I found a very simple solution for creating lovely Arps with the TD-3. If you use Logic Pro you can connect the TD-3 as a "External Instrument" inside Logic. Then set in the TD-3 the clock "internal". Now you can load in Logic a MIDIFX ( i use XFER Cthulhu) in the TD-3 instrument. And you can play beautiful Arps with the TD-3. If there is interest in this solution i will try to make a video (never did one before) Sorry Pete dont want to hijack your thread
Bin auch deutscher weisste:) Und nachdem der deutsche dank dem Österreicher genug an Identität und Stolz verloren hat, is Techno definitiv wat, worauf ich stolz bin:)
Hi Pete, I came across this video whilst searching for TD-3. Really rather good and has inspired me to use the arpigiator on my Arturia Keystep to drive my TD-3. It's an easy function to use, so hopefully the tunrs wibe almost as satisfying as yours. Brian
Really Brilliant, Pete. Well Done! Entertaining talk-through, enjoyable video action - and Mesmerizing Arpeggios! Floated straight back to TD Phaedra & Rubycon, thru late 90s trance, and landed somewhere leftfield of today. You're very inspiring, Mate! Liked & subbed. .... Time to stretch my keystep ... Vielen dank und beste grüße aus Warschau!
Today i got my td-3. I am using the arturia keystep to control the td-3. The keystep also has a sequenz- and arpeggiator function. Works good for me and its a quick setup.
I've had a RD-8 about 6 months and a TD-3 about 3 months. While I've had some pretty good success pulling badass sounds from the TD-3 with a canyon delay (though any delay will help it shine) and a phaser, your device sounds like exACTly what I WANT my TD-3 to sound like all the time. It's truly the missing circuit for the TD-3 I honestly think you could try and put together a standalone box as an add-on for 303's. Really appreciate all your videos man, you very much know how to nail down the particulars of a thing and speak to what matters.
Great video Pete! Wow, Behringer really has a thing about over selling the arppegiation capabilities of their synths. They market the Pro 1 as having 3 patterns on their website. In reality it only has Up and Up/Down. Technically you can toggle it to OFF but, it seems cheap to consider that an arpeggiation mode.
Well, Pro-1 is the recreation of the Sequential circuits Pro One, so of course it has only two modes. I have the Pro-1, but I rarely ever use the built in sequencer and arpeggiator, since I have that in the Keystep.
This is clever. I have experimented with a similar implementation that only requires a single TD3. Basically I create the patterns in the TD3 sequencer, then I record them as MIDI clips into Ableton. Then I use the MIDI scale filter to conform the pitches to a scale of my choosing. Then I can use the MIDI clips plus filter to control the TD3.
Im dancing in my undergarments by the light of the moon reflecting off the Danube! I`m mesmerized , Pete you are the Pied Piper of Techno !!! Market it that add-on !!! I want one !
