Loved this episode! I'm a Nu'est fan and it's nice to see Aaron on KPC~ Also I love that he flexed his writing credentials lol I remember always wishing Nu'est had more shine because as a fan we didn't get to see them too much like some of the bigger groups. It's unfortunate they had to deal with those extreme fans (both of them). Humans are still humans, I get admiration but you have to draw the line and act like you have some common sense lol
I feel so sorry about former idols. No higher education, no money, no options for a decent job Why do people still try to debut. This job is only for 10 years and after that you're nobody and you start everything from the beginning
It may depend on the company as well as the individual. SM seems to emphasize education, especially for the younger trainees. For example, SHINee members all have their masters degrees and continue studying to this day.
Thank you David and KPC team for having Aaron and Joel It's definitely refreshing to see them as guests instead of hosts ((but I do miss KCB too please comeback soon 😂😂))
This was a great episode and I loved hearing about Aaron and Joel's post-idol life in entertainment and media after leaving their respective groups. Glad to hear that Aaron still considers himself as an idol and that the NU'EST members keep in touch regularly! I hope they get many opportunities to meet their fans in the future. Would love to read Aaron's writing with his strong writing skills!
Great video and topic! I remember when Nu’est debuted. It’s great it’s see the members thriving! I would be very interested in seeing a video with the same topic with female idols/ex-idols. I imagine they have very different pressures and experiences training, being and idol, and after completing their contracts.
David, i love your show because you educate me on the Korean culture and everything Korean especially the younger generation and I make sure I see all your shows . I am a huge fan of BTS. The powerhouse of talent. I am a 79 year old Chinese Jamaican and reside in the USA since 1962. I live to see the artistic and beautiful side of Asian youth and turn the awful depiction of Asians on its head. I am grateful for that gift. I especially enjoy this show because I learned idols are successful after their group disbanded. Thank you so much.
Thank you David for another wonderful podcast episode of KPC. I am new to K-pop so I didn’t know who your guest were but I enjoyed watching the interactions. 💜🦋🤗
How is it possible that they have not heard of DKDTV? At one point, wasn't it the most famous TH-cam Kpop podcast in the world? I seriously thought it was. If it's only well-known in the US then other countries outside of Korea are missing out.
Aw! I remember seeing Nuest debut. Such a talented group but bad company. Didn't know of Joel but now I do. He is hilarious. Will def check out podcast. Glad u got them on. I def understand of not wanting to go back. My family moved here several years ago and it has changed alot. I told my mom I don't think I want to raise my kids here. She said where would you go! I don't know but everything is crazier now and def not safe to send kids to school.
I am a hard-core L.O.Λ.E, now a fan of KCB too. But I have also been a fan of DKDKTV, and like both David and Danny as well. There on DKDKTV, in the past, I used to comment to invite NU'EST haha ... never thought I would see solo NU'EST member with solo DKDKTV crew member together. It's cool.
Wonderful interview and guests, as always, David ^^ I don't know how easy it would be to do, or if it's within the scope of this channel. But i would be really interested in hearing from foreigners who were able to land positions in science related fields instead of just entertainment. Would be really interesting to hear about the paths they used to get where they are and their thoughts on work culture.
Ah these two are breaths of fresh air. WHAT a lovely "couple". I laughed so hard at the hospital story. It's like a KDRAMA/CDRAMAS where the leads get closer at the hospital 😂. YOUR FUTURE IS BRIGHT
That's just common sense to be careful with your life. You never know what opportunities may come your way but something stupid you did in the past may prevent that. These guys are smart.
Ooo exciting I wasn't a Nu'est fan but I heard when they were disbanding and knew of them and I think they have one of the best disbandment song I've ever seen or heard and I recommend it to everyone the emotion behind the implications made me feel like I should've been a fan🎉
Joel has got a very interesting mind set. His energy is very bubbling. Never heard about these bands but it is interesting to hear foreign perspective. And I would definitely agree about North America. It is scary being there. But downside of this episode is that they didn’t talk about personal life, and generally what rules they had while they were trainees. What they were allowed what not but now they have an opportunity to do. But they talked Just some general staff. Maybe for Koreans these parts are obvious. But as a foreigner I was curious.
Aaron seems more Korean in is mannerisms whilst Joel’s confidence seems still more American although he feels more Korean. A question I would have liked to ask is what did they have to change to be more accepted into the Korean culture?
