Over thirty years ago, when I was in my 40s, my mother took me to Hong Kong for what turned out to be my only trip abroad. This video brought back so many memories of places I’d been and made me want to o return to experience the places I’d missed. The video is brilliantly filmed and edited, entertaining, and informative. In full disclosure, Matt is my son, but I think my assessment would be the same even if he weren’t. However, I’m one proud mama.
I was going to say the same. "The video is brilliantly filmed and edited, entertaining, and informative". Totally agree. You have raised a great man and I wish you all the success in the world ^_^.
Congratulations Kate. You have every reason to be a proud mama. Matt's Travel Tips are not only entertaining, they are quite possibly THE BEST in class. I have been to each of the cities he has featured on many occasions and I think he pretty much has everything covered. However, I can think of two things that leave me baffled every time I watch one of his videos: 1) why he is not the most famous travel guide in the world and 2) why is he not as round as a bagel with all the food he eats. BTW, I see the origin of his sense of humor.
Juan Ramos thanks for your kind words. However, even though I’m the mom, I have to agree that I don’t understand why he isn’t the most famous travel guide. As for all the food he eats, I hate him that he can do that and stay thin. In fairness, he works out a lot, and I guess I subscribe to the “ I’ll work out next week” theory “ 😬
Truly makes me realise why ive been here for 21 years. I love this city! so many things that i havent even done myself! thanks for the tips of my beloved city
kittysunky Same! I am from HK, and have been so disappointed with other videos. This was so positive and so informative. I absolutely think he did HK justice. 💙✌🏼
So far your videos have been the best travel guides I’ve seen, both in terms of video quality and esthetic as well as recommendations. I used your Oahu travel guide and had a great time. A highlight of that trip was the Hoomaluhia garden. Parking was free entry was free and I was shocked that it wasn’t overrun by tourist because it is such an amazing place! So thank you for that!
Matt you are good at this, this is probably my first comment on a youtube vid. The opening and closing of this video is one the best I have ever seen on TH-cam.
I lived in HK for 6 years and I have to say, you nailed it. There is a love/hate relationship with HK when you live there but I have to admit that I miss it so so much now that I moved out.
Jolanta Bailey hey I have the same situation as yours, I just moved out from HK 3 weeks ago and I already missed it,and I lived there for like..7 years
Glad to see somebody make a vid on hong kong from a tourist's perspective! I am a local and after living all the years here everything here seems too normal to me. Your video makes me feel proud of how marvellous Hong Kong is as a city. Thank you!
Loved it! So great to see you and your team back, you all have been missed! Hong Kong has been on my "Must Visit" list and now your video has caused it to move up the ranks to must visit in the next 12 months. I will have to look at high season versus low season and visa requirements and plan accordingly. Thanks again for a wonderful video!

I have flown in and out of Hong Kong airport a good few times since 2007 en route to Manila and London or Paris. It is an amazing view from the approaching plane. With just a few hours to spare between flights I once jumped on the train and got into town somewhere for a quick wander around. It was amazing. Later this year I hope to spend a week there with my wife and daughter. Can't wait!
Excellent tips. I've had an irrationally exuberant love of HK ever since I first stayed there in the mid-70's. Every time I've been back, it's like a new city.
Matt, your video is absolutely amazing. I used to live there and I haven't been back in over 10 years and seeing all those places brought back so many fond memories!

