My dear mother used to make my sister and I the brightest towel poncho's for the beach so she could spot us in the crowds, so you're not wrong about colourful kids clothing. Good idea.
G’day, John. Interesting start with the disagreement, good of you to step in when you did.
Hi John, the Golden Tours went on one. The guide was excellent, an interesting tour. I shall use them again.
Tipper is gorgeous. That star on the forehead is charming and she's so calm.
Blinkers are used when horses are super aware of what is around them. Their eyes are obviously on the side of their head. Keeps them focused
The horse is wearing a fly mask. It shields the horse from the sunlight, from insects, or other irritation that could harm them. It would offer full, if filtered, protection.
You are so informative and love your enthusiasm and humor. Don't change a thing. Hello from 🇺🇲
It appears to me that most of the "nipping" horses seem to go after the puffy coats the most.
They probably think it’s a Marshmallow 😅
Thank you, John. Another beautiful day at Horse Guards. Some excitement and beautiful horses with outstanding troopers and soldiers. ❤
All you have to do is watch the horse's ears. Every time he's going to knock or bite his ears will lay back.
I have always loved how they can turn one ear separately to the other. As a child I called them radar ears.😊
Too grown men coming to blows like that tut tut, and you are so funny egging houses on and telling peps get closer, am sat watching thinking go on bite that hat off head 😅😅
C'mon.....somebody give me a hand!
Lyric is beauitful, has shapley legs, long eyelashes and she keps looking straight at uou...so cute..
Shapely*
The little pep talk you gave the angry man was concise, rational, and to the point. Nice work.
7:29 - Thank you John for stepping in when needed! You have a very calm demeanor, and a soothing tone when speaking to folks! Hearing your concern for Buska when speaking to him is typical of who you are! You're just not the type of person that ever sets out to cause problems with anyone, and it's obvious when watching your videos. */* 28:23 - A good shout is universal. Well done to this guard! */* 48:06 - He doesn't speak for me, so says the horse! 🐴😬 */* I love that the shouting has returned!
Bring back SHOUTING! 😂
@@g-mann396 Yes please!! 👏
I'm glad buska was alright and not in trouble.
I, Love ❤ these Beautiful Horses. Better than People. Yes I say what I mean,& mean what I say Better than people.
Dogs and horses are the best!😊
I agree
I admire the horses skills to push away/bite annoying people! 😅 Greetings from Stockholm :)
Good Afternoon John from Austria! Thanks for your amazing Videos!🤪😜😛
That had me in stitches the comment on Russian spies. Then, ‘I’m moving to the front, I don’t want novichok dumped on me’ priceless 😂😂😂
The quote should be in double inverted commas, IE so-called 'quotation marks'.
@@thekeysman6760 oooh picky. Hope you checked the spelling too? 😂😂
Police horse with blinkers may be more easily distracted by activity around him. Some racehorses wear blinkers, to focus on what's ahead of them.
If Buska cant find it within himself to apologise to you for his previous behaviour, at least he should thank you for saving him from arrest!
I have not stopped laughing at John's comments since this video started. Omg he is naturally funny because his comments are spot on in regards to Human behaviour and the lack of Respect for the King's Guard's and King's Guard's Horse's. Great video Thank you.
I love that you know about most of the horse's characteristics and moods.❤
Thanks for trying to keep the peace and looking out for Buska.,
Is Buska the one with the black knit cap?
You carry on John Doin what you do best ,bringing us The Fabulous Horses and troopers @ horse guards and the great Walk abouts in London .We love yr humour and “naughtiness”😂🫣 That’s what makes yr channel one of the best and we thank you for it !!
Buska didn’t think he was in the wrong when he posted that clip of the Kings guard being upset. Lost all respect for him and quite honestly he’s often having altercations with someone.
When was that? Genuinely curious.
I agree, it was so disrespectful of him to put it up, and then refuse to take it down when the young gunner politely asked him to, and sold the footage to the media! No longer watch his channel

Back in the day, where I worked, an abandoned suitcase or bag would have been treated seriously. The area would have been cleared and the 'Bomb Squad' alerted. Chances are you would have been lucky to get a handle back. Abandoned cars, packages, cases etc, were treated the same. I would hate to go back to those seriously dangerous times!
The super relaxed yawning horse is making me sleepy I love it.
Hello all, a oldy but a goldy
An* oldie, not a oldie.
A mobile Tour Bus Cafe would be a great way to see London, seeing the sights while enjoying a cuppa and something to nibble on... So is it Puffy jackets and fur collars the horses dont like?
