I appreciate what you do and the way you do it. If it works for you, it works. But I treat my Bermuda grass a lot different that you do though. I cut on a 4-6 week rotation. I keep it clean durning the growing season and apply fertilizer after each cutting. If Its clean and have decent weather, I can normally dry it to 10-12% moisture in 28-30 hours and it will be as green as most northern hay. I normally cut mine 4-5 times a year and get 6-8 tons to the acre annually.
Man Johnson grass has been terrible this year in Kentucky. It’s been seasonable wet this year. We have already cut a lot of our regular grass fields three times because of the Johnson grass. Love the videos keep them coming. Thanks for taking time out of a very busy schedulers do videos.

Same here in middle TN. I’ve never even seen Johnson Grass on our place until this year. It has come up in patches everywhere. Also pigweed and horse nettle seem to be bad this year. I think we’ll only get two cuttings this year due to the weather and first cutting being so late (June). I fear a shortage will happen around my area this winter.
Daniel Altman I hear you I did some brush hogging the other day and was cutting horse weeds and iron weeds as tall as the tractor tire. I Can’t complain to much a bout rain the soybeans and corn have done great this year.
Just want to say thanks for you talking your time to make these videos especially for us that has done this and dont no more brings back some good memories im hoping by next hay season i will be doing this i have bought everything but the baler and i can't decide if i should go round baler or square baler there is a quiet a few people doing custom baling around me but no one will touch anything under 25 acres so i think I could keep busy doing the smaller places what you think round baler or square

Well if your starting from scratch rounds it’ll be cheaper to get going an faster with less labor theirs more money in squares but their a lot more work an it cost a lot to get going with good equipment to handle them with ease personally if it was me I’d find a good used Vermeer or maybe a 1700 Massey there pretty easy to maintain an work on to get started if you want todo squares I’d recommend a maxilator accumagrapple like we had to start with. You’ll want a skid steer to run it on it’s a lot easier than on a tractor

Jimmy I'm in the same boat as you. I'm wanting to get back into it as a retirement/enjoyment jig. I keep going back and forth on roll vs square too! BF is right, squares are typically more to get into up front but it is hard to dismiss the added value they bring once you are setup. I live in the deep south near the coast and almost everyone does rounds but they do it for mainly their own cattle which leaves a big market for people looking for squares. I'm working on a cost effective setup to do squares and have some interesting ideas. I was also looking at round balers and the Vermeer 504R is at the top of the list if I go that route, they look nice!
A horse or cow will actually eat crabgrass before orchard or fescue, because its softer more tender..not quite as good, but more palatable...its a very good wet or ery forage...my animals love it, its my favorite warm season grass
Hey in a previous video, I believe last year, you demoed a Claas 800 Tedder. How did that thing pull down the road? How come you didn’t end up purchasing?
it pulled good behind the tractor a lot better than the krones. Behind the pickup I don't know I never tried it. The reason we haven't bought it is im waiting till I wear the krones out with the demos its a deal me an cain equipment have worked out to show yall the equipment if I don't like it I can say I don't like it no restrictions personally if I was buying a six star id buy the claas if I was buying a 4 star id go with the pequea

Two Farm Boys oh yea that’s mostly what we are is a cattle operation hay is just a side income I’ll start to focus more on the cattle in about a month when hay starts slowing down