I loved your video as it really shows what makes the city special. While your video wasn't available when I made my trip, my wife (who spent nearly her entire life living there) was the tour guide and we pretty much did almost every thing you recommended (11 of your 13 tips). You've actually covered ALL the must hit spots and more. Still amazed you queued for all the busiest places, only wish I knew about taxi-ing up to the Peak much earlier. Love your video, thank you 👍👍👍
Congratulations Matt!! The best Hong Kong guide I’ve ever seen and be sure that I’ve seen a lot of them. I’ve been 23 times in H. K., mainly for business, and in 12 days I’ll be there once again. You’ve made a perfect summary of the most important things to do, to visit and to eat there. Your video even helped me to know that there are some places I missed to visit. Thanks Matt.
Hi Matt, I suffer from severe anxiety but watching this vid helps me feel better and motivated. Since age of 10yrs old i've always been fascinated with travel been a life long dream to travel the world top of the list is defo Hong Kong. Hope to go there one day
@@MattsTravelTipsi managed to go to Hong Kong back in March this year and i really loved it!!!! It felt so sureal especially when i first saw the harbour! Words don't do justice on how amazing it was especially the Victoria Peak. I stayed in Kowloon side. Had the famous pineapple bun and mammy's pancake was so delicious. Choin Hung was on my list but i totally forgot to visit there but i did go to Disneyland. Your travel guide helped me! Next time i go hoping to visit Central more often

Such an amazing video and very informative as well! We are visiting hk in the next week and will build our intinary base on this video thanks again Matt this must took a long time to make
Bryan McCauley Thanks! Next video should be much sooner:) Next videos are probably going to be Maui then Florence, Italy...but NOLA is one of my FAVORITE places. I may do a “food tips” for Nola soon. It’s actually very high on my list. Thanks for the support:) All the best, M
OMG, LOVED THE VIDEO!!! I lived there from 88 to 96 and while I didn't go back often I know make it a yearly pilgrimage. I applaud you for having so much insight into HK that your average White Boy visiting HK doesn't have. Awesome video!!!
Dope video! Sakurashima Bakery in Wan Chai makes better egg tarts IMO and Fu Sing Sharksfin Restaurant (Causeway Bay/Wan Chai) has mind-blowing char siu! (The chicken pastry is also to die for.)
I wholeheartedly agree with you. You will learn more about a place simply by wandering. I do the same wherever I go. You can find beautiful scenery in every country, but it's the people and the food that make it special. One more thing. Travel is a form of education. Go as often as you can and as far as you can. Thank you for your great work.
Myself and wife are visiting from our home in London 🇬🇧 this is without doupt the most helpful video we’ve seen absolutely loved it . We are super excited as whilst my wife loves a nice hotel we are not fancy restaurants people so we like nothing now to chill in a nice relaxed atmosphere with a beer , thanks superb
My first time watching your video. You look good, the video is great-recorded from good angles, overall, an outstanding an informative one. Really enjoyed it. Perhaps, you could also help the viewers with information on halal or vegan foods. Thank you. Cheers.
LILY SALLEH So glad you enjoyed it:) Sorry I didn’t include any info on vegetarian places...I just don’t really know any in HK, so I can’t speak with authority on them. But HK has everything! I’m sure there are some great vegetarian and halal options. All the best, M
I'm not from Hongkong but I believe this guy for all what he said. I adore the way he introduced the city. Well said, detailed and very very good!!! I hope he will make a documentary too in Philippines.
Wow!!!! Best travel youtube I have watched in last couple of years!!!!! Truly Awesome and Fun video that you have made, Matt. Thanks a lot. I have been going there for last 25 years and still I go there twice a year, actually I am going coming Monday, ha ha ha. It is one of my favorite cities of all time. Got to be top 3! Incredible food, more incredible "shopping", street scenes that changes every hour and every season....Probably the most diverse city that I have ever traveled. I live in Los Angeles for past almost 4 decades, but I feel way more safe and enjoyable in Hong Kong than my own city here in Los Angeles. (actually not really much going on in L.A.) Matt, you have made a great video for everyone to see and second-hand experience Hong Kong. And I completely and completely agree with you on everything you said. it was fun, educational and your video actually made me to go and walk around again... which I will do in next few days. thank you and thanks for your video.
Amazing video and does HK justice. I followed you and watched every video on your channel since the Hawaii travel guide. My husband and I literally went to Hawaii hitting all your recommended spots! Keep the great content coming!
Matt, cannot thank you enough for your tips. I just spent the last two weeks in Hong Kong and feel in love with the city. Your video helped prepare and inspire me. I'll be looking to other videos to be inspired about where I should go next.
As a local in Hong Kong, i strongly advise u not to buy anything in temple street, ladies market and stanley market, those are cheap and fake stuff that their only purpose is to rip tourists off.
Thank you so much!!! I will be going to Hong Kong for my summer holiday. Your travel tips is definitely the perfect guide to making my future trip super duper exciting!! ❤️❤️
Had the complete pleasure of living in HK for three years. We lived there when you flew into Kai Tak Airport which was an adventure in and of itself. My late husband was an USAF attaché and my second son was born there (1983). We lived in Repulse Bay and Stanley was the place to get fish (heads. We had a Pilipino maid) and chicken that taste like fish because they fed their chicken fish. I Loved every second of it. Great review!

