Hey after having a chemical treatment from a salon. I'm facing obsene amount of hairloss. My hair were severly damaged. I have seen dermatologists. They are prescribing minoxidil. However, I'm looking for natural remedy. I can see hair growth after 4 months. But continues shedding is also there. It has triggered chronic talogen effluvium. Have you come accross anyone who faced this. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks
Not all dermatologists are created equal when it comes to hair loss. I saw one who basically said you're on your own and not much he could do. But then I found a trichologist, a scalp expert, who has been working with me and I'm having great results. My bald spots are growing back and my hair in general is growing.

After cleansing your hair, gently pat it dry with a soft towel.

I experienced extreme hair fall around 6 months ago. For the past 6 months, I have been using reactivaate hair growth serum, and I have noticed a good reduction in hair fall. Moreover, the hair thinning issue is also managed well.
Here’s what I do for mine hair growth: I begin my day with yoga. For breakfast, I eat eggs, almonds, and idli. When I return back from work, I gently massage my scalp. At night, I put on a few drops of liitllexttra reactivate serum to my hair. Just doing these things has given me good hair growth.

I wish I had this info years ago. Where I live there is ONE dermatologist that works with black women's hair. The appointment was 10 months out, but I was blessed to get in on a cancellation. A scalp biopsy was taken and I am waiting for the results and treatment plan. I lost hand fulls of hair post covid 2020, and menopause is another factor. Thank you for the video.
TH-cam must have mics in my house because I just caved and booked a derm appointment nearly a decade of trying to handle hair and scalp issues on ym own. Its hard to admit something's going on with my body thats outside of my knowledge and control to fix. I kept thinking for years no one will know my hair like me. But as I get older I'm learning that the best way to solve some problems is to get professional help. I think had I gone to a derm years ago when I first noticed something was off I would have been able to stop whats now very likely permanent. Better late than never though.
Tfs this info. I have been really sad since I had Covid in January, my hair had gotten very thin & the nape of my neck is thinning as well. I guess I need to see a Dermatologist. I have purchased alot of healing oils and praying they work!
The good news is that bc it was caused by COVID, it will likely grow back vs female or male pattern baldness. But seeing a derm certainly will not hurt! I wish you the best!
I tried using black derm directory when I was battling hair loss and some skin issues. There is only 1 in my state and it was such a disappointing experience. My hair at the time was coming out in clumps and all over the bathtub when I would wash it. I brought pictures, had my regimen in detail and she didnt even look at it or help me identify what could be the issue with my scalp. Also came in for skin issues which were equally dismissed and which later developed into a bad case of folliculitis. I'll try going to a different one in a neighboring state.
Something to consider is a virtual consult with a black derm who offers them. From there, you can get a treatment plan and bring it to someone in your area. I had a hard time finding a doctor who didn’t dismiss me or make me think I was crazy. I finally found one who IMMEDIATELY diagnosed me and shared that she treats this all the time. So comforting. There is hope!

I can’t tell you just how much I have been looking forward to a video like this. My hair loss is related to lack of iron. I am currently on iron tablets which I take with vitamin c to aid absorption but because I am loosing so much blood every month because of fibroids, my hair loss persists especially in my edges. I recently had fibroid surgery so hoping the situation improves. Do you have any tips on iron related hair loss? Kindly advice. Thank you.
Congratulations on your successful removal of the fibroids 💪. Get your thyroid checked at you local MD by doing a blood test. If there is an issue, it can be rather easily solved with medicine. Your Hair loss could also be related to thyroid issues. Get that checked, it's rather easily solvable once it's identified. 💪

