartless” “you’re mad Eren is showing emotion” “Eren was never this chad character” arguments are the some of the most brain dead arguments to come from the EM shippers. It’s one of the biggest character misreads from them but that just goes to show they never understood his character and just cared about their precious ships

Yea I don’t know why isayama turned aot into a romance in the last two chapter odd choice since it was never really set up. Attack on Titan went from Breaking Bad level writing to Riverdale level romance in the span of 2 chapters