How do you only have 60K subs? Job well done. See you in 6 months. My home town of New Orleans should be next!
Bryan McCauley Thanks! Next video should be much sooner:) Next videos are probably going to be Maui then Florence, Italy...but NOLA is one of my FAVORITE places. I may do a “food tips” for Nola soon. It’s actually very high on my list. Thanks for the support:)
All the best,
M
Top notch production quality combined with real good advise. Can't figure out why this channel isn't more popular.

The Best Place in the World!!!! I love Hong Kong with my whole heart!
vegan around the world I agree...it’s a wonderful city:)
Cheers,

OMG, LOVED THE VIDEO!!! I lived there from 88 to 96 and while I didn't go back often I know make it a yearly pilgrimage. I applaud you for having so much insight into HK that your average White Boy visiting HK doesn't have. Awesome video!!!
Bruce Fontaine Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Best,
M
Dope video! Sakurashima Bakery in Wan Chai makes better egg tarts IMO and Fu Sing Sharksfin Restaurant (Causeway Bay/Wan Chai) has mind-blowing char siu! (The chicken pastry is also to die for.)
Awesome! Glad you like the video! Thanks for the suggestions!
All the best,
M
I wholeheartedly agree with you. You will learn more about a place simply by wandering. I do the same wherever I go. You can find beautiful scenery in every country, but it's the people and the food that make it special.
One more thing.
Travel is a form of education. Go as often as you can and as far as you can. Thank you for your great work.
cooper magee Thanks so much for the comment! Glad we see eye to eye on how to travel:) Keep on journeying my friend.
All the best,
M
You have to fasten your seat belt when you got into a taxi ! $5000 fine ! Haha!

Thank you. Cheers.
I kept waiting for the info about vegetarian food...
LILY SALLEH So glad you enjoyed it:) Sorry I didn’t include any info on vegetarian places...I just don’t really know any in HK, so I can’t speak with authority on them. But HK has everything! I’m sure there are some great vegetarian and halal options.
All the best,
M

Matt, everything food and place you try.. Is expensive. My first trip there..I hardly eat proper meal 😔 I love the cherry, it's cheaper than Malaysia.
I'm not from Hongkong but I believe this guy for all what he said.
I adore the way he introduced the city. Well said, detailed and very very good!!!
I hope he will make a documentary too in Philippines.
Archie Aguas Thanks so much! Glad you liked it! And the Philippines is definitely on the list of possible spots to hit:)

(actually not really much going on in L.A.)
Matt, you have made a great video for everyone to see and second-hand experience Hong Kong. And I completely and completely agree with you on everything you said. it was fun, educational and your video actually made me to go and walk around again... which I will do in next few days.

As a local in Hong Kong, i strongly advise u not to buy anything in temple street, ladies market and stanley market, those are cheap and fake stuff that their only purpose is to rip tourists off.
Yeah and if you do know what you're getting yourself into, make sure you haggle them down in price.
this is a very comprehensive and accurate guide. Subscribed man, great job!
Protests. Sad for HK people right now :(
T Sizzle Very sad :(
Thank you so much!!! I will be going to Hong Kong for my summer holiday. Your travel tips is definitely the perfect guide to making my future trip super duper exciting!! ❤️❤️

Unna Burch Wow, thank you so much for the kind words! Really appreciate it!

K Palm Thanks so much for the comment! So glad you liked the video. Sounds like you have quite the history with this city:)
All the best,
M
