I found Anna's personality quiet unlikable..........please review your videos. I took time before I wrote this comment, she is a woman close to her 30's but she does act and sounds like those annoying teenagers her comments are without substance and quiet b....y and the look she gives to your other guest is not a good look for someone who consider herself "TH-camr". A conversation about this issue will help you to gain more subscribers.

I wish Anna was more of a permanent host. I think she gives a more international thought/flavor to others.
I agree!
I agree as well! She's very upfront about her opinions and not only, but general facts too. Even if some people don't want to hear it, she still says what it needs to be said and I respect that. It's like a fresh breath of air.
I love Anna on the show

i always thought korean beauty standards can be oddly specific at times LOL like being as tall as 10 of your heads or having a straight leg shape. i'm like, who even notices this?
koreans lol
I was recently binge watching a plastic surgeon’s channel & I learnt that often when you get one procedure it’s necessary to get another to ‘balance’ things out that’s why people who start getting these procedures end up adding more and more… So before you decide to do it, be prepared to continually go for maintenance treatments.
yup, you’ll keep going and going. it’s also psychologically addictive
I rate Anna for being upfront and self assured. Guys, confidence in oneself and assertion is not always arrogance.
that's a great influence for Korean society where they expect people to be extra self-effacing all the time, in interviews especially as far as i can tell
David - I'm so happy you started this podcast!! The topics super interesting & engaging to hear about daily life from native Koreans & international/western Koreans, and I'm grateful you don't shy away from "uncomfortable" discussion that are equally as important! Especially since our asian parents's generation tend to avoid talking about this with their kids! It feels like such a safe space. I literally binge watch all of DKDKTV and Anna's vlogs hehe you're all so amazing & continuously work hard to push quality content in a competitive space💗❤🥺
Anna is a very confident woman. All these ladies are. Different personalities but all strong beautiful women. Wonderful group today!
Well said!
Very true😊
I have to say David is very good at conducting these interviews and keeping the conversation flowing so naturally. He’s so articulate, relaxed and always keeps it professional no matter what he’s going through in his personal life. He’s also hilarious at the same time with his sense of humour lol I’m quite impressed with how resilient and motivated he always is. Took me a long time to subscribe but now officially a subscriber. Also, love watching Jina … she’s so cute and fun to watch.. reminds me of my own bf ☺️ so petite and cute - 👋 Jina
I also just subscribed, I think David is very good at hosting and keeping the conversation interesting.
I'm 71 years old and I learned that the beauty of men or women is their inner selfs, the person you are inside, because a woman can be super beautiful and a man can be super handsome but are cruel, mean, good for nothing, only to often people their beauty is worthless. I do agree that we need to take care of ourselves for our happiness and our health, but never do it because you are been pressured to do it, do it for you and not for what other think of you. Don't care of what other think of you, just like Anna said: Do it for your own happiness not because of what other say. Think "THE HELL WITH THEM, I'M GOING TO DO ME" PERIOD. This was a very good talk all though I didn't agree with a lot of things. So just be yourself and don't pay attention of what other say and remember beauty is with in you, not what you are out side of you. Sending A Lot Of Agape Love To All Of You From El Paso, Texas. 🥰
'suffocating', you summed it up perfectly David, unfortunately, that level of pressure leads to strong self-hatred and self-rejection. As a therapist, the most common underlying issue I deal with is feeling 'not good enough' and I can hear that all the way through this conversation, sadly...
I really like Anna, she’s advocating health over vanity, an aspect of life people tend to neglect.
Isn’t these beauty standards toxic?
Its the hyper competitive culture with Koreans, even outside Korea growing up around korean community you see and feel the hyper competitiveness with everything you do.
Yeah and a lot of attractive people to aspire to who have NOT had surgery 😹
Every Asian immigrant circle is hyper competitive.
David's energy is so calm and inviting, he facilites the discussion so well and makes sure every guest speaks on a particular sub topic. This is a fun podcast to watch/hear. Great effort by the whole team. 🎉
I like the way moderator so chill and relaxed. He's quick witted but don't easily gets offended. He also managed to steer the conversation to stay on topic and cover all important questions. Good job👍
The obsession with looks is because Koreans are one of the most homogeneous peoples, language and culture in the world. So the obsession to stand out from a good looking perspective is very desired. It goes way back. But yes, within a certain limit within the societal trends.
Brilliant perspective, I never would've considered that and it makes a lot of sense
wow never thought of it that way. interesting perspective indeed. im curious if its the case for other homogenous countries too
I actually clapped reading this. Yes.
