I love the implication of "Being Gay" being the "affliction from which we all suffer" makes EVERYONE IN THE SHOW GAY. Viktor? Gay. Jayce? Gay. Cait's Dad? Gay. Cait's Mom? Dead. Vander? Gay.
I'm really curious if Dustin's opinion changes after episode 6 and 7 because I think those 2 episodes are the ones that actually refocus the story. I thought the first season, while more sparsely paced, had a more focused story from start to finish. It was a story focused around Jinx and Vi, Jayce and Viktor from start to finish with a bit of side action with Cait and Mel. Season 2 in comparison through the first 5 episodes was really scattered, IMO. Every episode feels like it's doing its own thing aside from 4 and 5 which is kind of a 2 episode story. Episode 1 was kind of the reintroduction episode, episode 2 was its own thing with trying to redefine Jinx, episode 3 was there to set up Cait's heel turn, episode 4 brought Vander back into the mix, and episode 5 was the climax of that. 6, 7, 8, and 9 are much more of a connective narrative in comparison.
After more that a few rewatches. I think Vander and Silco loved Vi and Powder's mom, platonically. It just dawned on me that Vander "Brokeback Mountained" their jackets. Neither of them were ever married to a woman or even mentioned one. Could it be THEY had a thing?!
Nope, they're not gay. The 3 grew up in the slums and they look out for one another like a family. It's called a brotherhood/sisterhood/loyalty. It's the same thing with Jayce and Viktor.
the songs that they use for the show are usually written specifically for this show, so thats why they feels so on the nose when they use them in sequence with the montages
Hi, Caitlyn defender here😅 I think this episode has one of the most pivotal scenes for Caits turn away from Ambessa. The scene in Singed lab. The show does not tell us this but we can see it on Caitlyns face. She meets an esteemed scientist from Piltovers upper class that has decided to do horrible things in the name of love, and while i dont think Cait has done anything iredeemable yet (dont get me wrong she has definetly done some bad stuff, but she has also tried to keep Ambessas warmongering in check as much as possible) she can see herself and har motivations mirrored in Singed, he is what she could become if she keeps walking down this path, and it terrifies her. She is already distrustful of Ambessa, and she is looking for a way out, the fact that Ambessa went behind her back to get Singed on her team just solidifies it even more, which explains why she folds so fast later (its not fast, it is just comunicated more subtle)
Viktor uses Salo like a sock-puppet and everyone is wondering, "Is this something I should worry about?" Yes. Eldritch horror Viktor is definitely something we should worry about.
I *want* to hear _Dustin's_ counterpoints. It is part of what makes watching along with you so interesting. He may even be able to articulate what I am at a loss at expressing myself.
I’m in the same boat as Dustin: MOST of this show is “music video+”, which is fine as an experimental, edgy testbed but not in of itself an accomplished narrative I think it’s more enjoyable than other shows falling into the same criticism, but even after the first season I felt like it was fine to sleep on
Interesting detail that foreshadows what Viktor's 'healing' is doing to people, in case the hivemind thing / Salo's personality transplant and lack of self-preservation weren't disturbing enough: while you can see clouds of Jayce's breath as he speaks, Salo emits none, like he's either not breathing or cold inside.
Whoa, cyberpunk was a bad show? I wondered why that one stopped after 3 reactions, now I’m curious about the notes on that one too! I personally enjoyed cyberpunk, but tbh I can only remember the ending and how it made me feel(which was emotionally wrecked 😆)
Sci-fi is already a tough genre to like stuff, and cyberpunk really isn't for everyone. I like most of the themes but if I knew beforehand what I was getting into, I'd rather not have watched something that just made me mad at almost all the characters. 😅
confetti for curiosity towards Jayce instead of immediately pulling a dagger on him. also, love Dustin sharing a differing opinion. Arcane S2 was a 3-5/5 while Arcane S1 was 4-5/5 so it’ll neat to see how the discussion goes about the show wrapping things up.
I feel like what may've added to the issues that Dustin pointed out is that there was a passage of time that wasn't really clear between ep.3 and 4, that you don't really get well keyed into until a bit later.
honestly yeah that perfectly describes singed hes in it for the science. He just wants to know if he can. Maybe more so in lore then arcane but hes just starting off only just got funding lol. i think when they go to noxus that side of singed will shine a lot more for uh well obvious reasons if you know what happens when singed goes to noxus lel
i was worry that you were talking while the song was playing, setting up the hug scene. I was like "please pay attention, focus in the environment that the music is creating, discuss later"
Dustin, there is a decent contingent of people disappointed that this season isn't as focused on the disparity of the undercity and piltover as the first season. As well as not having enough time to flesh out the series. I think there are def parts of it that are much weaker than the first season. I personally love all the music stuff however so you are flat wrong about that😜
Weren't the songs made directly FOR the show? It seems like they would, of course, have lyrics that are directly related to the part of the show. I suppose one could not like that they did that, but that was what they chose to do. I like it. Getting tons of different artists to make songs directly for a situation is amazing. I especially love the french song in ep 7, if you look up the lyrics.
I agree with Dustin, I normally would have dropped the show too but just watched it to see how it ended. Compared to the first season that had me the whole way, I'm never re-watching this.
the argument still stands. I like lyrics to evoke ideas not be a Caillou Sing-a-Long to exactly what is happening on screen. jfc y'all can't compute a shred of nuance.
Do they normally talk this much during a reaction? Esp is it Morgan? the girl. I feel like she always talks so much during pivotal moments in the episode.
I admit i was upset at the reveal that Vi and powder/jinx mom was really really close friends with Vander and Silko. I could be biased. But as someone who was orphaned and adopted i think the themes and character arcs are stronger if Vandar doesn’t know the mom and girls as well. Frankly this weak. Most people would do this. It is one thing to see your best friend get killed and decided fighting has a personal price. I mean that is normal. It speaks volumes if you see dead families in your community. People you know from just being around but you don’t know intimately. Setting down your gauntlets because people in your community died is far more interesting than your friend died and you cary her children to safety. (I do not think my interpretation contradicts the text of season one. Vandar is a man of the people. Deeply imbedded in his community. He could have seen this family around. The parents could have visited his bar and the daughters could have met him out and about. I think it is reasonable for him to recognize them and know that the parents were part of his rebellion.) The price of war being the community is more nuanced. I really liked the implication that children that he didn’t know well caused him to lay down his weapons and walk away. Never to cross that bridge again. An opinion but yes i think this weaker. Before anyone says, but mylo and clagor. Yeah well Vadar seeing Vi and Powder as his nieces or even his pseudo daughters before the battle open the door to Mylo and clagor being family by blood too. What if the children Vandar cared about enough to adopt were already family. Weakens the found family image/themes. They could be his bio sons or bio nephews. They could be family through inlaws of cousins. Who knows. Vi and powder being family opens this door and i do not like this. It was always possible that mylor and clagor where his family by blood or marriage. But the found family vibes were strong. Now it seems to just be a reorganized family and that is disappointing. Again an opinion of someone who is adopted. Les me know if you agree or disagree.
@ thanks. A lot of people are still rapped up in the fan service to seriously think about the theme and character arc being altered. To be clear i really liked that we got a scene with the mom. Whose name i cannot spell. I just wish it was a different scene. Maybe a memory from vi about her mom and dad doing something with her alone?
That's an interesting POV. Though the problem I had with it goes kinda in the opposite direction, that in S1 Vander and Silco didn't treat the girls with the familiarity I would've expected. If they've known each other their whole lives, it feels awkward watching most of their interactions being somewhat reserved.
Dustin, I’m not mad atcha. I don’t think season 2 is as strong as season 1 is. I will say though that the fascist stuff is all being framed pretty firmly as bad, but it does kind of damage the escapism when our real world is also getting even more fascist. I get it, my guy. But I also think the show is trying to work on a cautionary level.
I'm sad that Dustin wasn't vibing with season 2 as much as I was, but I hope he feels confident enough to say what's on his mind. Sometimes content just doesn't resonate as strongly with you. There are movies that people sing the praises of, and reference constantly, that I just can't see the appeal of at all. Not that I'm going to be a downer about them liking it of course, but yeah its okay that you feel like there are areas of the season that aren't meeting your expectations. I do hope that by the end you feel like a few more of those expectations have been met. Especially since I find it *really* sad that you think you would have probably stopped watching it, if you hadn't been doing it for the channel.

