I love watching these videos! Makes my day watching these wonderful guards & thier troopers. The horses are brilliant! They are so patient with the rude public. Not all are rude but my goodness the amount of parents allowing thier children to just paw at the horses and the adults grabbing at the reins when it clearly states not to do so. So few ask permission to touch. Thats alright the ever watchful Ormond will punish the rude!!

There will be police and armed officers in sight at all times the cowards just managed to escape and they can still get caught if they put what they filmed online I hope.
The MOD police officers were over by the stables observing the whole area , but they don't have x ray vision to see that far there is cctv covering the yard . Their role is security and antiterrorism not a pair of silly little boys acting the fool !

There are many clips of three officers in the exact same spot all chatting. Now why cant one be at the front between the boxes, two in the yard and one walking in the tunnel. I know there are maybe more than three there but if they just spread out so they are closer to different areas instead of over policing one little spot at a time.

As American I’m not certain what a ‘yob’ is….to me they look like thugs and definite troublemakers. Wonder if they’ve ever had jobs and responsibilities? Both of them might benefit greatly with the organization of entering a military service where they might learn respect. I’ve just recently started following you John, and love what you show. What I don’t care for is the disrespect given to these officers, and the positions of responsibility. These men should be given their space to do their jobs, this is not an amusement park. I’ve seen some tour (?) groups that obviously don’t understand what personal space is, or respect for armed services.

Also American. I use Google to find out things I don't know. It's good for quickly letting me know that "yob" is a British slang term for a young man who behaves in a rude, offensive, and sometimes violent way in public. It can also be used to describe someone who is loutish or uncultured.
John I have just been to the home of rest for horses at Soeen and seen many of the retired H Cav horses. The highlight for me was seeing Hydtobad one if my favourite retired horses. It was so cute as it says on his information board that his favourite thing is his toy unicorn and they have that hanging on his stable window. It was a lovely place to visit all the retired H Cav horses and police horses all enjoying their well deserved retirement.
I go my daughter a sponsorship for her birthday. I must go to visit them thank you for sharing this

@lynnclark893 The Horse Trust is somewhere I'd love to visit , I'm at the other end of the country though 😑. Next time I visit my daughter in London I'll be twisting her arm to take me .😁. For those interested look up The Horse Trust they have some great videos of the horses in their care including Hyderabad with his unicorn 😍

A bit late for commenting but just want to add my voice to everyone else who has commented about Nimbus playing with the chain. It is not uncommon for horses to amuse themselves out of boredom, curiosity or downright mischievousness :o)

I, too, couldn't believe it about those 2 idiots. The gall & stupidity it took to do that. He even squared up like he was actually going to punch him. I'm from the forgotten era where we wouldn't even begin to have that much disrespect. If there were any, we would be punished immediately. Over the many decades, it has absolutely gone downhill to the point of what we have & saw today.

It was her turn to watch the kids during recess. She told me that a KINDERGARTEN boy started cussing at her, calling her EVERY derogatory cuss word invented. And when I say every cuss word, I mean EVERY cuss words. That's our future. I don't have much confidence.

The horse is playing, amusing himself with playing with the chain. The chain moves up on his neck, so he gets tactile input there as well as getting to play with the chain in his mouth. Soon he'll be teaching the other horses to play with their chains!! Horses do like to play with objects, like stuffed toys, balls, tubes...anything they can get in their mouths and pick up.

The chain Nimbus was playing with isn't attached to the bit , it clips to the back of the headcollar then lies loose around the neck . It's a tether chain from campaign days used to attach the horses to a line for safety feeding and watering while the Troopers rested . Nimbus was playing with it , he'd found a new way to amuse himself and pass the time , clever boy 😁😁😁.
Lovely Orion with his Roman nose , doesn't suffer intrusion into his space !
What a pity the gatesmans sword didn't " cough " slip forward into the carry position , the boys nose would have been in just the right place 😁.

The one on the left looks like Royal Army Medical Corps, going by the TRF . The one on the right, can't identify the TRF and although wearing a maroon beret is not Parachute Regiment as the cap badge he is wearing is not that of The Parachute Regiment (Parachute with wings) He has got his parachute wings though, and there are other support units who also wear maroon berets.

Wouldn't want eejits like those little boys in the Army.. Its about the camaraderie and helping your fellow soldiers. They don't seem capable of any deeper thought but themselves.
There's got to be some kind of breeding farm for these particular horses. If allowed it would make a wonderful video about them. I saw a TH-cam video on how the Royal's have retirement stables for the horses. It's wonderful how these horses are taken care of. Even the horses in the police department are retired there too. Beautiful pastures where they can run free.
The horses are from several Irish farmers and breeders contracted to supply so many horses a year to the Army. They are thoroughbred x Irish draft crosses.
The Royals don’t own The Horse Trust at Speen; it’s a registered charity and relays on donations from the public and endowments from the cavalry. Horses from the Royal Mews are also retired there if suitable .
I sponsor a retired charger from the King’s Troop there on memory of my husband.

Hi John, you are correct maroon beret is Para Regiment and British Airborne Forces. Chris, from Sydney, Australia 🇦🇺
Your permitted to wear parachute wings on your uniform plus wear a maroon beret on your head but you have to show your ability every year by jumping from so many feet in altitude to keep wearing such honourable items. Rounded para wings stitched on to the right side of the dress uniform arm also on the camouflaged smock.
So if you see a hard edged eagle on the BLUES AND ROYALS they wear the napolionic eagle for capturing the FRENCH EIGHTEENTH CENTURY EAGLE IN 1815. Honourable for the whole regiment then and now during a charge during battle a rider took the flag which wouldn't be easy while killing with a sword as thd cavalrys duo pistols only had one shot each . It Was a FRENCH REGIMENTAL FLAG POLE MARKED WITH FRENCH BATTLE HONOUR which the NAPOLIONIC REGIMENT AT WATERLOO WHICH HAD a EAGLE FIXED ON TO THE TOP of the FLAG POLE FIRST DRAGOON'S now the BLUES AND ROYALS WEAR ON THE LEFT ARM A HARD EDGED REGIMENTAL EAGLE IN A ANTIQUE GOLD then on the opposite arm if completed by personal they wear the para airborne wings. Only if the tough physical and mental course of parachute regiment but remember it's not the course a course P that parachute regiment members takes because the individual is already a soldier who wants to be on a list in case the country needs a large parachute drop also they may get a increase in pay. Theres many courses soldiers can do to improve themselves as individuals. Ie crossed Sabres show excellence with sword fighting within the regiment. A person might become skilled in looking after looking after the horses care another may receive a horse shoe on a Riders arm for being a skilled keeper of horses hooves and horseshoes. Theres many awards as well as the ranks available within an armys program of improving each soldiers education plus the Military knowledge course even basic education of writing reading are available also languages would be useful in posting and guard duties a kings guard !.

If it would be up to me, anyone dares to insult the Gurds, and specially if they are tourist, than stamp their passport, as no visa granted!
I remember in early 70's I stayed in London, and one day I went to see the changing of guards,
I never forget, it was a wonderful day. British People from cities outside London, and thousands of tourist too, and we all just admired the Gurds, and the most important and responsible duty the have.