Great video. Right now I am converting SNES audio boards (64Kbytes of RAM but 16-bit samples are stored as 4-bit ADPCM) because they support upto 8 channels and the option of any combination of channels through the FIR filter so: dft([a(0), a(1), a(2), a(3), a(4), a(5), a(6), a(7)]) = [A(0), A(1), A(2), A(3), A(4), A(3)*, A(2)*, A(1)*] I think Nintendo give some examples: 7F 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - echo 18 18 18 18 18 18 18 18 - Eliminates 4, 8, 12 and 16 kHz. 0C 2B 2B 2B 28 FF F8 F9 - Band-stop between 6 kHz and 8.5 kHz (-15 dB). Smooth Low-pass cut-off at 13 kHz (-18 dB). 01 02 04 08 10 20 40 80 - high-pass filter 00 00 00 40 00 28 00 FE - notch filter with 8KHz at it's centre 34 33 00 D9 E5 01 FC EB - Ripples at 11 kHz ~ 13 kHz, 15 kHz ~ 16 kHz. But what the researchers have not made plain is that the 8-bit values are signed. For what it's worth, the SNES has a seperate daughter-board for audio. It has 64Kbytes of it's own memory, an SPC700 processor running at 1.024MHz and powerful DMA. I need to look much further but it seems very likely that the 8 FIR filters represent not consecutive samples but rather 64 or 128 samples apart and so knowing this, the cunning programmer can update the FIR setting so that one effect merges into another without having to suspend play. AFAIK the boards cost $20 but programming would require either a system with multiple parallel ports (kind of unlikely) or someone better than me at USB 2.0 communications so that: www.raphnet.net/electronique/snes_apu/APU_Interface.png The address can be set & held (or more specifically, increased after every write) and the 8 (4 x 2-bit) data lines are sent serials (again set and hold). I'm damned sure I can get the thing working on a PC but it isn't much use if it isn't possible to make hundreds or thousands of them that are cheap and reliable. I would be interested to know if Pete Midi is old enough to remember SNES games. In fact, when I worked for Core Design, I wrote a Master System, Megadrive, PC, NES, Game Gear, Gameboy, MegaCD & 32X music/SFX driver but because we only ever did 2 SNES titles, it wasn't seen as worthwhile to produce a sound drive. I know that C64 chips are now worth a fortune but how many broken SNES's are lying around with perfectly fine sound cards? To TEST them, a parallel port solution is acceptable but as for converting ti USB, no idea.
Recently ordered a TD-3, after watching your vid now I want a second one. haha. Hearing the two combined and esp with that arp sound was ace. Love your solution to the Arp too, it sounds amazing :)
Fantastic. I nearly ordered one right at the start of the video as I am an aggregator addict. I have a Raspberry pi and am a software developer but don't have the time to fanny around to that extent. Nice jam. Thanks. Lee
Nice! Subscribed. I think I'll stick to external arps coming in over MIDI for now but I like the idea of the two variants of the same pattern. Have done similar with TD-3 + Crave. Didn't sounds as awesome as this though!
Didn’t build one, I uh just connected it via midi in from my Alessis andromeda or my darkstar and boom td-threpeggio. Also logic or ableton midi effects + arpeggiator etc etc
It `s genius. __ The equipment is excellent, but .... much more important is the music that you create, that this music is ABSOLUTELY magical and works literally as moving to another state of consciousness. __ I completely flew away after a few minutes of listening. BRAVO.
You can do all of those things in synth tribe, it's your firm ware updater and it's got some other functionalities.. You can also load a library of patterns. It is a full interface that lets you control the nuances on the unit.. It's not perfect yet but it's not buggy and it's free.
Hi Pete! Great video and arps! I'm a longtime tb & clone owner. You've really taken it to the next level. Is your tutorial video for setting up the arpeggiator incoming any time soon? Maybe you could suggest other ways to achieve this (max for live perhaps?) Keep up the great work, I'm subbed and looking forward to more of your quality content & demos/jams! Super helpful in helping me decide which offering from Behringer is next on my shopping list. Thank you!

id be sitting there for hours playing that great stuff thanks
My Bass Station II has an ACId function in the mixer or filter I think? But even though it cost about as much as both your TD-3's and PI together. (maybe a little more) I don't think I can do what you're doing here, it really sounds amazing! Brought me back to the '90s! great video! I guess Behringer is cheap in more ways than one!? lol!
Pete Midi I actually sent one back. It’s tough to come up with good sequences with three because of the quirks of the sequencer. I bought the MS1 instead
As I am not a huge fan of acid itself, I must say that your video sounds way more tempting than original Behringer ones (and they are good at presenting their products tbh). Spacey and rich sound.
I'm loving this. One of these days I should probably take my head out of my arse and actually use the fact I'm a programmer towards controlling my equipment...

not excactly the same thing here. but yes you can do that and use max4live mono sequencer for example in ableton
hello Martin . do the video please :)
I don't have the TD3 yet (ordering soon), but I use Logic and am interested in this solution, please. A video would be great!