Makes a lot of sense
@@koreanpizzaclub I can answer nope
David and Anna are doing their thing. Thumbs up from San Francisco
17:21 it affects every country but it seems Korea definitely has far stricter standards. To my knowledge an ideal weight regardless of height is not something bandied around even casually in Euro-America. People get that being taller or having a different build will affect that. I'm sure Koreans know this too, but if being under 50kg goes around so much that it becomes a thing women subconsciously check themselves against then it's another level.
The conformity in Asia doesn't help at all. Sure there's pressure everywhere, but they're Korean so they lament and comment about their dilemmas.
David is so well spoken all his guest look so comfortable because he seems like great listener.
another reason why plastic surgeries and dermatology visits are so prevalent in korea is that
these clinics are super cheap and so easily accessible
there are loads of beauty clinics that are open till 9 pm weekdays, and open 365 days a year (mostly open till 5pm at weekends and national holidays)
the price is unbelievable too; for instance you can get whole face skin botox injection at about 30 dollars
the doctors are really skilled too
so ppl can get these procedures/surgeries more easily
and ppl feel that these procedures/sergeries are something not to be fussed about
The white skin procedures really work. Felix from Stray Kids is a great example. Bro was tanned like most Asians and now he's as pale as a ghost. It's crazy that Kai from EXO gets called dark. Even saw one in this comment section. He's like one shade from white like a #21/22.
Are you sure its not makeup?
Felix used a filter
Koreans have skin easy to be tanned. Many Koreans become to have brighter skin when they become adults. As they become less outdoors. Not only Korean, When South east Asian com to Korea and live here for a long time, their skin becom brighter than before. So far, there's no technology that can brighten your skin beyond your genetic skin color.
Or maybe it's because of the lighting.
Say no to skin bleaching
Felix didnt have any procedure like that lol😭😭 it s either a filter or the light. He actually apologised for posting a photo where he looked very whitewashed and then posted the original photo as well.
This was very interesting. As someone who lived in Korea for two years. In my opinion, Korea has a very conformist culture. And as such they follow trends and tend to try and look like one another or emulate what is popular. For example one of the first things I noticed when I first got to Korea was how every single Korean girl had the same red lips and style of makeup on. It was so different than America. Like what you guys said it also has to do with societal pressure, I felt it too, I bought red lipstick too lol. If everyone is doing it, you feel like you need to do it too in order to fit in. I think that’s why beauty standards itself is so prevalent in Korea. Idk if that makes sense. But yea.
banyan tree better give you a suite to film future episodes, love this format - Anna should be permanent host imo
It's true that in the UK or the US you should not put your photo on your Cv. But they do not represent abroad. In France Italy Spain Germany to only name those, photos are not mandatory but it's a cultural thing to put your photo on the CV so it's not just Korea.
It’s because there’s a ton of racial bias and discrimination that can occur and have been shown to occur in the USA. Your name in itself signals your probability of getting a job, just imagine the racial profiling that can occur with your photo.
@henry tep I am sorry but racism is not just in the US. I am French and we have had plenty of official tests and studies that show that your name (sounds muslim... sounds African... sounds Indian...), address (you come from the "hood"), and "race" brings discrimination here. Even our government can't deny it since it's public knowledge here. Spain also has big issues on that topic. Yet photos are still a thing because it's just part of the culture to show your face before an interview here. I lived studied and worked in the USA in 2 different states. Kentucky and Florida, and when it comes to discrimination regarding jobs Europe is absolutely not better except maybe for the UK or Germany.
@@HereDiianas I don't think I ever said racism was just in the U.S. But I am saying that we probably don't do it here in the US because of racism. Also I don't recall saying anything about Europe being better/worst than the U.S. in regards to racism. I hope this clears up any misunderstanding.
Dear reader: If you are new to this channel, Ep 1 & 3 are a MUST watch. 👌🏻👌🏻
I love all the guests here... My fave is Jina Kim!!! Adore her way to respect and listen other's opinions without interrupting and still able to speak up her own ❤
Yess she's the best
Be kind & confident. There's nothing sexier/more beautiful than a person that is nice & feels good in their own skin.
I’m from America and it’s very rare to wear makeup at my job. Most of us don’t think it’s necessary.
same here in india as well! we don't really care a lot about beauty standards here (that doesn't mean that we don't have beauty standards obviously like for example fair skin is really appreciated in india). most women over here just do their skincare and after that maybe an eyeliner or a lipbalm but that's it and proceed with their day. we only apply makeup on special occasions like weddings or festivals!
