Hey Chris bermuda grass is looking good. Back in the mid 1980's we had 2 weeks straight rain. Belton lake was so full that water was going over the spill way. There was so much flood debris in Stillhouse Hollow lake it didn't even look like a lake and water was almost up to the bottom of the bridge. Horse people are real picky about hay. Broke a knotter on my baler and haven't found a replacement. New Holland bales look a lot better.
Sorry about your knotter failure on the 14T. There’s nothing more frustrating when the baler goes down let alone unable to find the parts to fix it. Try Calling Frys Machinery in Muncy PA. I hear they have salvaged balers for parts. We weren’t flooding here but all of the stock tanks are full. It was just slow steady rains for about 4 weeks. I

I would love to have a bailer like that, but damn they’re expensive! I noticed you back window open, I have a td 80 and it gets hot inside thinking about tinting my windows does good when its cloudy but when sunny and 90 outside it gets hot as crap
We are looking at that baler, was wondering how the bales from it looked/density. I wonder how well it can handle wet hay? We put up our first cutting wet, about 100 bales/year and our current baler isnt silage special and doesn't handle it very well. The silage special balers from new holland cost as much as the tractor, so hopefully the utility model can handle it.
I looked in the manual and I could not find anything saying if it can bale wet hay. It says the maximum weight bale it can handle is 1000lbs. It does have a hydraulic density adjuster so you can make them as heavy/light as you want. Its relatively simple too as far as the mechanical working. I’ll make a video about it soon. It’s crazy how expensive the balers can get but they also have some amazing engineering/technology in them too.
When I’m cutting I’ll get up to 10mph if the field is smooth enough. It just depends on the thickness of the grass slowing down the tractor or if I’m make the first couple of passes on the outside of the field I’ll take it real slow to avoid trash/wildlife
Get some Outrider and spray that field at 1 oz/acre. SW AR county extension agent here currently working with several hay producers on getting rid of their Johnson grass. Outrider works great but is kind of expensive
Iam one of them, in SW Ar, been spot spraying with glyphosate but can’t a handle on it, about to have to bite the bullet on outrider. Congratulations on the new baler! That’s a game changer!
@@stephenwyett3187 what county are you in? Several of our agents are working with people right now in different counties. I don’t recognize the name so must be a different county and agent. I’m in Lafayette Co.
@@CenTexAg None of those have any activity on Johnsongrass as far as i know. Outrider (sulfosulfuron) will kill all the johnsongrass it contacts but it won't have any residual activity. You will likely need to spray a couple of times maybe a month apart. Don't cut the hay for at least 2 weeks after spraying. Also, make sure and use 1% solution nonionic surfactant to make the chemical stick to the leaves properly.
@@CenTexAg same issue. Last season I put close to 200 bales through it. Once you have it started its great. Wish i had gotten the net wrap from what i understand its a lot quicker then twine.

Take the plunge when you can. It’s worth the extra expense. Anything I can do to speed up the process is very valuable.

It was actually closed. But it still gets hot. I really would like to tint my windows too but can’t find anyone to come out and do it.

Thank you for that info. I’m willing to try it because 24d, cimarron plus & pastora doesn’t keep it from coming back.

I got the same baler but I didn't get the net wrap. I pull mine with a powerstar 75.
How do you like the baler? I have to ease into picking up hay to get a bale started but once it’s started it sucks it up like a vacuum.

It is very fast. I’d say a 30 second difference compared to my last baler. It is an option so you can always add it to your baler.
Do you raise cattle or just sale your hay ?
I just sell it. I have zero animals