Totally enjoyed this episode . Have re-watched it again. Such articulate and interesting young men . Agree 💯 on the part of what they said about U.S. Very interesting discussion. 1 hour + went like couple of minutes. 🏆🥇
I prefer if each company (shouldnt even be that many companies) debut 1 group or artist every 4-5 years. they only get to focus on 1 artist for 4-5 years before getting another. One should be established before debuting another. Also don't be desperate and just sign a paper! Probably would sign better contracts if most weren't children.
My family also went to AZ back in the 1800’s! My great-great grandfather drove a stagecoach in Tombstone. Maybe my ancestors were friends with Joel’s-heck we might even be distantly related! Great conversation, guys! Thank you so much for sharing. It was insightful. I’ll definitely check out the Korean Cowboys podcast! ❤
I’m late watching but so glad this show popped up. I am a Nu’est fan & have to say Aron’s voice is so very beautiful on the song And I. While I love all of the voices & they are dreamy Aron’s is so good. Living in the states our Country is not what it was. Like Aron & Joel stated, the United States is not what it used to be.
So, David, serious question, if someone recognizes you on the street would you rather not be approached? And I mean like a friendly “hey, I enjoy your podcast”, not anything creepy.
A question I have never heard asked is, "Do you ever resent the lack of opportunities in America for asian americans? Or having to move to Korea to pursue your entertainment career?"
One of my favorite episodes yet. Definitely going to check out Aaron and Joel’s podcast. They had such interesting stories and a good balance of personalities. Great episode David!
Thank you so much David and KPC for having Joel and Aaron on the show. I have never clicked on a yt video so quickly! It was really nice seeing them as interviewees. A side of them, we often do not get to see. I love the way their personality just shines through without restriction. Seeing the banter between them is always hilarious. As a fan of KCP, I enjoyed seeing them and hearing them once again; especially because they are on hideous now.
So funny when they talk which kpop gen their group are. Nu'est might fall into 2nd gen or 2.5 gen or earliest 3rd gen at most but Joel definitely fall into 3rd gen
Woah this is my 1st time seeing joel but he is so entertaining and so witty im an instant fan of his, i just gotta go find this cowboy podcast and subscribe. Thats alot david for inviting them, i hope you will invite them and again have more entertaining talks.
I absolutely love music, singing, and messing around with instruments, but once you're married and have kids... exhaustion sets in! Actually, my and the hubby's voices blend well. Being an idol has such a different approach than what we're used to. It takes a specific character to enjoy that kind of scene. The preasure is extremely high to become a top achiever. If you are completely passionate about music, it will work for you! Kpop is loved all over the world, but the diversity of it is a bit limited. It's a pop genre, full stop. You don't see much variation to the topic. Sorry if it sounds like criticism, it's not! Best to go solo or have a small band and do what you like. Xx
I loved this podcast so much. I enjoyed learning about these two handsome young men and giving us a slight glimpse at a former K-idol life. They were so down to earth and I was captivated by the conversation right from the beginning. There was not a dull moment. But then there is never a dull moment with any of your podcasts, David. Once again, you did a great job with all your interesting questions and keeping it flowing. Thank you for a fun podcast! 👍🏼
I'd leave America too, if I could. I'd move to London, but there's no perfect place. These young men were very interesting. I've already subscribed to their channel. Thanks for the interview. Great job David!!! Welcome home, we missed you.
The video was really interesting as always, thanks David! And the two boys were super funny and cool! It was really fun listening to them. Unfortunately, I didn't know who they were at first and both of them surprised me so positively! I will definitely listen to their podcast and follow them both in the future. Thanks for the chat guys!
I find it funny how different cultures deem things so differently maybe a more western culture to see a shirtless man as asian culture it would b seen as nude n y r they always dieting omg with the Exercise they do dancing, etc. you’ll never gain weight
Fun and interesting episode, David, thank you. About early age debuting, Taemin became a trainee at 11 (international age) and was walked to school by his members. He debuted in 2008 at 14, when all the SHINee members didn't feel ready to debut. In a recent interview, when asked, Taemin said he'd prefer debuting as an adult (because he missed so much of a normal childhood, friendships, school trips, etc.) but only if he could debut with Onew, Jonghyun, Key, and Minho.
This was such a sincere podcast! Thank you for inviting Aaron and Joel~ Glad that you asked questions fans were always curious about but never got a chance to find out:)

