Great video. I play most par 5’s with a 3 iron off the tee, 3 iron off the fairway, and then a gap wedge to the green...lots of birdie opportunities, lots of pars. I just feel more comfortable and confident off the tee with an iron. I fly the 3 iron 230-240, so I do loose some yardage, but I’m 99% in the fairway. I struggle with a driver or 3 wood, so I don’t bag either. Long par 4’s are tough to birdie, but I have no illusions of being pro. Once I figured out what this video is preaching, golf became so much more enjoyable and I started scoring under 80 consistently. Heck, I’ve played some of my best rounds this year with just 3-5-7-9-A and a putter...playing safe and consistent shots.
I agree with the last comment. Possibly the best golfing video on TH-cam. Find your own identity. I am very comfortable, Competitive and brilliant with taking my 2 rescue 16° rather than my driver. That is my identity!!!
Golf Science Lab I am surprised that this video it’s not getting a lot of use it because the concept makes perfect sense. I think majority of the people want to hit their drivers even though it’s only 15% -40% accurate. I played against an 8 hcper over the weekend and even though we had a lot of rain in England I still managed to get my 2 rescue 16° past or even or slightly behind his driver most of the time.
There is a pretty big gap in distance between a 3 wood and a 3 iron. So possibly. Are you finding yourself without a club to use in certain situations?
@@busa89 I actually just obtained a 18 degree 5 wood (41¼ inches) last month (I also went ahead and bent my 3 iron to 21). I refuse to carry a 4th wedge as I'm not into anything higher than 56.
next time you do this test, please use 3 different colored balls so we can tell easily which one is which. by the way the best option was 3iron / 3 iron/ chip

Love it! Great to hear you have done some testing and figured out what works best for you.

Your best choice may vary from round to round. Sometimes even hole to hole. Play your most confident shot.
I have a question.
I have a 43-inch 14 degree 3-wood and a 39¼ inch 19 degree 3-iron.
Should there be a club in between these (like a 5 wood) or no?

This was highly scientific.
would have be better to know how much yardage he gave up using 3w and 3i. if fact this video was a waste of time.
We'll make sure to do that next time!
What's the point of this video?? Just babbling..
I was wondering the same thing.