I'm 30 and have been losing hair since I was about 22. My scalp is now visible. I went to a dermatologist and he said its genetic nothing I can do. He asked me no questions. He just looked for about 30 seconds. I have not gone back. My hairloss has been detrimental to my mental health. Doctors do not care. Ive been so discouraged.
Have you went to another doctor? Are you stressed? How did the doctor know it was genetic? I think you need a second opinion
I'm sad for you but don't give up hope. I pray that you should not loose anymore hair and not loose one more.thank God
Try rosemary oil (if not pregnant) diluted with olive oil twice a week .. leave in for two hours and then wash .
Same thing happened to me. Now, 30 years later, I started using minoxidil 5% plus finasteride topically, and I'm seeing hair growth. I can only imagine how much better my hair would be if I had started back then. Do your research, then go see the derm armed with the information. You need to be an aggressive advocate for yourself. It's not easy, but you're worth it.
My brother and I had hair problems since out teen’s. He got a hair transplant and his hair after just two years fell off. We taught there is no chance to have our hair . Then he got the renewahair oil as a gift from a friend grew his hair back in just two weeks. I started using now me and my brother have our hair back. It works like magic.
My husband has suffered hair loss in his beard post covid vaccine. Thanks for this video!
your voice and oration is so soothing!
How was the biopsy? What did they say?
TH-cam must have mics in my house because I just caved and booked a derm appointment nearly a decade of trying to handle hair and scalp issues on ym own.
Its hard to admit something's going on with my body thats outside of my knowledge and control to fix. I kept thinking for years no one will know my hair like me. But as I get older I'm learning that the best way to solve some problems is to get professional help. I think had I gone to a derm years ago when I first noticed something was off I would have been able to stop whats now very likely permanent.
Better late than never though.
you are so gorgeous. and your voice is so calming. wow. you just radiate such a light ☺️🥰✨
You sound so soothing, it’s so lovely!
Thank you!
Very thorough review of hair loss and Dr. Alexis seems quite knowledgeable. Thanks for giving us all the facts.
@@Future-zx9ts thank you
I tried using black derm directory when I was battling hair loss and some skin issues.
@@CaseySharperson Who was she?
@@dionneshaw9127 Dr. Liza Moore in Tyson’s Corner (McLean) Virginia. There are also a few doctors that create plans to share with any derm. Dr. Yolanda Lenzy does them I think. I haven’t personally gone to her, but she’s respected in the space. Good luck! 💕
I've seen two dermatologist and none spent as much time to explain hairloss as much and as well as you did. Many are quick to just bill and charge an arm and a leg and don't bother spending time with the patient. I've seen one for the past 2yrs and I'm worse than before. I caught it ahead time b4 it got this bad and no one listened :( I'm frustrated to know many of us are just a number with a $ sign.
Very informative. I have never had a dematologist look at my entire scalp or take blood test. But, they did look at it with some type of special light.
She’s sooo pretty. Wow, doc!
Thanks for discussing different forms of hair loss and what to do to get ready for an appointment with a dermatologist.

Best Advice thus far!! Thank you for providing sound advice and professional guidance for people of color. Thank you!!
Dr. Alexis is the best, such smoothing video. My hair lining is thinning I will try the products she recommends.
Thanks Dr.Stephens my hair is thick but without conditions or deep protein conditions shedding of hair remains a problem next follow up in July I will consult my dermatologists.
Thank you.
Same here, I’m going to start on these tablets recommended in this video insha Allah m.th-cam.com/video/xUmdquPuOGg/w-d-xo.html
This is a great question! I hope she makes a video on it! 🤞🏾
Oh my goodness. This comment made me realize why my edges are thinning. I found out I have a small fibroid almost a year ago and since then I've noticed my hair has been thinning and breaking off.
@@nahany7105 -The link between fibroids and hair thinning which eventually causes one’s edges to recede is real but unfortunately I haven’t found much help with this from dermatologists except being asked to take iron tablets which does not stop the hair thinning or the edges receding.
Excellent video, thank you so much! This problem is making me anxious but your soft voice is so reassuring! 💖
Thank you Dr. Alexis it is always helpful to come to your channel for information. I appreciate you 😊🙏🏾

Your voice is so calming.
My doctor told me that there is nothing he can do I wore my braided for years while working doubles and going to nursing home, but to make a long story short so after I had a brain aneurysm in 2013 I was already bald, but I still till this day have to wear wigs because of traction alopecia no hair for years all the way around because the follicles are dead I have wasted so much money on hair products that Doctor said that I will have to get a hair transplant I've wearing wigs for that matter can't afford no transplant, can't wear my own hair it's really embarrassing I cry so much because of this and the brain aneurysm force me to retire as a nurse it sucks, I hope you ladies learn from this.
Alexis, thanks for breaking down alopecia so clearly! Your insights on different types and the importance of early diagnosis are invaluable. I appreciate the actionable tips.

