David you gotta put them on the regular team your guys energy match so well I could have watch another 1+ hours episode
This might have been one of the more entertaining episodes you all have had in a while!
We had so much fun coming on the podcast, thanks for inviting us! Hope we can have David and Anna on our show soon
Thanks for coming! It took a while to get this uploaded haha
(And i think you meant David🤔🤭)
I enjoyed this so much! Those guys are great. Energetic and engaging from beginning to end. Love Brandon’s accent! Great show, David.
Hi... is alcoholism a big problem in korea? I watch alot of kdramas and see so much drinking. Love your show btw.
Drinking is a massive problem in Korea lol
korea japan both
Yeah and seems like abusive dads/husbands/boyfriends after drinking or is an alcoholic is shown a lot too in kdramas so I'm thinking it must be somewhat accurate in the population that they show it so much. Also from kdramas, it's shown like in a cute/endearing/funny light sometimes several times a series, a character super drunk/wasted on the verge of passing out and its no big deal, passing out at the table, stumbling out of the bar, falling on the sidewalk. And the characters are drinking when posed with anything, whether happy, sad, etc.
While it is a big part of our culture, it does often become a big problem too. Nowadays I think people try to drink more responsibly.
As one of my korean friends said "alcoholism doesnt exist in Korea. We are happy, we drink, we are sad, we drink. We are tired, we drink. We are angry, we drink. Drinking here is life ".
He told me that the first time he heard about people having alcohol problems was when he came to US to study 🤣😢
Yall alcoholism is real and drinking shouldnt be use for escapism or to cope with life.
Everything you said is pretty much true
I’m glad my family isn’t into alcohol much
I’d never work for a Korean company because I’m not going out with colleagues after work… and I can’t fake being friendly. Sorry that’s all ridiculous
Yeah it used to be a big part of the culture and probably exists in maybe small companies, but no worries, the new MZ generation isn't taking it either!
This episode was actually quite fun😅. South africa 🇿🇦 represent
This was such a fun podcast! Loved how entertaining it was 🍻 And informative, after watching so many kdramas 😂
Those are my two goals! Entertaining and Informative! The best compliment. Thank you :)
Love this podcast so much !!!
I love the podcast ! Happy to see a new episode
Thanks for enjoying!
"Gan bei" actually also means "cheers/bottoms up" in Mandarin.
Yup probs the chinese characters! That's why in Korea we should use Jjan!
I’d definitely like to experience South Korean nightlife and the drinking culture, but I don’t want to overdo it and develop bad habits or get into old habits. So it would definitely take a lot of self-discipline. This episode is great. It’s nice to see new faces and hear about their experiences.
Yes it can get crazy real quick haha. But it might be a one-off fun experience XD
Thanks for enjoying the episode!
I Am watching the video all the way from Uganda in Africa. So happy to hear you guys unleash the drinking culture in Korea. It would be better if the regulars of this podcast explained it in detail. Anyway, will be coming to Seoul in the future and thanks for the podcast. Next time please explain why Koreans mix soju together with other drinks like rice wine. David and Anna correct me if I am wrong.🤣🤣🤣🤣
Pro tip from a Korean friend: Pepto Bismol before you drink 😂 I never got that desperate though.
All this conversation topics about drinks, office dinner outing, hangover etc... all this is what i use to see in Kdramas. Now i came to know that the culture is real. Hehe.
I usually drink two Shiner Bochs, because I sing karaoke, but I’ve drank as much as 5 and a couple of shots. My favorite shot is Alien Secretions, and I love Irish Carbombs! Our hangover food is Menudo, it’s a Latino thing.
Keep it up guys the pod is cool
TYSM!
In Houston (TX) we usually have pho the day after. At least thats what the people i know do, to cure the hangover lol
That’s a good choice. Spicy, greasy food usually works for me.
Wow Pho sounds so good (right now too lol)
good podcast!
YAY!
In germany we have to look at each others too when we cheers, otherwise we have that so called superstition of '7 years of being unlucky or bad sex' xDDD
I wonder what happens if someone cannot drink due to a medical reason or if they want to abstain from alcohol for health reasons, like how would a Korean boss react?
I also wonder. That's my question as well
Not sure about Koreans, but in Taiwanese/Chinese, medical based reasons are naturally accepted assuming they are legit. Lifestyle based reason is more situational.
i'm curious about this too. I wouldn't want to disclose my medical reasons for not drinking. I want colleagues and friends to accept 'no' means no as the risk can be lethal.
anna should always introduce herself never know when someone stumbles across a video
hi sis and oppa, very interesting topic
I'm a 60 yr old female and the old dude who sat down with the fellows and offered up female employees is GROSS and inappropriate 😐
Yeah its gross and disrespectful
Wallah you’s a kelbot
To eliminate alcohol just drink a lot of water and you will be better, since it's the best way.
Water is indeed the best!
Best for a hangover is a big sandwich with lots of bread and meat, like a sub sandwich. A big bowl of soup sounds like the last thing my stomach would want haha😅
Bacon, eggs and potatoes (the greasy stuff) always worked for me back in the day!
South Africa!!!! 🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉
🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Kdrama portraits a lot of 🍸drinking. 😮
Yup definitely deeply tied to Korean culture
❤
Hi David can we have this possible in Spotify
Yes today! Normally i upload slightly later on the audio platforms (because of youtube views haha)
@@koreanpizzaclub aaaah okay please if you do upload please do tag me here. I may not be able to watch these episodes on this side for a while
Introduce everyone INCLUDING your co host BRO
Пора открывать платные вытрезвители в Корее
Yeah if imagine there has to be an issue with all the alcohol drinking. A man who doesn’t drink 🫶🫶👌
Is underage drinking encouraged/acceptable in Korea?
I've been learning about the culture since accidentally falling into kdramas in 2017. I've been going down the rabbit hole of k entertainment since.
I am 55 years old and shows like this is great research materials.
That 50 year old man is simply disturbing.
@David, Did I dream it, or are you Canadian?
I lived in Canada for 3 years when I was a kid!
Thank you for responding. I live in Canada. Your English is impeccable, BTW. It's great to find content like this. Thank you again.
Grow tf up
I think if I remember correctly Thursday Party was one of the clubs some Korean Friénd took me to. But we later went to more Korean places.
Sorry...this US grandmother does not find the drinking culture funny. What is fun about getting drunk and falling out in the street? What's safe about falling down in the street drunk? Is it even healthy, short term or in the long run? 😭😞😓😢
Yes, I agree! Everybody should drink responsibly and not be reckless!
Ya dog
That's a lot of SOJU. Six bottles is black out material. Not quite a novice; more of a professional.
True it’s an east Asian thing to get food same with KTV culture in China there is a lot of food you can choose to order with drinks
Nah that’s fun to be around older men, a lot of them are excited and bold and funny
This is a difficult episode to watch! Is drinking that important in Korea?