There used to be one called B's Bakery (Bridget's Bakery) you got on at Victoria coach station it was great fun you travel round London for an hour and a half and have afternoon tea I would highly recommend it. You must always sit upstairs as you can see more lv Lynne from Surrey xx
I love the Blue's and Royals, they take no crap from anyone. They also have my favourite horse King Ormonde.
😂 my favourite too, he stands for no nonsense whatsoever!
I've learned, throughout my time watching these videos on your channel, that it is MUCH more fun to stand back and watch than to possibly get bit! LOL! I have no desire to have my photo taken with these beauties, but you can be assured - I WILL be there people watching!
John, you guys are going to have to be careful. The Police will stop you all filming, which would be a crying shame.
There are a small handful of people now filming with floor-standing poles and THREE mounted phones at once. I hope a crackdown is coming as it's simply too much at this point.
The popularity of Horse Guards has in some ways led to this happening , including unfortunately what happened with the horses back in April . There will always be those waiting for something to happen and catch it on film as happened when the horse fell . I hope as you say John there will be a crackdown sooner rather than later . As you've said previously a licence and fee after a full background check .
@John-G - Yes I know , but as it was horses of The Household Cavalry and attracted massive media and public attention as they are at Horse Guards daily filming there would be a way to possibly catch something happening which would attract views to their channels , as they're unlikely to go to see the horses being exercised on the street .
@John-G , Ok no problem , just a thought .
This shows how you try to be fair to everyone. Respect John.
I looked up the National Front & I think I would not want to be associated w that group either. I certainly wouldnt want to be in their videos for any reason. John, you are a national treasure so please be careful w keeping the peace.
Never a dull moment at Horse Guards, I love it.
Blinkers in the USA are called blinders. Over here they are used for horses not to be overstimulated by blocking what they can see on their sides and rear. That keeps them calmer and more focused on what is ahead of them.
Your friend is right in what he was saying about that guy who confronted him. I've just done some internet searching. His name is Tony Martin. His face matches that exactly of images of him online.
I wish these people will stop messing around with other people and just enjoy watching the horses!
Eye irritation of some type would cause them to put blinkers on so that it does not get worse! Also could be a vision problem or the horse could be head shy on that side from sustaining an injury or being hit repeatedly, or bitten.
Maybe the horse spooks easily and that’s why he has blinders on
It was just a fly mask, to keep the bugs out of the horse's ears and off his eyes. The horse can see through it.
Stun̈ning horses and guards .
Thank you for intervening. I don't understand why tourists bring their luggage. Just leave their luggage at their hotel.
Here in Texas we call them blinders
Blinkers, Blinders, tomato, tomato.. we could gone on for every
They should train all the horses to bite.
Yes Ormonde needs to get busy.
Since horses can see behind them, perhaps the blinkers are to keep him focused and not react to extraneous movement.
No; it was a fly mask used to protect the horse's eyes. Sunlight, insects, wound protection. Regardless, not meant to block vision at all normally.
@@miskaffonYou are right. It is a fly mask. I had to go back and look again.
@@John-G On this planet - completely accurate 👍
That kind of things embarrasses the country in a place that attracts a lot of tourists it's not the way we want our country presented. Well done for stepping in between the two...it was quite childish I thought.
Monsieur John quel bonheur de vous entendre rire et ôter vivacité d’esprit !!!! Merci à vous . Monique . 🇫🇷
The difference between Buska and the NF bloke is Buska is documenting tourist activity, whereas the NF guy was just intimating Buska for his thug group.
I obviously don't know exactly what happened or what was said between that guy and Buska, but it seems to me that Buska was a little too quick with the f word (and I can swear like a navvy if needed).
Wasn’t it Buska who put film footage on utube of a that Soldier getting upset, even though he’d asked him not to. I know what he looks like now & he can’t hide behind his camera in future.
Totally blocked Buska for his inexcusable behaviour toward that lovely Guardswoman. Despicable.
Intimating?
What exactly did Buska do?? Can someone explain that?
Thank you John.
I love the sound of your voice.
It’s a calming down to me❤
It’s weird to watch a video in the middle of a hot July, where everyone in the video is all bundled up in Winter coats! Really curious.
Once the ears go back RUN! 😂
Hello from Québec, Canada. When I watch your videos, I see a microcosm of the whole World. Now, we can hear and see laughters ( from tourists) when people argue, we see more and more aggressive behaviour, etc. Well you all know what I mean. Fortunately, we can hear your soothing voice, admire beautiful horses, witness the magnificent horsemanship of these guards. Merci and … one day … I would be more than happy to help you with your French 😅 Au revoir à bientôt !
I only respect you and Busker because you two will stand up against idiots at the guards.
I bet that will be very moving John Thank you Stay Safe ❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧
I just Googled the current leadership of the NF (I honestly didn't know they were still active) and it looks to my eye as if that is indeed the current chairman of the National Front.
