I live in White Plains and just switched to landing at HPN instead of LGA. Living in White Plains I Can see planes that take off from HPN & planes that land at LaGuardia I can tell by the altitude and direction their headed.
This is an awesome video! I love the views of the Hudson River and Valley on the takeoff you had, I've flown this many times. It's great when you get a view of the Tappan Zee Bridge out the right seat of the plane!
Superb panoramic perspective of the land below while airborne ! Scintillating, engaging narration, and yes, thanks for "transcribing" the PolitSpeaks, which otherwise would, to an untrained ear, sound gibberish ! Peter, you have been 'educating' us and that makes aviation a memorable experience to be cherished ! Look forward to having many, many such brilliant narrations in the future ! Thanks for enlightening us !!!!
I grew up in the area and have flown in/out Westchester many times in the past 20+ years. So always enjoy vids made around my old hood. Citation-Max is based out of HPN.
20:48 Rockefeller State Park Preserve is a great place to walk (when it's not too hot, at least, heh) - especially, if one likes animals, walking by the farm that is adjacent to the preserve.
It’s amazing how well you understand that “Pilot Speak,” Peter! It’s like having my own personal translator! So very interesting. Edit: Well, “personal” as in Shared with your thousands of followers, anyway!
Noise complaints keep this airport from expanding in both physical footprint and number of destinations served. I guess the affluent, travel-loving residents of Westchester and Greenwich prefer the traffic-jammed slog to LGA , JFK and EWR...
Awesome video and I subscribed! I like this airport a lot and it’s expanding. Breeze airways has a route from here to LAX on an A220! Also Avelo (plane in the back mentioned in the video) is expanding very rapidly, especially out of HVN and MCO
Yay Peter! I sure enjoyed the ATC audio and learned a lot. ATC/flight deck audio humanizes as much as is full of interesting lingo and tech context for flying fans. Next time I fly Delta I'll try to find out from you or somewhere how to get that live "channel nine" like feed. Pretty day to fly. Have you already featured footage of our "forest walk" between concourses A & B? How about between T & A, the very beautiful Zimbabwean sculpture some time. Happy continued flying and youtubering.
The current observation lounge is cool - part of me still misses the old one, that was open air, and cold as hell in winter, and it had a metal fence as opposed to the clear glass of the current lounge, but it was cool being out and close-ish to aircraft, noises and all.
@@PeterMasella Many memories as a little kid watching my Dad's flights come and go when he went on business trips, and staying around to watch planes just for the hell of it. Back when United flew 737-500s, American and USAir still had their Fokker 100s,, Northwest flew DC-9s in, when the terminal was in the stage of its life between having no jetways at all, and having 2 Sure it didn't do any good for my hearing, but fuck it. 😂😂
@@PeterMasella To this day, I still wonder why they chose the fencing they did for the perimeter of the old deck, since it did get in the way with getting good views (and photos/videos) - ah well, the current deck IS spectacular regardless (ESPECIALLY with all the photos of the airport from its early years, the WWII quonset hut, etc. Didn't know American Airlines was (amongst the first? The first?) to operate commercial service out of it until I saw that info whilst reading the information on the walls of the current observation deck.)
Loved this one Peter! I always go to the Observation lounge because why wouldn’t I? Am I right? And pre-Covid it was still fairly empty. I don’t get it. Love HPN!
The observation lounge is THE place to be! Many of the flights from HPN fly to Florida which is more of a leisure destination, and Florida has proven to be one of the most popular destinations from New York during the current phase of the ongoing pandemic. In addition to the fact that there is a large number of leisure travelers, the aircraft that operate flights from HPN to Florida are larger aircraft (for example, the A320) which means more people. The flight I took is more of a business route and was operated on a smaller plane (A regional jet). During my time there, I saw several operations to/from the sunshine state. Thanks so much for watching!
In this video, you said this Delta Flight is operated by Endeavor. Is Endeavor a separate corporation from Delta with it's own staff ie; Pilots, Flight Attendants, etc?
Ok, I already saw the one for October. I love your channel. I love the amazing views of the skyline of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Jersey city in your videos of flying into JFK and La Guardia. Keep up the good work!!!!
Peter, this is another great video! I can relate to this since this is my home airport and I fly the Cirrus out of the Million Air FBO. I'm familiar with the departure procedures out of KHPN and you are spot on with all of the radio communication procedures. Do you have any experience as a pilot?
LOVE this Peter. A logistical question, How are you listening/recording to the radio broadcasts while you were on the aircraft? Or did you have a second person handling that for you? I ask not to expose your secrets but I'd love to be able to listen while boarding/on the plane as well. Iphone/Android App?
Thanks Nick! That is a great question. All of the ATC recordings are archived on the internet and I listen in after the flight is complete and use those recordings.
The plane is obviously smaller, do you feel the turbulence more? I am one of those white knuckle fliers and do you listen to the air traffic controllers during those times?
No, there was no turbulence at all, and I don't really ever notice any greater turbulence on smaller planes. It just depends on what the weather conditions are. No, I listen after the flight.
great video my father worked there for forty years i can't tell you how many times i went to work with him ,,i'm walking history about the airport
Thanks for watching, Jim!
@@PeterMasella hi pete i have a couple of videos i took a few years ago check it out when you have a chance
Yesssssss finally Peter at my home airport!!
Awesome!
Your finest and most impressive video yet. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much!

Another great video and including the radio communications is a perfect addition! Westchester County, my old stomping grounds.... Thanks Peter!
Thanks so much! I plan on adding more ATC communications in upcoming videos.
Great video as always Peter!

Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching! I really wanted to sit on the left but it was not available!
Just for reference, the "long runway" is used for commercial aircraft, the "short runway" is for GA
In my video many GA aircraft use the short runway.
OUTSTANDING....As Usual!
Thank you so much Jonathan!

I love aviation. It's great to learn the concept of what pilots and atc do during flight ✈️

Even though I'm familiar with ATC lingo, flight paths, etc., it's still nice to see a video that explains them. Keep up the good work.
Thanks. I am working on more like this! So many videos just put the ATC feed in without explanation and I aim to change that!

Not only that but the main parking garage has woven steel mesh "windows" to make plane spotting from there impossible.
