- Installing the cheapest lowering kit we could find online, and seeing if it's any good. We encounter trials and tribulations through this process but we get the install finished and make up our minds with a final review. This kit and process is for 2wd 2x4 Ford rangers and Mazda b series pickups, automatic or manual 5 speed transmissions. 4x4 trucks will have torsion bar front suspension systems, so they are different. Our truck has a 4.0 liter v6 but the 3.0 and 2.3 4 cylinder will be the same. Comment with any questions, enjoy!
Exact kits work on 1983 1984 1985 1986 1987 1988 1989 1990 1991 1992 1993 1994 1995 1996 1997, and 1998 1999 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 will use a different kit number but the process is the same.

Bud, with you having the extended cab you're going to need the shim for the drive shaft to keep the pinion straight.

How low did the axle sit to the ground
for in the future. Clean the threads with a wire wheel before you try to take the nut off of the u bolt.
Buddy your sway bar is gone… I’m doing the same drop today, battled the rear half in the rain. Now to do the front tomorrow.
Yeah the sway bar links were completely broken off so I pulled it off as I was waiting for links and doing other stuff. The finished product is worth the work!

Is anyone else putting on this kit with a Midwest rusted out frame - yes. Can I do it in my driveway - yes. Thank you so much. After driving it for a month have you ran into any issues? What size tires are you running and do they rub?
Haven't had any issues, I just have the factory wheels and tire size
@@bikesandbangs the link you have for the Amazon kit, is that the same thing but with brackets you don’t need to modify? There’s a review on that Amazon product bashing the springs for not securing and being extremely dangerous? Are yours like that? I know in your video you showed yours being fine but go read that review and give me your opinion. Thanks
Well when I initially looked at it, that Amazon kit looked like it would work. Maybe that one has its flaws too. Hadn't seen any reviews when I first came across it. I guess you could always do the eBay one and grind the axle flip brackets a bit if they don't quite fit out of the box. It's hard to know if the Amazon guy is correct or even knows what he's doing too
Exactly what. I was thinking, maybe the shop is just a bunch of sissy’s haha. We sr out here throwing a 200$ eBay special on a cheap ranger it’s obviously not gonna be perfect. I think I’ll order the eBay one. Did you ever get your camber fixed? How hard was that ?

Would this kit fit the 98 "regular cab splash ranger" aka single cab 2 door side step?
The axle flip and the rear will fit your Ranger... All small rangers actually but the front on your Ranger is independent suspension so it will need a different lowering spring and a lowering A arm. Your suspension started in 1998 and went until the end of the small ranger production which was 2012 here in the states. The kit in this video is designed to fit 1993 to 1997 Rangers with twin I beam suspension.
They sell a lowering kit for your truck also and it is under 300 bucks for the front and rear for a basic kit and the plus side is you won't need a camber kit unlike a twin I-beam truck.
One last thing in order to maintain a decent ride make sure to get lowering shocks with your kit, it's worth the extra hundred or 200 bucks for them.