Eczema in my scalp causes my hair loss. I treat it and then the weather change and I go thru it all over again. I miss having a healthy scalp
I'm just proud to see you .
Thank you!! I love your videos and they’re also so helpful! I just wanna ask if you know any tips or have information for hair loss caused by PCOS
This was very informative. Thank you, Dr. Stephens!
I am diagnosed with LPP at 38. and i just did my big chop. I had been doing braids for the longest. Because i too felt that made me beautiful. Then i stopped about a year ago with braids and just focused on my natural hair. but i still was having hair issues and inflammation like crazy on my scalp. I too had bald spots and patchyness. This had been going on for about 5 years. So i went to a dermatologist and that is when i was diagnosed with LPP. I was numb to what he said for 2 days and i said im okay its just hair. But then the weekend came and i had and emotional break down i knew then i was not okay. I just cut my hair down this past saturday.
I’m going to save this video. Thorough but not overwhelming. And the way you rattled off those words was amazing. Excellent job!🤩🤩🤩
Glad it was helpful!
I’m so happy I found this video. My long time thick hair is thinning. I’m very concerned. Lots of stress for last few years, aging and poor nutrition are some causes. I will definitely try some of your recommendations. God bless and thanks 🙏🏾🤗
I will watch to see if they recommend those " protective styles" for hair growth.
New Sub. I love how you get straight to the point and calming. Very calming!!

that scalp biopsy is the deal breaker for me....that screwing thing on my head ? no thank you LOL...thanks for the info
Thank you. Very informative. Much needed.
I started with centrifugal alopecia over 11 years ago. NO dermatologist helped me ! I found a TH-cam video and visited a dermatologist ( who actually mentioned this condition) to no avail! There aren’t many willing to help 😩
So helpful! Thank you very much. I’m seeing my doctor in March. Fingers crossed 🤞🏽
Hi Dr Alexis, Please do a video for burning scalp?? Causes & Treatments.
I have this for a few years with no answer. Thank you.
Tis has been extremely helpful. Thank you
Great information with hair loss!!!!!!!
Where is your practice.
Thank You for the education Dr. Alexis...
Thank you for much for the thorough information!
Thank you for this Dr, I really appreciate you 👏🏽
Thanks so much for this video Queen. This was super helpful☺️. I’m so happy I came across your video. I am about to be hooked.
I recommended nutroful! I used for just one month when I shaved the back of my head, and it helped it grow quickly even though my hair already grows fast you can really see a difference.
Are you still taking it and if not have u seen any hair loss. I hear great things about it, but also once u stop using it u loss all ur hair again.
Which one did you try?
How do you use minoxidil and also dandruff and condition your hair/scalp simultaneously?
I waited to long all my edges are gone. My hair is bald real far back I mean all my edges is gone to my ear on both sides. Start in my 30’s. Went to a dermatologist. She was no help was diagnosed with thyroid Condition. Lost my eyebrows too. It’s been years now so don’t wait to long.
Yes this was indeed very helpful. Thank you so much.
Since covid I’ve last 50% of my hair density. I’ve finally found a routine with $50 vitamins and plant based oil and “giving my hair a break”. I am finally seeing new growth that’s repaired thank the lord. Don’t give up if you’re suffering from hair loss, my advice is don’t wait too long to start rectifying your hair loss as SOON as you notice it’s a problem. That’s my only regret
What are the vitamins and oils you are using please!
@@valvalll2.0 yes, biotin vitamins by Spoiled Child and vegan oils by Plantmade. I pray that you have the same result as me 🙏🏽
@@classicredwine thank you so much!
Great information, thank you.
Thank you, this video has been helpful to me. I had hair loss when I was given medication for controlling my high blood pressure. I started to lose my hair in the front and the crown. When I stop the medication, my hair stop falling out. That happened four or five years ago. I started to use product to help grow my hair back, but my hair is very thin in the front and my hair is growing back. I don't use any hair protection plats or relaxers.. I just have natural hair and I am taking good care of my hair. Thank you for showing this video.
I'm also currently experiencing hair loss in the front of my hair and the crown. I believe it's due to my high blood pressure medication. By chance, were you on Lisinopril? If so did they replace it with a different medicine? Thanks
Thank you for what you do. I am going to try your suggestions.
Thanks for the info Dr. Stephens❤
Brilliant tutorial, it really helps to get that perfection you're aiming for. Thank you so much!!
I have an appointment next month. It's not hair loss other scalp issues. I'll make sure to take notes and pictures of my products. Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it.