3:30 The Moracle has transcended 🤯
We all suffer from gay, correct.
Some of us enjoy it
That first joke... oh, Dustin.
Sean: (Calvin Kandee meme impression)
🏳🌈
I love the implication of "Being Gay" being the "affliction from which we all suffer" makes EVERYONE IN THE SHOW GAY. Viktor? Gay. Jayce? Gay. Cait's Dad? Gay. Cait's Mom? Dead. Vander? Gay.
What you just did to Cait's mom was *FILTHY* and I'm mad that I laughed at it.
“I’ve always liked the name Violet” absolutely hurt my feelings 😭
Dustin was chilling the whole ep until he wanted some laughing violence around @19:09
hhahahaha lmao
when caitlyn's new look droped the community was calling her (excuse the language) Count Fagula
That family reunion hug hit me like one of Vi's sucker punches
Big time, and that’s about all Vander has left to do as a character sadly
Jinx was in the crowd watching Vi fight. There is one second where you see Jinx's hand holding up a betting slip showing she bet on Vi.
Was not expecting that opening joke and I laughed out loud 😆
Vi looks way more strong and badass than ever in this episode 🔥
It's a Luigi!
3:30 The moracle knows all
Could you explain it? Is it something in Arcane or irl?
When Caitlyn heard Vi turned to the scotch over the break up and she just had to 1up her
“She’s gay… I mean, it’s Piltover”
HSKFJDJFJDJFJD SO VALID

