I think its the MAP sensor you took out. TPS sensor is riveted in the left side of it, but you can get actual screws for them.

i gave my cousin my old ‘99 cr-v, and it’s super laggy, like no power at all whatsoever. you can’t get over 10 mph. i’m going to try cleaning the throttle body, so thank you for this vid! i’ve never done this before, and i was kind of worried it was going to be complicated. seems really easy. if anyone has any other suggestions to what the problem might be, i’m open to anything.

You could also check/tighten the throttle cable and check for vacuum leaks

I can, but you basically just remove the 2 10mm bolts, remove the 2 coolant lines and clean it as best you can, then reinstall

When is it necessary to adjust idle? I'm about to give mine some IACV/TPS love, and plan on removing the TB to do so. I'm a pretty good part swapper, and was feeling good about the repair, until I realized it might throw off my idle. I don't have the tools to read/adjust my ignition timing ATM.

There is an idle learn procedure, once you do that, the computer should adjust the idle for you

A friend of mine has a 2000 Civic... and I want to clean her MAF Sensor or as you call it, TPS Sensor. And clean just the outer part of her throttle body...
Her air intake tube has a big handle on the top of it. I have a 95 civic Del Sol. It does not have that handle. I am wondering what that is for? I assume I take of that tube just like mine... I can't find a video with this.

Hi Mike, a MAF sensor and a TPS are 2 very different things. The 99-00 si does not have a MAF, so please make sure you have the right sensor and are using the correct cleaner.
I don’t know what you mean by “handle” but if it’s a part of the intake tube you should be able to remove the whole intake tube so you can clean the throttle body.

@@GirlieGarage yes, I know how to do this on my car... and mine is called a Mass Air Flow Sensor, Maf. I have cleaned it a few times and the Intake tube... this ladies int just different... no worries... and yes I do use the Correct cleaner for this... as it's more sensitive... Thank you!

Well, I found out when it's necessary to relearn idle..lol What a PITA. Question? '99 Honda Civic HX (D16Y5) After the TB cleaning, etc. I'm still dealing with a high idle. Idle relearned, then addressed some suspected small vacuum leaks, (still gotta change PCV grommet this weekend) still there. I set the base idle where the car seems to adjust itself to (about 1000 RPM) but the screw is only about 3/4 turn out from bottomed out, so I definitely know it's a band aid at this point. Now, long story short. I finally got hold of a lower tier scanner that reads my TPS at 9% at idle or even when the key is switched on. I calibrated it with a multimeter, and got .49 and 4.54, but I just feel like it should be 0%. Is .49v supposed to show around 9%? Is 9% the default air requirement for idle, supplied by the IAC systems, and it's just a fuel request? Am I totally confused? The Internet seems divided, and my searches are clogged with answers related to electronic TB's.

It’s never at 0. When doing the relearn procedure I believe you’re also supposed to jump the service connector, so make sure if that’s required for your engine you’re doing that, otherwise the computer will just compensate and it won’t “relearn” anything

After cleaning my throttle, I got the infamous p0505. Already replaced the IACV and bleed the coolant but cannot figure out why it keeps coming back.
