    I’m looking to do this to my ranger I loved the part where you said to always use a spring compressor it brought me back to when me and my grandpa were doing a airbag kit on his dodge truck 2 inch in the front and the air bags on the back and he was like let the jack down slowly and I was scared because I always let them down really fast so he said I guess you will find out if you have to bring me to the emergency room 😂 good old days of crazy grandpa

      Yeah Iv seen folks try n take them out all kinds of ways. If we weren't gonna reuse the spring iv even had friends cut them with angle grinder to relieve the pressure on them

    Good stuff! I can’t wait to get my 3/5 drop in on my truck! 💪🏻

      Yeah it'll look good I always liked the bed on the Mazda bc it has that little wide body type flair to it. To get even lower in tbe back you can flip the spring hangers upside down for more drop take passenger side mount upside down on driver side n vice versa but u will have to c notch frame then

      The kit I used is in the description tab but I'd definitely recommend getting better shocks than what come with the kit. These were way too soft

      Also did an update video on the kit with suggestions about how to make it better. If the link won't stay posted its also in the video description. Kit is for a v6 so if yours is the 4cyl u will need different kit otherwise the front springs won't compress enough from the weight of the 4cyl compared to the v6.

    Got a couple of questions, did you have to take out bump-stops, how was your alignment, also I like to drive my little ranger on the fast side since I have the DOHC year 2.3 did it corner any better?

    • @GlassWerx
      @GlassWerx  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The setup I had was for the v6 3.0. I did have to take bump stops out bc the shocks that came with the kit were just too soft and it was always hitting bump stops and also was running factory tire size still so front tires would occasionally rub turning. Buy the kit without shocks and get some better shocks like the nitro drop shocks and get the bump stops for lowered trucks and also if your gonna go lower then 2in in the front get the camber adjustment bolts bc it will camber in without them. After I took bump stops out it did handle pretty well but as I said the shocks were way too soft with the kit so better shocks would have made it even better.

      @@williamsanders468 no problem. Also for better cornering I'd suggest finding an edge or splash and getting the sway bars and put them on yours or order a brand new upgraded set.

    Did you ever find any other shocks these shocks ride way too soft like you said

    • @GlassWerx
      @GlassWerx  ปีที่แล้ว

      I never got any new shocks b4 I got rid of our ranger but from what I found the nitro drop shocks were some of the best ones to get. Alot of ppl I read recommended them over the toxic drop shocks.

  • @robertobaltazar1381

    Thinking about ordering my 3/6 drop kit from that same seller on ebay. How does it ride? Was the quality decent?

    • @GlassWerx
      @GlassWerx  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly if ur gonna run it get shorter bump stops and if your going 6in in rear I'd suggest either stiffer shocks than it comes with on all 4 corners or run a notch. I had to put stock shackles back on and shocks are so soft I still bang axle on frame in rear and fronts soft so gets bouncy and slams hard on bumps.it was sitting on stock bump stops and was hard ride. So I'd suggest Honestly buy cheaper kit without shocks and order better shocks and lowered bump stops. As far as quality goes I had no issues. Just shocks are way too soft for me. Also u will wana get camber kit as well for front tires. I'm running stock size tires so I tend to rub occasionally also

    • @robertobaltazar1381
      @robertobaltazar1381 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GlassWerx Thanks for the fast reply. I was thinking of just leaving stock shackles on too, for that 3/5 drop. Also good to know on the shocks that kit comes with, one of the things I was skeptical about. I'll most likely do that. Thanks for the video, it'll help me out when I do mine soon!

      @@robertobaltazar1381 not a problem. Glad I could help. Just finished up the bags on my civic and tying up some odd and end stuff on that so hopefully soon I'll be getting back to doing more on the ranger. But I'd definitely recommend better shocks and lowered bump stops. Check the channel out n sub if you'd like. If ya don't already have led headlights check that video out too. Some helpful info n there

      @@GlassWerx Will do man. One more thing, do you think there's really a difference on cutting stock springs springs vs lowering springs? My buddy was telling me I should just cut 2 coils and it'll have the same effect for free lol. I just got my single cab and want to make it look better. Leds on the way and just picked up some 18" mustang wheels. I'll check it out and sub 👍🏼

    • @GlassWerx
      @GlassWerx  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robertobaltazar1381 appreciate it. I was thinking bout doing a set of mustang wheels as well. As far as cut springs u can do it I know alot of people don't have issues with it. Iv done it myself but I did it on an old Square body suburban and it chewed thru tires like candy. As far as cut springs once they are cut they won't seat flat in the spring pockets anymore but with the ranger the shock goes thru the spring in the front so that could help keep the spring from falling out. I personally like the little extra piece of mind knowing my springs seated correctly and not gonna get in a bind. Also I don't remember if I put it in the video but when installing front springs be sure to rotate them and make sure they seat correctly on bottom and if you use jack on bottom of control arm like I did be sure u go slow and make sure your spring sits correctly in the top spring pocket as well. I didn't have it in there right the 1st time and it didn't sit correctly.

    What tire size in the back please

    • @GlassWerx
      @GlassWerx  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right now I'm running the factory sized spec tires. I need to actually go to a more low profile tire. But currently on 235/75/15. Need a 235/45/15 for better fitment especially in the front and it'll also drop truck about 35 more mm

    Will this work for XLT

    • @GlassWerx
      @GlassWerx  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The kits tend to be cab/engine specific. Not sure what cab/engine combo u have but I'd suggest just in case buy one that matches your specifications especially engine wise bc springs for a 4cyl may drop more in a v6 and v6 springs in a 4cyl may not drop enough. But as far as overall instill it'll be the same unless you have the older chassis with the I beam front end then in that case I'm don't remember what all needs be done with those been way too long since iv messed with one

    Can you plz do I quick update on the drop kit? I just bought the same one and I’m curious on how it’s held up for the past 4 months

    • @GlassWerx
      @GlassWerx  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah. So far hasn't been any issues with it other then the shocks that come with it are too soft. I removed front and rear bump stops and took the drop shackles off the back to make it a 3/5 drop because the shocks were too soft it was bottoming out too much in the rear and didn't like the axle banging the frame. But yeah ill get an update video made on it for ya.

    • @GlassWerx
      @GlassWerx  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also because I'm using stock suggested tire size still I do sometimes rub inside front drivers fender well. I also removed the fender liner as well so it rubbed less
