    This a fantastic explanation on dealing with serrated pins. This is why it's so important that you learn the difference between springy and loose as Help explains here.

    I started picking yesterday. And was successfully able to pick my flat door today thanks to this video.
    It took me a few minutes but once I identified the serrated pins it was a piece of cake.
    Thank you my guy.

      Congrats on the success but you really should not be picking locks in use and / or don't own.

    Today was literally the best day you could have posted this lol. I got a Peterson lock pick set last week and I've been trying to get a consistent open on my two American 1100s

    • @samrostetter228
      @samrostetter228 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually find it really weird because I've gutted both of them and know that one has 2 spools and the other has 3 but I think the binding order doesn't actually allow any of the spools to come into play. Good luck to you with any exposure your facing with the coronavirus.

      Yes, it is a Lishi. They do take the fun out of picking but they definitely make excellent demonstration tools :-)

    I love your videos, HLP. I learn a lot from all of them. Where do you get your cutaway locks? Do you machine them yourself, or do you purchase them?

      These I bought on eBay but you can get them online. Multipick has a good one

    Yes, agree with all her, your presentations are always excellent! I know from it too, light tension is the key, but when you go on and set other pins, doesn’t it also make it easier to overset regular pins? Do you adjust tension, a little more, then back off a little when you get back to an underset serrate pin?

    • @HelpfulLockPicker
      @HelpfulLockPicker  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I vary it based how are the key pins are or are not binding. More tension makes oversets less likely but can pose a challenge for these pins

    I just started 2 days ago. And spent maybe 10 hours on the same lock. For some reason if I tension from the top it's easy to pick. And tensioning from the bottom I can't open it at all. Is this a thing or should I be able to unlock from both top and bottom the same? I'm still really new and it's a lot of fun. Just wondering if some others have had this problem ever and what could fix it.. ok just changed from a half diamond to a hook and I can get it lol. So many different tools that are useable I'm still overwhelmed.

    • @HelpfulLockPicker
      @HelpfulLockPicker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      BOK takes up more room and sometimes the shaft of the pick will be oversetting the pins in the front. In theory you should be able to do both but one is often easier. With some locks, using BOK can "bind the core" easily and make it more difficult.
