Kirk was actually close neighbours, and friends, with Johnny Ramone, who he shared a love of Horror Movies and monster memorabilia. This is a fitting tribute!
@@MCCrleone354 Johnny moved to LA when the Ramones retired in 1996, and he started making a lot of famous friends, like Rob Zombie, Eddie Vedder, John Frusciane (sp?), Henry Rollins, Steve Jones, and Kirk.

It's funny, as a lifelong (I've seen them live) Ramones fan, it took Metallica's version for me to realize that "I Wanna Be Well" and "53rd And Third" were essentially the same riff.

James Hetfiled could have incorporated more and forgotten the way of singing in Metallica to make these covers. Distortion is a bit metal, there wasn't much concern
This is 100% really Metallica (with the caveat that this was in-between the Jason and Robb eras, so Bob Rock is playing bass). Here's live footage of this to prove the point!: th-cam.com/video/bZSXVyZBEgs/w-d-xo.html
The '53rd and 3rd' cover was chosen from this batch of covers to be released on the official Ramones tribute album "We're A Happy Family". This is 'the real Metallica' as you put it.

Looks like someone’s missing from the picture… Jason the scapegoat
Some of these are actually really good. The raw production and shitty recording quality add to it.
@Rodycaz i beg to differ.
What I like about this is that it's almost not produce ... RAW ... and Metallica (and the Ramones) never sound better than raw.

Lars singing at 53rd and 3rd bridge, awesome.

Thanks for sharing! Metallica covers are always a treat.
St. Anger would have sounded 1000% better with this production.
Except there's almost no production at all
Same as on Garage Days Revisited. Hardly no production and one of their most powerful recordings

Hey ho lets go Metallica
Is this an official release from the 2000s or just a fan made album made of b-sides? Either way, best thing to come out of the st anger era!
These are b-sides from the singles which came out in 2003. If there’s a Garage Inc. 2 these will most likely be on the second disk.
