We install an AMS 3 inch down pipe to help increase flow and sound. During the sound test we see how loud it gets, if you want to hear more of it sounds like under load and what kind of gains we were able to make check out our next video to find out.

I'd say the Q60 is the better looking of the two but if you need a four door that can make some real performance the Q50 is something you should seriously look into

Y’all should do some 3” downpipes for the 3.7 we need the the 3” love as well and there seems to be nobody who does it (as far as my digging is concern)

The downpipes by themselves will only yield about 4 hp. Getting a cat back exhaust that gets rid of 2 more cats and a tune will yield about ~36 whp & ~46 wtq. If you do the z1 racing pipes, cbe and tune it would be 60+ whp & ~149 wtq.

Not many people are going full 3 inch downpipes I wonder why. Seems lower downpipes is the trend. How hard is it to install full 3 inch downpipes on these cars? If in the future you guys do a full downpipe install a video would be greatly appreciated from you guys.
most full down pipes made are 3 inch for most flow we will most likely install one on our Q60 so we will try to get a video going on that

we would have as we want to see how a completely open system performs but our customer wasn't interested in going that loud. next time we get the opportunity we will post it

Quick question, what size O2 socket needed to remove O2 sensor? 7/8 "(22mm)? Great detail video. 👍🏼
This is a good question! There is a special socket intended for use with O2 sensors also. Can a plain open ended wrench handle it instead?
What Y Pipe should we run with these test pipes. I installed these last week and the diameter difference in the pipes and the OEM Y Pipe is disgusting. Y Pipe needs to go!, Just worried about having to keep the BS 3" to 2.5" gasket in there as I can't find any Y pipes that come fully 3". Most are 2.5 some 2.75 from the cats to 3" at the mid pipe. Could use some help here finding a completely 3" y pipe
Why would you do 3 inch LDP on 2.5 Inch Stillen cbe… I just dont get it. Air flow would be ruined essentially and would bounce off gaskets where they connect causing pressure on turbos no?
Do you “have to” tune the car after you install these ? Could it do damage if you don’t ?

Next time you do down pipe remove the 3 bolts on top first and then work on the bottom
Hey do you guys know if these downpipes give you a check engine light? If so, do you need a tune to get rid of it?
My understanding is that you shouldn't get a check engine light if you install the O2 sensor properly without a tune and you have no exhaust leaks. The primary cats perform well enough to avoid a CEL.
Can you install these on a stock exhaust?
Yeah but it won’t sound different unless you get an aftermarket exhaust and if you do get an AM exhaust get an ARK performance full catback it’s what I got and it’s 🔥🔥
At 3:23 was by far the most grueling and frustrating part of this install. Took my buddies and I two days to get these damn things loose once we were finally there. Nissan/Infiniti definitely builds their engines to not be user friendly.
It is definitely a 2 person job at minimum. With the proper tools it took us about an hour to break all of them loose. We're glad this video was able to help somewhat
@@Conceptzperformanceczp ya'll made me feel really happy/lucky with this... this was easiest part for me and took me no more than 15 minutes to crack them all lose, used extensions with wobble tips and was also by myself.... I assumed this would be the hardest part so once i cracked them i committed to moving forward with everything else.
My biggest issue was passenger side o2 sensor as there was NO way i could reach my hand in there... after 30-45+ mins of thinking/testing some strategies i ended up using a pry bar to pry the plug out of its mount to give me the slack i needed to pull the pipe down and out of the way enough to reach up and unplug it
Ams provides 5 bronze colored nuts it that only for the top part of the flange for the downpipe?
I was wondering how much time that the installation took? I would probably get this done by a mechanic since im pretty new to car modding

when removing the original pipes doesn't the cat have a heat shield, do you recommend adding heat exhaust wrap on the new pipes?
no, not really. it is a great idea to wrap it to help keep temps down in general but not needed if you wanted to grab some wrap heres a link

I have a 2015 q50 3.7 with an ark grip exhaust if I install test pipes would it trigger the check engine light?
The 3” to 2.5” step probably costs a good amount of power. Should pick up some 3” to 2.5” cones from Vibrant and weld them in to smooth out the transition.
we would have preferred to just go with a full 2.5" but that's what the customer wanted so we wanted to know what kind of power it could make
I would be curious about knocking all the stuff out of the cats and putting the factory pipe back on. I wonder what the power gain or loss would be?
If you don't care about the cats sell them at a junkyard and they'll pay for the downpipes

Technically illegal for road use, this is technically for "off road use only" but will pass emissions with these installed as they are intended to not throw any check engine codes

they're not related to one another, but if it were my car I'd do a heat exchanger before anything else since these engines heat soak like crazy

I don't see why you wouldn't do that in the first place. Just saves time doing two things at the same time. 2 birds 1 stone.

Should pass sniffer. Possibly fail visual if the inspector even knows what he's looking for. No offense but the guys I take mine to would have little clue.

no dude because it keeps the factory o2 sensors... they also exist up stream from these secondary cats
You forget the o2 sensor on the passenger side?
We figured if we showed putting in one our viewers would be able to notice the hole in the other down pipe, sorry if it wasn't clear enough

I want to do a similar install to my 2018 Q50 3.0t with the catback and down pipes. Question does a install like this void the warranty, throw any Check engine light or fail the the yearly state inspection. Great video.

Most likely no because of extra flow being read by the 02 sensor causing a check engine light

As far as i could see AMS doesn't make any for the G37/370Z. I would recommend this which has a small resonator to help with some of the rasp but still has great flow tinyurl.com/ycvceyg5 if you have a bit more cash to spend and want a better sounding test pipe I'd go with this one here tinyurl.com/y6v4lmkj best sound from any test pipe in my opinion.

Just lowers won't, because the ECU only monitors the upper cats

no, unfortunately not. As it is not a turbo model but similar to the newer VR30 powered Q50 the exhaust system layout will be fairly the same
For the extensions are you using a 3/8 drive or 1/2 drive to loosen the bolts ?
i just did this myself and 3/8 was fine.

Wrapping isn’t going to do anything for that. Wrapping is for heat. Get a resonated downpipe if you want less drone

I live in Ann Arbor, Michigan. My car didn't come with traditional cis-parts that are simple to connect/remove from one another. My parts are transgender, so unfortunately my tools don't work. I'm stuck with OEM pipes until Home Depot or whatever develops some tools that work for my vehicle's parts.