@@John-G So I was just attempting to find out whether the assertion that he was in a leadership position in the National Front was true or not. Nothing more, nothing less.
I love your sense of fair play.
The amount of people in that crowd frightens me.
First time that I have seen the tourists being respectful and not touching the horses very nice
Hello John, I’m enjoying today’s walk, interesting that you were able to put yourself between the two men. Right place right timing, the fact that your knowledge and patience helped to defuse the situation “brilliant”. I also have to say that your experience shows your professional way with people too. Have just found your channel this week and now wanting to watch to see what’s next. I was in London back in the summer of 1977. Unfortunately I didn’t take the time to see these amazing guards men in action. I have to say your play by play commentary is like being there and I can appreciate your 20 years of experience. Cheers mate, Chris watching from Turlock in the Central Valley of California USA.
John, you’re an amazing person. Thank you for intervening in what could have been really bad. 😊😊
Hi John, in one of your recent videos, I had a couple of thoughts 🤔 I was thinking about how you noticed some of the guards returned sporting beards and I was just wondering if may be they grew the beards as a barrier for the strap across their chins. I imagine in warm weather they sweat and it could irritate the skin. I can't wear a watch in the summer because I sweat and breakout on my wrist. So I was just wondering. Either way the guards look good as always 😊
The other thing is have you ever watched the US soldiers who guard the tomb of the unknown soldier? It kind of reminds me of the kings guard. They can get after people as well. I was surprised to see they march in the rain, through snow 😲
What training and discipline the guards and soldiers go through and it is very clear they take great pride in it!
I grieves me to see the disrespect towards the kings guards and even here in the US at the unknown soldiers tomb. But some people are just ridiculous and there's just no getting around it. 🤷🏽♀️
Thanks for sharing your videos I love the horses they are absolutely beautiful!
Michelle New Jersey USA
the beards as protection against the chin straps is such a smart observation! I honestly never thought of it. nonetheless, the guards look dapper sporting their beards
@@loganwhite3904 I absolutely agree! They look very dapper! ☺️
@@John-G I was simply talking about the pride of the guards and soldiers in what they do. And how disrespectful people can be at both places. I appreciate what both do because of their disciplined and dedication nothing more.
We call blinkers, blinders, in the US.
It’s as if they have never seen a horse before
Most of them won't have only on tv or films , so they take the chance to stand next to or touch the horses , even if they are scared , a once in a lifetime opportunity !
John,
Is this a repeat? I remember you speaking about saying "Pierre", "biter" & about the blinkers on the horses. It says this 55mins ago.🤔
Date of filming is always in the video description : ) Horse Guards is closed today due to a parade along Whitehall.

Best thing about your channel is your chuckle.
How do the guards see with those helmets so low over their eyes?
Thats an old video, I remember it.
This is the real London.Folks put your fingers in your ears
John, I think you did well in stepping between Buska and that idiot. It was a risky action. However, as a US citizen and watching this in July, 2024, we are sliding closer to a fascist dictatorship, something I never expected to happen in my, or my children’s, lifetime. We are no longer privileged to step away and allow those threatened by extremists to handle threats by themselves. We must fight, united, against all threats foreign and domestic.
When the guard laughs i laugh. When the guard smile I smile.
The guard on the horse is taking close notice of what is going on with Buska John
I googled "nation front uk leader" and he's definitely who Buska said he was!
The blinkers across the horses eyes is to protect the eyes from flying objects
I don't think so in this case. I think it stops with peripheral vision. Basically a learning device to encourage focus
Why is the filming so blurry. Not crisp as it used to be.

Hi @Londoncitywalks how are you.
NF is a nasty organization.
I think the RHA decided to play it cool but tourists will take advantage of there kinder nature!!!
Great video and you handle the difficult scenes very well.
❤ morning, wonderful day
why so why , put a baby child in your arms to a horse .....omg...
YES , the horse is trained , but .....oh deer...
That was an interesting argument . . . what on earth was that guy hoping to achieve by doing what he did! Some people need to stay at home. I enjoy Buskers videos. So please let him know that and I bet I'm not the only one. Thoroughly enjoyable hour once again John. Thank you: Kiwi
Why are there so many TH-camrs at the horse guards every day? And why are the videos so long?
My videos are long as that is what regular Channel viewers prefer. It's been discussed in previous videos. Moreover, there are plenty of channels posting sensationalist 'tit-bits' with misleading titles for 'views'.