This is a topic i've seen on multiple korean centered youtube channels and this podcast touched on most of the popular topics i've heard about. If it's someone's first time hearing about this kind of topic i'd say they would have gotten the gist of it with this podcast. so well done panel! Beauty standards are quite hard to achieve and the only way to get it 100% is through some form of augmentation, and even then one might not achieve it since trends are ever changing. Although it takes a lot of work to mentally be strong and confident in yourself, i'd hope people would try their best to accept themselves just as they are instead of trying to conform to society beauty standard. And I hope society shift towards accepting the uniqueness that we all were born with.
That was another fabulous episode. Can't wait for the next!
There can't be one ideal for appearance. Everybody is attracted to different things. I personally love mono-lids the most. It's a beautiful Korean feature that i envy. I also love olive/tan skin far more than pail skin. And while i appreciate people who work out for health reasons, I am not a fan of people who workout just to get a boyfriend or girlfriend. Life throws us so many blows over the years and it's important to have grace in those situations and just love people the way they are. Personality is so much more important than looks.
I have grown to love monolids and I think both are nice. I think it depends on how your eyes match with your other facial features more less than it being about mono or double lids. I also prefer the regular Korean skin tone. I absolutely hate the ghost white look and also hate the over-tanned look. Normal skin tone, slightly tanned, or slightly pale are all okay to me.
Love Anna’s honesty
This is honestly one of the best channels in TH-cam with this kind of subjects. Well done David and everyone involved.
I just wanted to say on this specific matter that we always want what we don't have. We are (unfortunately) in the era of image. That by itself is a problem, because it means that we care more for the outside than for the inside. Far more when certain images are considered the best way to be/look and put so much pressure especially on young people who are still trying to figure out who they are.
For us in European countries Asian people always looked exotic and beautiful.
It is another thing to put an effort on your well being and looks, for your own sake and another thing to try to built an image that is considered mainstream and some times the process to built it can be harmful.
Rooting for Jina Kim and the rest of the crew 🎉🎉🎉 all my favorite TH-camrs 👍😀
I love Jina Kim!!!!
I have so much to say about this that I feel like I’m all over the place with many thoughts. But at the depth of all this it feels like we’re not evolving to healthier ways of living. It is shallow to live this way and it only hurts ourselves in the end. We should focus more on self love and less on trying to fit ourselves into trends that come and go. That is not a stable way of living and it can be an emotional roller coaster. Also when we judge ourselves on needing this and that, we also see the world that way because that is what is inside us. This is living shallow.
45:20 « Do it because it makes you happy not because you are trying to impress other people » YES and that is why I never wear makeup nor a bra, I am free and happy and confortable 🙌 it is liberating to say f*ck u to beauty standards. I work out because it makes me feel good and I feel more confident and beautiful than ever!
Very interesting topic. Beauty standards vary throughout the world but I do think its very competitive in South Korea. Honestly, I dont wear makeup at all, not even a little.. maybe if there's an event or party then yes but if that was the standard in the office, I would be jobless.
Soobeenie has the perfect hair, she could be the model for any shampoo brand
Perfect is relative but nice hair usually means super thick and with a natural wave. She has flat hair and it's not that thick.
@@janvdb9258 stfu hater u r prob bold Jan
@@janvdb9258 since when « perfect » equal wave ? Lol
Perfect only refer to the healthiness of the hair and she has really healthy hair.
So yea we can say she has perfect hair.
@@Solip_i exactly 💯
@@Solip_i her.part line is wide,.doesnt mean healthy as can be. And a wave is.the preferred hair around the world and the easiest to style and looks healthiest. Straight hair looks dull. Which is why she used a curling instrument to put in a fake wave
Love Anna’s personality! They all are great and very nice ladies but it seems like Anna’s carefee attitude and unwilling to conform to k-beauty rules makes her even more attractive!
I normally don't wear makeup, but when I visited Korea last summer, I found myself putting on some amount of makeup throughout my trip... lol
smh korea
me rn
True!!!! In my country I go out without wearing makeup but in korea I was wearing makeup even to 7-Eleven! Because in korea I was feeling always the pressure that everyone is looking at me and checking my appearance.
