      Yeah and seems like abusive dads/husbands/boyfriends after drinking or is an alcoholic is shown a lot too in kdramas so I'm thinking it must be somewhat accurate in the population that they show it so much. Also from kdramas, it's shown like in a cute/endearing/funny light sometimes several times a series, a character super drunk/wasted on the verge of passing out and its no big deal, passing out at the table, stumbling out of the bar, falling on the sidewalk. And the characters are drinking when posed with anything, whether happy, sad, etc.

      While it is a big part of our culture, it does often become a big problem too. Nowadays I think people try to drink more responsibly.

    As one of my korean friends said "alcoholism doesnt exist in Korea. We are happy, we drink, we are sad, we drink. We are tired, we drink. We are angry, we drink. Drinking here is life ".
    He told me that the first time he heard about people having alcohol problems was when he came to US to study 🤣😢
    Yall alcoholism is real and drinking shouldnt be use for escapism or to cope with life.

    I’d definitely like to experience South Korean nightlife and the drinking culture, but I don’t want to overdo it and develop bad habits or get into old habits. So it would definitely take a lot of self-discipline. This episode is great. It’s nice to see new faces and hear about their experiences.

    I Am watching the video all the way from Uganda in Africa. So happy to hear you guys unleash the drinking culture in Korea. It would be better if the regulars of this podcast explained it in detail. Anyway, will be coming to Seoul in the future and thanks for the podcast. Next time please explain why Koreans mix soju together with other drinks like rice wine. David and Anna correct me if I am wrong.🤣🤣🤣🤣

    I usually drink two Shiner Bochs, because I sing karaoke, but I’ve drank as much as 5 and a couple of shots. My favorite shot is Alien Secretions, and I love Irish Carbombs! Our hangover food is Menudo, it’s a Latino thing.

    I wonder what happens if someone cannot drink due to a medical reason or if they want to abstain from alcohol for health reasons, like how would a Korean boss react?

    • @tenywajimowen1002

    • @alaregret1270
      @alaregret1270 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure about Koreans, but in Taiwanese/Chinese, medical based reasons are naturally accepted assuming they are legit. Lifestyle based reason is more situational.

    • @kebbiew.8359
      @kebbiew.8359 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      i'm curious about this too. I wouldn't want to disclose my medical reasons for not drinking. I want colleagues and friends to accept 'no' means no as the risk can be lethal.
