Below are some of my favorite places…all highly recommended, but honestly…the key is to find a stall with a long line of locals…that’s the best indication of what’s good. It’ll be worth waiting for:)

-Komala Vilas Vegetarian Restaurant (Order anything and everything…but I come here for the Dosai…but seriously…everything is amazing)
-Jaggi’s Northern Indian Cuisine (Again…everything is incredible. I love the butter chicken, and make sure to get some of their incredible made-to-order naan bread)
Tiong Bahru:
-Loo’s Hainanese Curry Rice (just…friggin’ delicious. Definitely go here if you’re in Tiong Bahru)
Tiong Bahru Bakery (Everything here is great…the croissants in particular are flaky and perfect)
Spago:
Top of Tower 2 at Marina Bay Sands. Good drinks and very good food…great views of the city. The menu is super spendy. But it’s one of the best burgers in the city.

-Carrot Cake at Chomp Chomp Food Centre (not at all what you think it is…it’s a savory dish of rice flour…get the “black” version…it has more flavor)

-Tiong Bahru Meng See (on Chinatown’s Food Street…get the Roast Duck over noodles)
-328 Katong Laksa (a little spendy for laksa, but very popular, spicy, and delicious)
-Sungei Road Laksa (More local and cheaper, but equally excellent Laksa)
-Samy’s Curry Restaurant
-No Signboard Seafood (my favorite chili crab in the city…note: Chili crab can be very expensive…make sure to check the price upfront so you’re not surprised)
-JB Ah Meng (White Pepper Crab)
-Rider’s Cafe
-Lucy’s BBQ (at Chomp Chomp Food Centre)
-Finally…I also love the Golden Mile Food Centre, and the Adams Road Food Centre
Things to do:
-The Treetop Walk at the MacRitchie Reservoir is very cool
-Take a boat ride in the Marina
-Check out the Marina Barrage…it’s a very cool roof-top park where people fly their kites

(But my best hotel advice is to just search Hotels.come, Expedia, etc to find the best deals for the days you’re going…read guest reviews and look at guest pictures.
Also…if you can handle tight spaces and don’t mind a shared bathroom, you can stay at CUBE Capsule Hotel…it’s actually a pretty cool experience. And of course…there’s always AirBnB)

The 'Singapore Flyer' is a ferris wheel on the far side of the Sheares Bridge at Raffles Avenue. It is frequently criticized and is expensive. There are heaps of other options for views and vantage points of Singapore. If you're staying in a highrise hotel (and there's _lots_ of them in Singapore) you'll probably get just as good a view from your window as you would from the Flyer. Other ideal spots for views and filming/photography are the Jubilee Bridge, the Benjamin Sheares Bridge and the rooftop of the Marina Bay Sands. A walk across the Jubilee Bridge, which runs alongside Esplanade Drive near the Merlion statue, Is a bucket-list must-do... and, yes, it often rains heavily in the afternoon in Singapore.
Been there several times. Everything he says and shows is true . My favorite city in the world!
We can’t get enough of Singapore! We’ve been visiting once every year or two for the last 15 years and this travel guide is so accurate and just perfect for anyone who’s thinking of going. (And I agree 100% about the Singapore Sling!!)

I came to Singapore almost a month ago and I have started loving this place so much now. People who come here as a tourist appreciate the attractions here and go! but when you actually live here as a commuter and experience Singapore from the core is when you realize how good the people are here, it has a beautifully and thoughtfully crafted infrastructure. The concept of food courts is so amazing, you get a healthy and tasty meal for around 5 SGD. Most importantly the crime rate is almost zero and people are so peaceful. LOVE SINGAPORE.

I've been watching a lot of travel videos of Singapore because my stepson is working there right now, and we'll be visiting soon. I've actually been there on stopovers a few times, but this year is the first time I'll be spending more than 1/2 a day. Anyway, I have to agree with the other commenters. This is one of the best videos I've seen. Very helpful, and you seem to really enjoy and appreciate the culture. Best of luck to you.

Out of all the travel/food youtuber Matt's is my favorite. It's fast pace, and he gets to the point. Matt does not drag his contents like many others out there. It IS hot, and humid but air conditioned coolness is always nearby. Public transportation is efficient, frequent and not costly at all. New for you, Matt - Jewel Changi airport - I thought it was an art exhibit and I was so wrong - it appears to be its own city within a city.
Highly recommend for anyone interested in Singapore to watch this.
My flight was 25 hours. From Atlanta. Airfares not too costly, either.

Yes Jewel Changi is AMAZING! they also have a laser light show at night which is beautiful.. You must definitely always come to Singapore with a big appetite - the food is fantastic! but wow! a 25 hour flight?? that is a long way to travel!

Excellent video with a lot of great tips. Have been to Singapore numerous times but missed out on a number of your recommendations. I still think Singapore Chilli Crab has to be included in the list of must do's - sensational dish that is worth the coin and the experience. Thanks Mat.

You missed my favourite Hawkers centre... The East Coast Lagoon Food Village... adjacent to the ECP: South of the East end of Marine Parade. Further the one other food that you must try is CKT Char kway teow, literally "stir-fried ricecake strips". Bloody magnificent food. Thanks for a great video and I'll finish up saying you are right. Singapore (Lion City) is Effing hot and you will sweat like a sauna if outside. Keep up the great work mate!

I'm planning on taking a trip to Doha, Qatar (on Qatar Airlines), and adding this leg from Doha to Singapore is only another $350... round trip from Philly. I didn't need any further temptation to make the extra leg on my trip, but your video helped cement it. I'm going to do a little more research on Singapore, but I really appreciate your video to tempt my senses that were already tempted.:) ty.:)