Great conversation. I really learnt a lot here. Thank you, guys. Well-being is too much of a precious thing to sacrifice it chasing this unicorn of good looks…Jamila Jamil has it right when she says that body neutrality is the perfect mindset. Take care of your health, embrace the wonder that is your body and what it can do, and do not give a second thought to anything in your body that doesn’t “fit in”. Even the obsession with “looking healthy”, “building muscle” and “putting factor 50+ to avoid wrinkles” is a way of conforming and giving yourself pressure. Live life to the full and do not impose your standards on others. Everybody has their own personal standard of what’s attainable and realistic physically for a happy life. What others think does not matter in the least. Beauty standards be damned. Burn it all!

Always love the “new person” guest Jina in this case they’re always interesting and love Anna!
I'll forever be thankful I'm not living in a suffocating society but my heart absolutely breaks for the people that have to live like that where beauty is everything even down to the animals.
lol. you judging one nation based on this one vid is typical people behavior. Lots of Koreans live happily without plastic surgery. Y don’t you come down here see for yourself
These podcasts are so interesting! I love them ❤ Thanks for doing this, David. I especially love it when you & Anna are on the panel together because then it's just so natural and fun! 🤗💯
Curious whether the beauty standard is more expected from young people or are older Koreans also expected to look just as good
Entire gen
I love Anna’s opinion 😂 I feel like we would get along well! Also omg Congrats David! I hope you will enjoy your stay and the service in Turkey 🥰 it is a really popular procedure in Turkey and for men all around Europe in general! I wish you the best 😊
Unrealistic beauty standards have been an issue for American teenagers for years, and it is slowly getting better with the introduction of more full size or average size women in print and tv ads as well as the music industry.
It’s just as unrealistic still. Plus sized women are expected to have perfect curves instead, and perfect grooming and makeup and cosmetic procedures. The only difference is the dress size.
Anna talking about the importance of sunscreen while regularly going to tanning salons 😔
Some advice from a golden girl. I’ve met absolutely beautiful people on the outside but horrible on the inside. I’ve met some meh looking people that were absolutely beautiful on the inside. I have met people that I didn’t really think about there looks but got to know them and later found them beautiful. It is all how you look at life and the people around you. The keepers are the ones with a good heart. If you fall for their heart and soul they become the most beautiful people in the world to you. Trying to fit into the world and be like everyone else is ok but I think being true to yourself and letting that inner self shine is the most beautiful thing ever. So fly your little freak flags and and forget the rude people. They aren’t worth your time or energy. Some people don’t find RM attractive but I think he is extremely handsome. He has shown us a part of this heart and soul and it is smexy as hell. Get cosmetic surgery if it will make you feel better but also work on the inside to be the best you that you can be. I mean there is a reason many Twitter armies call Joon Daddy. 😉
Joonie is a cutiepie - sexy brain + sweet heart all the way 😹👍
Yess, I find Joonie the most attractive and hot!! Also I agree with all your other points.. well said 🔥
Namjoon is hella Handsome with his sexy brain 🔥😮💨
@@icingcake fr❤😂
Add my agreement to the Namjoon discussion. The man is so smart and kind with a great, goofy sense of humor and ALSO gorgeous with beautiful honey gold skin. Ideal guy
Good topics. A lot of ''average'' korean men in South Korea view are handsome for me. I talked with some guys, for me they are really handsome in my Brazilian perspective, but they say to me they are ugly in South Korea is weird to me.
That's not uncommon for Korean men or women. It's actually quite normal. A lot of Koreans girls that are viewed as hot or beautiful in America or by American guys are considered average in Korea. Funny how things work sometimes lol.
@@dksoulstice6040 Sometimes i see korean people saying that x and y foreigners are gorgeous but they arent considered gorgeous in their own home country so it goes both ways
Taste is personal. For me the Korean beauty standards are unappealing. Pale, thin, short, the brows, lips are blah. I know in Korea everyone loves Jissoo of Blackpink but in most of the world, Lisa is the pretty one even though she has had a tonne of work done.
im ugly :(
@@koreanpizzaclub not to me 😉❤️
I recently got my medical checkup with my friend who works out every day. And his weight was "overweight" but his waist measurement was wayy below where it needed to be. But they still labeled him as obese. Like clearly there is a lot of muscle.
In America, cosmetic surgery is paid out of your pocket and it’s very expensive.
Good to see Jina. You should have her again!
Minoxidil doesn’t affect “function down there”. finasteride does, although the topical form has less systemic absorption and might have less of those side effect
So many standards, and it gets to an unhealthy point. Hearing the unfortunate death of a Canadian man who received multiple plastic surgery to look like BTS Jimin, this discussion feels more valuable more than ever.
The way I wheezed while listening to the title of the webtoon told with an unbothered tone.