As an American I understand not wanting to live here. I think it'll take years and years to get out of the current chaos.
It’s getting crazy over here for sure :P
💯 only the Mexicans and Koreans have not yet gone woke!

Both these ex-Idols have degrees. It's a choice. Each member of BTS has either a Bachelor's or Master's degree while they are Idols.
It may depend on the company as well as the individual. SM seems to emphasize education, especially for the younger trainees. For example, SHINee members all have their masters degrees and continue studying to this day.

Hopefully female ep. soon!
Was thinking the same, a female episode would be great to see a different part of the spectrum! 🙏
Eyyyy was waiting for this!! My Nuest BTL DKDKTV breadcrumbs 😭❤👏
Not gonna lie was sooo different watching Aaron and Joel being interviewed lol
The art of collabs!

Still so sad about what happened to NUEST. They were truly special one of a kind guys.
I was waiting for the topic of idol dating (restrictions) and post-idol dating! Dating is usually a topic at KPC! Maybe next time... Great episode!
Yeah the tea 😂 some more crazy sasaeng stories 😂
Here come our favourite cowboys!!
David comparing his life experience to that of kpop idols throughout the interview 😂
David’s hair looking fly. Also can’t wait for another episode!
Edit: Plus, thumbed up this episode
👍👍👍🙏
Saw Joel for the first time and absolutely loved his energy.. 😍
One of the best most entertaining episode ! Thanks David for hosting and the guys for sharing your experience. So cool! Bravo
Thank you for enjoying!!

Next will have David as a guest for KCB? Love the collaboration~~~ Thanks!!!! Podcasts hwaiting!!!!
OMG, This is my first time watching Joel & I love him already!❣️
How can songs like 'I love my body ' and being highest rated ratio of country for plastic surgery can go together.
These songs and love yoyrself themes are trying to change the culture but it will take time. Tourism plastic surgery is big income for Korea.
I love this kind of content

Now I have another podcast to watch while KCB are on hiatus.. 😊
KOREAN COWBOYS are sooo ENTERTAINING!🤩🤠.this could be the start of a great collaboration🫶🏼🎤

2.5 gen. When NU'EST was debuted, it was a lot of fun.
I love nu'est's music
David please speed up your editing.. 😫🙏🏻🙏🏻 You kept all of us in a long never-ending drought.
Hahaha I’m sure he’s trying his best
Haha forgive me i was on a biz trip in the States 😭

Haha so funny watching the squid game challenge on Netflix and busting my brain to remember how I know Joel
Didnt expect the variety show that Joel was on would be squid game

this panel is a cuteness overload
Aaron seems more Korean in is mannerisms whilst Joel’s confidence seems still more American although he feels more Korean. A question I would have liked to ask is what did they have to change to be more accepted into the Korean culture?
I think because Aaron's parents are both Koreans though he was born in USA whereas Joel's father is real American.
