      Loved this episode as always! As someone interested in Korean history I think several topics would be interesting to cover:
      -South Koreans’ view of North Korea and North Koreans, maybe even invite defectors for a chat and their experiences in the South.
      - Older generations experiences of growing up in Korea in the 70s/80s/90s and comparing it to now, I know quality of life has improved drastically and their have been huge technological developments in such a short period of time, I think the discrepancy between the younger generation and the older generation could be very interesting
      Then maybe a lighter but more interesting topic could also be about the spread of Korean Culture, why are people so drawn to everything Korean now? Of course the simple answer is K-pop and Kdrama but loads of other countries have their own variations of music and tv shows, why is specifically Korean culture so popular these days?

    But doesnt this kind of point out that unless you are atteactive, good looking foreigner your experience in south korea will be better because they fit “ beauty standards”? No hate but there is some truth to this, in the beginning of the podcast even David introduces everyone by there profession which involves physical appearance.
    I mostly just wish this was talked about or atleast someone addressed the elephant in the room. Looks can only get you so far, it takes talent and personality to get there but yall are seriously gorgeous talented people 😂

    This episode was extremely entertaining and interesting. I wonder what the opinions of older foreigners might be. Not those who have lived in Korea as "lifers" but those who are older and just arrived. The job scape for those who might not be interested in the entertainment field and what those options might be and what their happiness index would be.
    EDIT: I understand that this might not be as interesting of a topic but it is something I have been curious about.

      I was lucky enough to visit Seoul in 2018 for 10 days with my best friend, and we loved it!!! The people, food, history, nightlife, architecture, shopping, street food, etc are all amazing! There were a couple of downsides, but most of it was positive! I have missed it everyday since and I cried in the car a little bit as we were driving to the airport 😂 I hope to make it back there soon - planning on it for the BTS comeback 💜

      Community REALLY makes or breaks the experience here as a foreigner. When I felt I had a close community, I was so happy in Korea and thought I’d stay here forever. Sadly, shit happens and now I definitely feel like my community is thinner/more shaky, and I’m probably leaving Korea because of it :( If you wanna come to Korea, definitely make an effort to find your people. It will make such a huge difference

      I did a lot of research about being black and Korea so the starting was a little frustrating but overall so many Koreans were so kind and friendly. I loved my 2 weeks there and I miss it. I didn't think I would fall in love with the country. It's on my small list of places I MUST return to.

    Hi David, I enjoy your show so so much. I love the topics you cover and your guests are interesting. I am a middle aged Female American living in Hawaii. I was there in March/April for a month's stay. I LOVE Korea. And I do entertain the idea of moving to Korea. As an X-Pat. lol Actually, I am a happy American, but I love the idea of immersing into another culture. The country of S Korea made me feel very at home. It. was a natural feeling to be there, and I want to go back. Do you have any links of resources or contracts/ groups that I may check out to connect with Americans living in Korea? That would be amazing. Thank you for this great show. I love KPC!! :)

    You wanna talk about safety and danger in America, a marine formed a militia with other marines throughout the country to grape and impregnate women in states that banned abortion. They were equipped with military grade gear to target victims efficiently like night vision goggles. A cop in NY even bought him an assault rifle in support… The man was released from prison last June. Stay safe ladies.

    PLEASE! I’m 74 and I need a translation. WHAT is “being catfished”?!

    • @EkaretinaP
      @EkaretinaP ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Catfishing is a deceptive activity in which a person creates a fictional persona or fake identity on a social networking service, usually targeting a specific victim. The practice may be used for financial gain, to compromise a victim in some way, as a way to intentionally upset a victim, or for wish fulfillment.
      But sometimes it’s just to look way better on dating apps, but then you meet this person and realise they don’t look anywhere near their profile pic

Think it…no I know it was the area (we stayed in the business district). I’m going to try again next year (perhaps closer to Itaewon). This post made me want to try again. I will try again. I don't plan on moving to Korea, but I'm interested in the culture, obviously thanks to K-dramas and BTS (hi ARMY! 💜) I'm foreigner myself, living in London and I find cultural differences all the time. What I'm jealous of is your sense of safety, like guests pointed out. I would definitely like to visit Seoul, so fingers crossed I'll have that opportunity in the future. when i visited there i was kinda gobsmacked by how much racism there was after traveling asia for 6months i got virtually none as im asian, then the moment i spoke english their faces went to disgust and said no no 70% of the time, friendliest plp in korea where the foreigners lol. took a flight to vietnam and spoke to 2 old vendors and they were laughing instantly which i never got in korea in a month there, also korea had worst asian food
    koreas confucianism= if your different (same as a school bully) YOU need to change to fit with them, but if your a different race or have mental illness theres no way to be the same, hence why theres no mental health in korea. why you have most suicides in world
