I know your currently reacting to baki on patrion but there is an og 2001 baki origin story series that your missing but its not on Netflix (google it ) your missing so much of his backstory so please watch it after you finish
Loved your reaction as always!! I think Syd’s response to Carm saying “I don’t want it to be so hard to keep up with me” being full of pauses, is because she was waiting for him to say something real after that. Like he’s sharing a feeling, which kudos on recognizing it lol, but then he just leaves it at that rather than taking the next step in self-awareness by thinking of what he wants to do about that feeling :// like even saying “so I’m gonna listen more” or “so I wanna work more on being on the same page” would have been more self-awareness from him than we’ve seen in a while haha
Y’all are forgetting that Carmy needs to fix his relationship with Richie as well, & I’d put that as priority over Claire, considering that Carmy & Richie are essentially brothers & they both work together.
Carmy needs therapy, real therapy and in the meantime he is affecting everyone else, specially Sydney. Pay attention to the flashbacks, how Carmy looks in them, his face, his smile.
That is a really good point. And like Sheera said, Carmys' problem is affecting all of them. But most of them knows the boundaries or at least are avoiding the situation, but obviously not everyone has that kind of self awareness, like the Faks.
Marcus has become such a favorite character of mine to root for. I genuinely wish the best for him in his character arc. I'm loving his laser focused determination on expressing himself through his pastries and desserts. Carm came to him with the non-negotiables and he was like "Yeah, cool I dig it." This man's studying fucking magic and slight of hand to make a better dessert!
Hey just a small thing I read on TikTok at 5:17 we get a look at the dish he’s making, guys the sauce literally looks like her head scarf, that’s why he’s staring at the dish like that he’s like “wtf did I just do”?? Just a little something for the sidcarmy shippers out there
They overstepped but knowing Carm that situation would've never been resolved. We see him run from his problems all the time which would affect his work and everyone else around him. Carm is the reason why the restaurant is falling apart in general because of the way he's trying to operate the restaurant and by him not listening to the advice of everyone around him. All of those things stem from him not addressing his problems.
Yea, Sheera really killed it on this one. And honestly, as annoying as the Faks are, they were the only ones who actually took some direct actions. Carmy doesn't want to deal with it, and everyone else won't confront Carmy on his shit. Carmys avoiding, Richie is angry, and Syd is non confrontational.
@@sousaetern1276 yeah i think the faks 100% have the right to try and fix things themselves when carmy’s own personal problems are killing the business and his connections to his friends. and syd hesitating to tell carmy about the job offer is also something he can’t be mad about when she eventually says something, because not only is it his fault that she waited so long to tell him, but it’s his fault that she’s considering leaving in the first place
I'm with Sheera on everything she said! Carmy needs to be pushed. He keeps saying he has to correct himself but hasn't and also is not getting any therapy. If Carmy is left to his own devices and doing things on his own time then he'll just self destruct and take everything down with him! He needs to be pushed to do certain things. Claire bear situation included! Sheera is RIGHT!
7:07 If you don't know what it means, it's ok because he doesn't know how to pronounce it. And no, he didn't call him a bong hit. He asked how he thought he became so knowledgeable, and if he thought it was from a bong hit.
Wait a min … does anyone think that this episode was going back and forth into the future and present? And the article syd was reading is the one that they were awaiting? They kept showing us snippets of it …. Maybe that was the redirection
Syd is definitely in a tough spot because the show intentionally makes the audience question if Shapiro (chef from Ever) will be worse than Carmy. It is very suspect that Shapiro wants Syd to pick the theme of the new restaurant. As the executive chef, he should want to decide that, so that alone is a red flag. Also, from the Forks episode, he is shown to be pretty vicious and condescending. The grass isn't always greener on the other side. Syd has a history of "impatience" (immediately leaving when her current situation is not ideal). For her own personal growth as a fictional TV character, she needs to list out her demands to Carmy. He'll eventually listen to her....because he is in love with her.
Hopefully Sydney leaves.... Not because "Oh they don't deserve you ...", but just so she comes into the reality of the good old "You don't know what you have until you lose it" The reality is that chefs like Carmy are extremely hard to find... Somebody who pushes you into a better version of yourself.
I think Carmy is the one that needs that “don’t know what you have until you lose it” lesson. Obviously Syd has valued Carmy as a chef from the beginning that’s why she applied to work at the Beef in season 1. Carmy is the one that’s been more dismissive of Syd and has been taking her for granted the last 3 seasons. I think Syd leaving can help push Carmy to realize that he needs to get his shit together. I think Syd should leave because she has legit concerns about the direction of things and how reliable Carmy has been as a partner, as well as his behavior/personal issues affected the culture in the kitchen. It’s all pretty valid tbh
Better chef, yes. Better person? No. The line in the show is, " You are an excellent chef, but you are also an asshole." This is literally what Carmy has been struggling with. The arguement isn't about ability or skill, it's about personality, environment, and mental health. He was trained in a horrible environment that honed his skills to the peak but he paid it with trauma and mental health issues, which he already had enough of growing up. Is that what he wants to do? Is that what Syd wants? Can his current staff adapt to that kind of environment? Will they retain who they are if they do?
I love Sydney as a character, but I feel like they're REALLY undermining Carmy's skills as a chef this season in an effort to uplift her. Like- she spent the ENTIRE first season praising him for being one of the best chefs alive and now this entire season it's been her lowkey thinking she can hang with him. Even this episode with the "I didn't mean I can't keep up with you on a skill level. 🤨" Like, ma'am? Before this job you sold food out of your garage and worked at UPS (acording to the resume she gave him literally in ep 1). I don't get why they made her so arrogant from a culinary skill perspective this entire season. It's so jarring and it makes her unlikeable for no reason other than forcing this drama about signing the contract.
Sydney has worked at other fine dining spots. Carmen even says "that's some serious heat" when he looks at her résumé in S1 EP1. She's also been to culinary school and her catering business is how she's solved multiple problems that have come up in the restaurant. Or am I misremembering? 🤔
Did we already forget season one? She’s been telling him from the beginning, she doesn’t care what he decides, she’ll go with it but he doesn’t hear her and tends to shut her down. That was her main issue with Carmy since he made the system a brigade in season one and it has persisted. They aren’t undermining his skills. Carmy is still not listening and shutting Syd down at every step. He may believe his way is better but accepting 0 input from your partner and not even allowing them to finish their thought is the issue.
@@nikorumurasaki9509Exactly. I don’t even know why he offered her part ownership if he’s not going to accept some input from her & communicate with her as a partner. I don’t blame her for being hesitant to sign the agreement.
Carmy was the one who had a snippy response, assuming that Sydney is speaking about his culinary skill & not his mental state. but Sydney’s somehow still at fault??? Anything to hate on Sydney I guess.

Carmy. My guy. Therapy. Please. It's been 3 seasons. Therapy. And apologize to Claire. Not to get her back just for peace.
