The way I wasn't okay for 24 hours. I watched that episode, literally cried all night and all the next day at work. Then I played the end of Dragon Age where I had no more tears left. I STILL can't watch this episode to the end.
He is saying that the commune would always fail. Because at some point human emotion will create conflict, which is what Singed tried to tell him earlier in the episode.
English not being my first language is probably a blessing because I hear the songs lyrics but it’s like I don’t understand the meaning unless I focus on them so for me it’s like background music. I understand why it bugs you. It’s a shame you are really focused on that now. Luckily there are a few songs in others languages
Mandarin definitely is a softer, less throaty, melodic language and singing so I totally get the sense that the lyrics don't pull you out because in English speaking ears it just sounds like notes moving up and down.
39:25 Genuinely, this is a very common take, and to each their own, but I find it kind of a garbage take that's been born of shitty and inefficient writing everywhere else. What do you actually need more of? Scenes of Caitlyn doubting Ambessa? What about the one where she showed up at Singed's lab and Ambessa was surprised to see her and Cait was fully ready to murderize Ambessa's new toy scientist? Or of her doubts and struggles with Ambessa's methods in Ep. 4? Even one more hint dispells any suspense or possibility of suspense in the Vi/Ambessa sequence. Did we want more of Vander and the girls? Sure, for what? Just for cool factor? Happy times? That's called filler. Did we need more of Viktor establishing his commune or its dangers and problems? Or was the fact that a Viktors followers don't interact with temperature or seem to feel cold or hot or fear or much of anything enough? Salo's husk generated no breath in the freezing cold room where Jayce squished him, and his guts came out purple. He was also taking hex crystals back to Viktor, for what purpose we're never shown. Viktor's commune has to appear Utopian or it undercuts the experience of this Ep and the next. Season 2 set an absolutely blazing pace, but it handled a lot of storytelling super efficiently and with powerful emotional resonance, which, what else do we want? I can agree with the noticeable uptick in quality when not every episode has a music video cold open. I do think that's a neat montage trick, but it is very slightly overused in Act1/2. The cold opens in Episodes 3 and 4 are especially weird because they cover a bot small span of time, days or weeks in the first instance, weeks or months in the second.
It snuck up on me but in just a couple short episodes Isha became my favorite character. I always knew it would end badly, but it still absolutely destroyed me. Poor little kid 😭
It’s funny because neither of those impulsive plans were Jayce’s yet he gets all the blame from what came of those plans. Wonder why. (I don’t wonder why at all.)
"The commune was perfectly fine" with an army literally at it's gate, Piltover's most wanted hiding out there, a giant werewolf monster and a mad scientist willing to sacrifice everything if it meets his endgame. Yeah I'm not sure the place was gonna last even if Jayce didn't show up lmao.
While losing Isha and Vander in one shot (pardon the pun) is tragic in itself….it is also a much darker, and poetic moment at the same time. Vander was fully aware of what was going on when Warwick was on the rampage….but like a passenger in a car, he was completely unable to control it when it was happening. Imagine being in that situation where you see the carnage “you” are causing, and being 100% helpless to stop it. So when Isha pulled the trigger….she was doing Vander a kindness. The other thing we now need to keep in mind is Ambessa’s comment. “Your absence provided a vacuum I was able to fill.” That will become VERY important…soon.
17:09 I'm.... honestly surprised you all didn't comment on Caitlyn wiping Vi's spit *_towards_* her mouth rather than away. Who knew Caitlyn be nasty like that? 😁😁
I think y'all are concentrating on Jayce a lot and not at the fact that... Victor doesn't seem to be helping these people, does he? They don't breathe. They don't have personalities. They're all just reflections of Victor. Are y'all not realizing that something is up with his "community"?
They'll probably need a song about it with some "on the nose" lyrics to understand how creepy and ominous this soulless empty arcane-machine commune is...
Your being too nice to Cait. Caitlyn is 3rd most morally reprehensible person on the show. I'd put her just behind Ambessa, and Singed. She understood how the undercity had been abused and repressed, but when they fight back and she looses just her mother, she goes to war. Apparently any piltover life and especially her mothers life are with 1000's of the cockroaches living beneath her boot! Uses Vi in a deplorable way then dumps her for weak reasons and revenge. How many mothers did she help kill with her pollution and her vendetta with Jinx? How may Father's.? How many children were killed by her actions. F Catlyn and her now crappy legacy. One of the best characters to one of the worst people! Yes she is still a good character. Just make sure you see her clearly!
People wanting revenge for a close family member's death is a normal and commonly portrayed reaction, especially in media. Don't pretend like this is something new or unheard of. Caitlyn was an impressionable woman, who had a lot of sympathy for Zaunites and tried to do what she could to fight for them, and karma spat in her face by rewarding her with a terrorist attack that resulted in her mother's death. Then when she tries to pay her respects at the memorial service being held, she and her situationship are almost killed, while a large number of top side civilians and people she's worked with, are killed in cold blood. This results in piling on more trauma to her crumbling mental state. As for the Gray, it was shown to make people sick, but there was nothing shown that implied she was straight up killing people in her pursuit of Jinx. She definitely sent a large number of Zaunites to prison though, especially if they had known associations to Shimmer or the Chem Barons. Caitlyn is a very flawed character who's desire to do good was blinded by the loss of her mother, and she isn't so foolish as to think her mistakes can be erased, no matter her guilt. Let's not paint her out to be anywhere close to as monstrous as Ambessa or Singed. There's a pretty hefty gap in morality between them, and Caitlyn herself realized that she was headed down the same path as Singed in episode 5, which gave her the wake up call she needed to start reassessing herself going forward.
every reactor i've watched (and myself) have found this season for the most part underwhelming, rushed, stuffed to the brim with needless music video montages but not the information we actually wanted or needed and very on the nose lyrics, so it's not just you guys. it sucks that this is how it was after the 1st season was basically perfect. they needed 1-2 more seasons for this show to work with the amount of plotlines they introduced. all the arcane bs should've been saved for last. these big bombastic scenes feel like they would've worked with 1 more season of buildup but it's just unearned like this.
Which reactors are you watching? Most I've seen love the season and though they agree it's a little rushed pace at times, was still a great story (and with solid music). These guys are definitely outliers for reactors from what I've seen on their dislike of the music but to all their own! But yes even just an extra arc would've been nice to help pace the story a little better.
it was absolutely rushed. but we knew it was going to be before it was even released. the creators publicly announced that Netflix wasn't green-lighting them for another season (or even enough money for a few extra episodes) even though it 100% needed it. So while you're right, it's on Netflix. The creators and crew were fantastic and imo gave a masterclass on making the best of what you got. And although it was underwhelming and I wish it wasnt rushed...i enjoyed it and still consider it my favorite animated show of the year (top 5 of all time)