it does
Evan is a legend, this edit is so effin funny
He is so good, im dying
Funny how Arcane and the class divide is more relevant than ever.. 4 days before huh?
Gurl....😳
This series was such a breath of fresh air. I never cared for LoL but their animated series I need more in my veins
5:55 this guy's entire career is getting one-shotted by Vi
19:10 I ABSOLUTELY DIED AT THIS PART 😭 😂
After more that a few rewatches. I think Vander and Silco loved Vi and Powder's mom, platonically. It just dawned on me that Vander "Brokeback Mountained" their jackets. Neither of them were ever married to a woman or even mentioned one. Could it be THEY had a thing?!
You might actually be onto something
Damn, everyone in Piltover really is gay 🤔
not every body is gay duh
no, they’re brothers who parallel the biological sisters intentionally
Nope, they're not gay. The 3 grew up in the slums and they look out for one another like a family.
It's called a brotherhood/sisterhood/loyalty. It's the same thing with Jayce and Viktor.
The disclaimer was👌😂😂😂
the songs that they use for the show are usually written specifically for this show, so thats why they feels so on the nose when they use them in sequence with the montages
this shouldn't need to be explained
yeah......... we know. That's what makes it distracting and occassionally off putting. It works more of less most of the time.
@ I’m guessing y’all aren’t fans of musicals since it’s all music that’s on point with what’s happening
wait, this is a musical?
@@SeanTanktop I was being legit not trying to be rude. Intentional miss reading is unbecoming of you

Funniest opening to one of these reactions so far 🤣

11:48 XD sluuuurrrrp
Kinda think the art for Isha indicates she looks a bit like Vi... and Vi sees it, Powder's being a big sister to someone like her. Blowing her mind.
woahhh, that is the best interpretation of Isha I have seen and I totally see it!!
Whoa, cyberpunk was a bad show? I wondered why that one stopped after 3 reactions, now I’m curious about the notes on that one too! I personally enjoyed cyberpunk, but tbh I can only remember the ending and how it made me feel(which was emotionally wrecked 😆)

Never thought I’d see a juggalo reference in the year of our lord 2024. We are all so old now 😭🤣
You need to see more than jinx seeing a younger version of herself? What about realizing that she didnt 100% kill their former family?
confetti for curiosity towards Jayce instead of immediately pulling a dagger on him. also, love Dustin sharing a differing opinion.

During that flashback when she said she was pregnant silco and vander looked at each other like is it yours or mine.
26:15 apparently the internets believes Vander and Silko each had a thing for Vi and Powder’s mumma

Glad Dustin had his time to speak his mind, his grievances aren't a rare complaint tbh
3:41 She's freaking uncanny. I have joked about The Moracle, but this is getting a bit spooky 😮 Any thoughts about the next Powerball numbers?
Pop a couple CEOS and we all win.... and by pop i mean......hug...
@Morganinthebar of course, of course. Hug them :)
I agree with Dustin, I normally would have dropped the show too but just watched it to see how it ended. Compared to the first season that had me the whole way, I'm never re-watching this.
Maybe the music is on the nose because it’s all original and created for the show.
the argument still stands. I like lyrics to evoke ideas not be a Caillou Sing-a-Long to exactly what is happening on screen. jfc y'all can't compute a shred of nuance.
Silco is atleast partially responsible for felicia's death , I think thats enough reason to not really bring it up with jinx
Do they normally talk this much during a reaction? Esp is it Morgan? the girl. I feel like she always talks so much during pivotal moments in the episode.
