Very true about Geely writing back. I wrote to the Geely subsidy firm Riddara about when their RD6 pickup will be coming to Germany. I didn't really expect an answer but the next day I got a reply thanking me for the interest and details about their plan for Germany. Very impressed!!
hi Sam, this car has already been launched in Thailand at the Bangkok Motor Expo last month. The top model is priced at 29k USD. BYD temporarily cuts the price of Atto extended range to 26.5k USD
Yes, it's being launched today under the Proton brand as e.MAS7 with tweeks done on ride and handling. The software has also been customised to adapt to Malaysian infrastructure
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience. It has been incredibly valuable to me. I look forward to the opportunity to learn more from you in the future.
Hey Sam, been watching a lot of your videos on TH-cam since I started looking for a EV mid sized SUV. I’ve noticed that the recent models released and sold in China Zeekr 7x, BYD sea lion 7, Geely Galaxy E5 all come with lifetime warranty on battery, motor and electrical systems. I only realised this when I Google translated the product launch videos of the presentation slides and from their Chinese websites spec page. Even got a friend who reads mandarin to verify it. Was hoping with your contacts with the car manufacturers you could ask/confirm if they will bring it over to Australia when they launch it here? Perhaps this will be a good video to produce with information for prospective EV buyers who have been working about the reliability and life span of these components? If they bring them over, this will definitely be the tipping point for ICE owners to EV. Thanks!
@@ProfBarkley Agreed, however, with battery prices dropping so substantially it doesn't make sense to short change range, esp. when the CLTC range estimates are overcooked...
BYD is worried about this car and about 6 to 9 months away from matching it with an upgraded model. Geely focused on the atto 3 trying to better it in every way
The EU charges the usual 10% for all imported cars including hybrids. Their added tax regime applies to 100% full electric cars. The Chinese appear to be moving towards hybrids to export and full electric cars to be assembled in the EU in counttries courting the Chinese. ie Spain, Hungary, and maybe Germany and Italy. Having said that, right now, China has halted and frozen all investments of EV in the EU.
For the price of EUR 14.500 in China it´s an amazing car and fine proposal. I wonder what it will cost new in Europe: EUR 43.500? More? And immediately the buyers perspective changes completely, not to speak that it will loose the total of what it costs new in China after the first year in Europe. Go figure..... PS: the Atto 3 starts at EUR 41.995,- in its cheapest version (!) Europeans are afraid of EVs? No, they are not. They are afraid of pricing, having to finance the purchase and possibly loosing a huge amount when/if they don´t like it.
I see both sides of the argument. We can let all these amazing, inexpensive China EV's into the U.S., and watch as 8 million people lose their jobs and the economy goes into recession. But if we block them, our domestic car makers will continue lazily selling overpriced garbage. I would set a time limit on the tariffs and say "Okay, GM/Ford/Stellantis, you have 4 years to get your act together." Note that Tesla is doing fine.
@@ChickensAndGardening me too I get it, however, I don't see anyone complaining about their Chinese iPhones or Korean Televisions... Or countless other imported electrical items. Just saying...

For Malaysia, it will be launch today under the proton eMAS brand

The G.G.E5 is simply beautiful beyond category or price.
It's coming to Malaysia as the Proton Emas. Since Geely is a large co-owner of Proton
The massive domestic market is enabling innovations and improvements to the EVs in China. The entire "open" world will benefit.
Trump will build a wall of protectionism and propose China pay for it. Although it will be us consumers who actually will.
Geely looks like they have some very desirable models.
Great and updated content Sam... cool... nice work and hard work from you to inform us about the updates... thank you...

Nice work and I am impressed of the speed you make your videos with a good content

I guess it will be release in Malaysia as a Proton car.
Hi Sam!
Ok if Geely listens to feedback then please give it substantially more range for Australia and I’d pay more no worries mate.
zeekr is their higher range brand. geely galaxy is designed to be entry level

CLTC aren't overcooked. It is the driving standard and condition over in their place. You'll have to adjust to WLTP accordingly.

They cannot sell them cheap else they'll be slapped with the "overcapacity" label. Look like europeans are taken for a ride by its leaders.
Shame it looks like FWD
These kinds of vidoes just frustrate us North Americans. We will never have access to these nice EVs.
No doubt, if you look up the definition of protectionism it's just a GIF if our flag waving... 😅

Wouldn't take much to be better than the BYD ATTO 3
First ev released. So it's a bit dated now. The Atto refresh should be ready next year.