Soooooo tough
No one has tears left for dragon age 😂

Sometimes you can see tragedy coming a mile away and it still hits like a train when it comes at ya.
He is saying that the commune would always fail. Because at some point human emotion will create conflict, which is what Singed tried to tell him earlier in the episode.
this!☝
The lyrics were never subtle in season 1 either. They made a 20-song soundtrack specifically to embody these characters. Thats the point

Exactly same.
isha means “one who protects” and she lived up to her name at every opportunity 💔
25:09 Always sad to see the Moracle predicting her own unhappiness. Like predicting a tsunami and knowing you aren’t going to escape it.

The entirety of Act 2 had me in tears especially this episode 😢
And the enemy of children strikes again. Jace, the one whose impusive actions usually bring doom to some children.

the doctor inject his needle to vander I guess
Victor got the death becomes her exit this episode.
Normally , they want more episode for this season , but Netflix say No . They must cut lot of stuff ( typically Cait reverse his mind)
Goodbye, Isha the plot device. Hardly knew ya.
So the lesson is you should turn the subtitles off?
Oh yeah, watch the lyrics video of Isha's Song (it's in Chinese) if you want to feel pain.
These guys? Hell no. They apparently hate when lyrics fit the story
I think most non-HI subtitles take out the songs.
trust. i was in denial
Hive mind? Naaaah, Jayce did the right thing.
Oh the misery!
the thing about Vi spitting at Caitlyn
Usually you wipe the spit away from yourself
Caitlyn smeared the spit towards her mouth
noticed that my first watch 🤣 you know caitlyn loves that shid behind closed doors.
what if caitlyn was a freak and her name was freaklyn
Ah so they don't like non linear story telling good to know
Dustin doesn't like any media that uses the music to overtly say parts of a story. *cough* Hasbin *cough*
What did you just say???💀 21:11