I've been following Soobeanie and Jina for beauty tips for years.. nice to see them together! As a foreigner who has visited Korea many times, thinking I was "dressed" enough to blend in... I didn't ... and koreans noticed it right away & spoke up. THus.. You can't keep up with those trends.. just be yourself and be happy regardless of what korean society thinks of you. or even back at home.
I think those things only matter as much as you allow them to. There were times when I went out and was “overdressed” and other times i looked like a bum 😂 I wouldn’t have noticed if people jugded me or not because i didn’t care.
see i told them they were beauty influencers haha
I really like Anna’s mindset and perspective 💛🫶🏻✨

I am Asian which is a bit light yellow brown skin color.
many Swedish friends often say to me ohh "I've been sunbathing. Im now tanner than you" and they are so proud of it😅😅☺️
Same in the US. We love suntanned skin
Fashion trends and body types continue to shift every few years. I look at it like clothes they are trendy will later become retro that generations later will wear.
when will my time come?
@@koreanpizzaclub Your time is now!
Love Tappytoon 😂 I thought it was a general commercial! Lol and Omg I would throw hands at work if someone told me I need wear make up! Some days us women just wanna be barefaced !
I work in the USA in very large corporations, and I never wear makeup and no one tells me anything. They evaluate me by the quality of my work and my work professionalism more related to attitude and appearance like appropriate clothing not looks like makeup.
I mean fat shaming makes harder to fat people to get access to proper healthcare, they are dismissed as lazy, society in general will not appreciate if you gain weight but if you lose its "good", skinny people can be bodyshamed for sure but the fatphobic is systematically cause society despises any gain of fat, being skinny is never out of fashion in the media either, and in general being skinny is the main goal for most women, i think in general we should not talk about peoples bodies but they, bodyshaming and fatshaming, are mainly different issues.
At the end the host is like “i dubb you top korean beauty specialists” haha great podcasts!
Photos during job search would be discriminatory in U.S.A, unless your job is modeling, acting, etc. But you’re right, you can be discriminated during interview.
Asian Men are actually known among races for having nice hair so I get why balding is such a triggering thing for them.
Why is this podcast so underrated?
glutathione is what i read will "brighten" people's skin, it is largely considered healthy but i have read some obscure information saying otherwise. apparently it works, but is that considered a vitamin?
Loved every part of the video. The way u guys explain it 😍♥
K beauty….the skin care is great but one thing is very noticeable…so many people are interchangeable, they wear the same makeup, same hair, same clothes. One person could drop dead in a crowd and another person stands in their place and no one could see a difference. Too much of trying to fit in and look like everyone else, it’s disturbing
I think it's the competitive instinct to look better than others. Every country has the culture of competitiveness but Koreans tend to start focussing more on appearance just like they used to look smarter with brighter future by going to more academically popular colleges. This culture only started about 15 years ago so the focus changes over time. In America/Europe, it is more diverse so some people want to look more athletic, while others want to look better in the areas they're focussing on be it chess, Star Wars nerds or sports.
Glutamithone shot is super popular in South Asia too for skin lighting
Love the honest chats!
Glad I found this! I must have missed David mentioning it. Best of luck with it! I subbed.
This whole thing not just for Korea but around the world is just heart breaking.
Who cares about standards!~~
Confidence is the most charming thing! Be confident with who you are, eat healthy ( doesn't matter what's your weight ) and be kind! What else do we need? These are the basics. Even if you look like Barbie but you're insecure, if you are in bad mood coz of diets, if you are not kind ... so where's the beauty in this?
Everyone is attracted more by happy people, not beautiful ❤
Depends on what sector in America you work in. When I was a waitress my manager told me she would fire me if I didn't wear makeup. It's not legal for them to make that requirement but a lot do verbally. Now in the UK and one of the places I got vet experience had in their rules that fem presenting people must have makeup but not too much. Most places in the UK do not require it though. I'd say it's more required in the US than the UK
David, you are so handsome and cute, in addition to being humble and honest! Stay that way!
There's nothing more beautiful than being healthy and cheerful. No amount of makeup or gym work will make up for a bad attitude. As a guy (Aussie) I prefer women to wear minimal makeup, maybe just a little to highlight their eyes. Designer clothes make them look untouchable and no-fun. Also I notice women with a lot of makeup and expensive clothes often adopt a cocky attitude which isnt there when they are makeup-free.