I only watch this channel as I like John's commentary and calm approach to situations around him. He doesn't swear or get irate (unlike certain other streamers)
Those channels that use the sensationalist misleading titles annoy me intensely , and I let them know in no uncertain terms !
my favourite goat police officer r helping out ..../ i start my Security training lvl 2 , very soon ... its all about verbal and touch ...
theres more but you understand , after 9 years getting back into security ...
Are there any pictures of you??
I love your commentary during videos. But most of all I like how you avoid filming drama!
That is the funniest comment I have heard since the '20s began. Sorry to all dog owners 😂😂😂😂😂
John, the horse you mentioned may be going through the mounted police desensitization training program (which all the cavalry mounts go through during their initial training) - Horses have wide peripheral vision because of where their eyes sit in the head and the goal of blinkers is to block the peripheral vision and focus the horse on only looking forward, eliminating any other distractions (Smoke grenades, M-80s, jackhammers, screaming crowds etc) so that when the horse encounters a scary situation, it’ll be less likely to react negatively. "Blinkers" come in many different forms, (Blinkers can be crescent-shaped cups that fit around the eyes of the horse. They are either fitted to the bridle or onto a lycra-style mask that sits under the bridle), including a ear bonnet or fly veil which reduces the sounds when a horse is in a crowded environment which increases concentration of the horse. Loud noisy crowds can distract a horse, make them anxious or even spook them when they need to concentrate the most.
Perhaps you can find out more about their training program thru the Riding Master, who is responsible for overseeing their training. Initial training after purchase lasts for at least six months, during which the horses remain at Imber Court. The horses are then allocated to a specially trained police officer. They will be sent out to one of the Met’s stables where they will continue their training. The majority of horses are made operational within 18 months.
Historical Note: It is believed that horse blinders were used all the way back in ancient Greece for chariot racing. Just like they're used today, they were used to keep the horses from being distracted.
Just watching The King's Guard on Channel 5. It's all about the preparations for the King's coronation. Very interesting.
It's on again in an hour on Channel 5+1
Will watch your video afterwards, John. x
Because the horse with blinkers is more easily distracted than the other, I should think!
Narrator - " She has a reputation "
Ormond - " Hold my oats !! "
I love Tipper, totally chilled.
I love your comments. Common sense and respect.
To be fair John the weather is not much better now in July 16 degrees and breezy here in Yorkshire

John could we view the statues/monuments that we see from afar?
❤mare attitude. TY for her name.
Any time a horse 🐎 has its ears back you have to know you have a horse 🐎 that is not happy 😃
Strange question but are there maintenance people to come out and pick up the horse droppings during the day? I noticed in the last video that the droppings were just inside the front gate where people walk. Not very sanitary. And if so in my opinion (which means nothing) they should be out there after every changing of the guard.
I would think it good if a Trooper saw a crowd and spoke loudly before he got there to alert the crowd he was coming, cuz I think lots of time people are obsessed with their phones and know not what is coming which is still wrong in several ways. Too much phone obsession. I am an elder lady and I would much rather watch the Troopers and the horses, and all that, than staring at a phone screen. I have noticed these young people have their perfect smiles down perfect. I always have a goofy smile when I am staring at a camera. I am so old. Wish I was younger. I definitely would visit Horse Guards. Too late for me now though. But am enjoying the Yountube, ESPECIALLY London City Walks.
'The Kings Guard: Serving The Crown' new series on Channel 5 this evening.
Stay safe take it easy xoxooxoxoxoxo
6min's in you can hear these two chaps, kicking off,, i didn't see the phone in the nasty dudes face. The guy obviously felt entitled to call him the leader of the National front?. If he is or if he isn't the eader, Doesn't mean the dude can take his property.
I didn't know that it was cold in July in London. It's crazy hot in America 🇺🇸
It's called microwave Jetstream manipulation.
They keep merging the northern hemisphere Jetstream with the arctic Jetstream over the North Atlantic and then aiming it abnormally into central Europe.
It's footage from earlier in the year not now.
Yep, I've had the heating on, in July! I'm just hoping it improves for August (not too hot though)
It's not usually so cold in July here but the past couple of years we had warmer weather in October. On the other hand in winter it rarely drops much below freezing. We can get snow overnight by lunchtime it's all gone.
This was filmed in Feb.
Blinkers are used when a horse is easily distracted by its surroundings. Blinkers keep the horse looking ahead and more inclined to listen to its rider or driver.
I don't think Buska is in a position to criticise anybody. Spends his day pushing a camera in people's faces but doesn't like it when someone does it to him. Unbelievable!
I've often wondered how I will respond when someone turns up to film me so I do 'get it'. I've decided that my response will be nothing as anything other than a non-response would make me a hypocrite.
@@LondonCityWalks sometimes the most annoying thing you can do is ignore them. Easier said than done though.
