    Nicely explained, tension really is the key to these even though people usually focus on the pick itself. All it really comes down to is just practicing!

    Does the order you do it in matter? Can you start with pin one and go from there, or do you need to look/look for something special?

    • @HelpfulLockPicker
      @HelpfulLockPicker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can start at pin 1 but you need to find the binding pin

    Great explanation and demonstration!
    I like the Brinks locks and the Master lockout tag out
    Was not sure about the second lock, was it a Master?
    Anyway thanks for the video!

      chris capune Thank you for the kind words! The second lock I did BOK on was a Master Lock 570. It has 4 spools and 1 standard, ut is also a dead core lock.

    This is a very good training video that you made. I like it a lot and as I get more equipment I will eventually be doing training videos on my channel as well. I did put two serrated pins in my 3 pin progressive lock from Sparrows and I am having a hard time with the serrated pins, as if now with my beginning experience with those pins, I'd like to go back in time, find the guy who invented those and have him hung, strung, and quartered! But I do like spool pins, I did order the cut away practice locks from Sparrows with all spool pins and I pick it every day for fun. If put serrated pins in it but I know it would only piss me of at this point but it will happen eventually as I get better

    • @HelpfulLockPicker
      @HelpfulLockPicker  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hope to make some videos on serrated pins down the road too. They can be fun once you learn them

      @ryanclay959 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HelpfulLockPicker that day will come for me, I'm just starting to learn about how to pick serrated pins but I'm still getting good at proper pick placement so I'm not lifting other pins at the same time

  • @thekracken4572

    The Brinks padlock in the beginning was the first real lock I picked. It was the only padlock I had around the house. It took me a while because I wasn't sure what was going on with the counter rotation. I thought it was a pin trying to over set. After going back and forth between a clear practice lock and the Brinks for awhile, longer than I should have, I finally decided to let the counter rotation happen and got to experience the joy of opening my first lock. I never expected that lock to have a security pin in it.

    My first lock with spool pins (a sparrow cutaway lock) will arrive this week. Looking forward to this. Many thanks for your vids, they provide a lot of theoretical knowledge! With these I'll be confident to go in to battle.