My son lives in Western Europe and remarked that women in Spain are among the most beautiful because of their minimal makeup and natural appearances.
the first thing i always notice how contradictory beauty standards are. Abs + Curvy hips, the slim thicc thing, everything related to skintones, where lighter countries go darker and darker countries go lighter. Obviously its not that simple where these standards come from, but in the end its basically just making a market out of things any specific group doesnt naturally have, except a few individuals that do have and kinda lucked out on the trend, but will inevitably go out of trend at some point.
Love Anna, Soobeanie and Jina. Go girls.
Turn on the CC
I love Korean culture but also think it's a shame a lot of people are so obsessed with looking perfect
sometimes i look at photos of female kpop idols and they look like pin-heads; in the west, i think movie stars often have a bigger face or head/associated with more charisma. even the glamour of hair extensions, big hair, is something apparently western-centric
Okay, I'm weird but I always wonder what people like this think of "ugly" people. Like, I don't fit a single beauty standard. It would take more plastic surgeries than my body could handle to make me "beautiful" and while I have come to terms with this I just always wonder what actual beautiful people think about this. As beauty standards become increasingly unattainable do they worry there will be a point in which they no longer have value? I know this probably is odd to most people to wonder about, but I'm not most people. On a side note, I don't agree with fat shaming or skinny shaming. Oddly I think fat shaming came to create control in beauty standards while skinny shaming has come from a inability to obtain that beauty standard. I have really noticed the skinny shaming hit at a point when the weight preference has hit a point that a larger percentage of people can't achieve such a low weight. I have noticed this is when people struggled they started with being upset that they were starving themselves and couldn't drop anymore weight, and then turned to anger and started skinny shaming. But that is just a personal observation. Well, this is long so nobody will probably read this, but it was just some thoughts I felt let getting out of my brain :)
You sound grounded and beautiful. Outward beauty is great but the beauty within is more valuable you become beautiful. A beautiful person outwardly but with no beauty within becomes unappealing as time moves on.
You guys should also talk about plastic surgery hospitals that locals go to and that are usually recommended that's good there! :)
This is a very interesting topic. In Ukraine, for example, too thorough make-up, even if it is not vulgar, can be perceived in some companies as disrespectful. This creates the impression that a woman is looking for a man in the office, rather than prioritizing work. Although, compared to Western Europe, girls in Ukraine pay more attention to their appearance. Therefore, in serious positions, it is advisable to wear as little visible makeup as possible. In some countries of Western Europe, for example, Italy or France, women hardly wear makeup, considering it vulgar, and a woman who constantly wears makeup is frivolous.
I hope peace and prosperity for your country. ❤❤ I know the war of Ukraine doesn’t make headlines in the news as it used to but I wanted you to know that there are people like me around the globe who still care and support you guys. Lots of love from Iran 🇮🇷❤️❤️
(P.S. majority of Iranians disagree with our dictator government and it’s dirty brutal politics)
I know my first comment was unrelated but I just had to say it so sorry about that 😅
Also, your statements about beauty were informing and interesting, thank you.
Ukrainian women are 🔥 so are Ukrainian men !
this is very true, i’m from the uk and in the workplace wearing little and natural looking makeup is fine but when it’s visible it can be seen as disrespectful, i mean it’s a workplace so looks aren’t the priority. women who wear heavy looking makeup in the work place are looked down upon as not taking their work seriously etc
Wow I find that amazing. Sounds so archaic. We have makeup done up for daytime which is a bit lighter and makeup for night time if you are going out for the evening is heavier.
"Does she have curves??" Thank you David! Wonyoung does not have curves. I mean yes, very pretty, tall, etc, and yes some curves, but her body type is not a representation of someone with "curves." Lots of other girl idols hold that trophy. Great conversation. Korea sounds crazy.
Enjoyed this so much, can't wait for more...love Anna so so much
Had so much fun that. I subscribed ^.^ Beauty is in the monolid eyes f the beholder
Great episode, thank you 🙏
Just to add, I also think that Koreans, as a society (based on what I have learned from watching content), are conformist - people like to conform, they don’t like breaking rules, and tend to be obedient to societal norms and expectations. You are all very good citizens. So beauty standards and the things that are expected of you to conform to beauty standards (make up, procedures, skin care, body type, clothes etc) get entrenched very easily, and they have a high “up-take” rate, a very high % of people implement these things in their lives. So trends become standards quite quickly, and “everyone” is doing it. It’s not a bad thing, it’s what makes your country so safe, with very little crime 🤷♂️🤗❤️
Hi KPC,
This was a very insightful discussion about Korean culture. And it was great to see Anna again, she seems to know a lot bc she’s lived abroad and been everywhere.
