  • Today I'm reviewing the new Boots No7 range of skincare aimed at "Menopausal skin". Is this just a marketing tool?!

Agree that menopause skin care is a marketing ploy. Seems wrong that brands and influencers profit from women at such a vulnerable time in our lives

I totally agree with you Karen, Menopause Skincare is a complete cashin with just regular ingredients in normal skincare

Another great review Karen. Thank you. I am beginning to get really sceptical about all this 'menopause' marketing as Loraine details below, the INCI LIST is so important to review, if only to get an idea of the percentages of the ingredients ... some of them are so low down they are barely worth mentioning !!!

Hi Karen as I said on the last video this isn't for me and has nothing (apart from the tiniest amount of soy isoflavones) that makes it any more than the standard scented No7 skincare. I looked at the INCI lists in store when it was released and was extremely disappointed in it. I'm unsurprised you were underwhelmed. The paula's choice version (again as mentioned last time) is more interesting and I will try that one once it reaches the UK - this will probably be at the beginning of 2023, going by how long it takes for the new releases to be sold here. There are those who shouldn't use the PC version eg with oestrogen receptive cancers etc and that won't be an issue with this range - it doesn't have anything in it that will have any effect on oestrogen, so it's not an issue here.
Marketing has finally cottoned onto the fact that women who are forty plus will spend perhaps more on skincare than those who are younger, as they're worried about aging and the things that go with that o the skin. That's all this range is - a marketing gimmick for this new product range and it's wildly overpriced for what it is. If you look at the beneficial ingredients most of them are after phenoxyethanol, so you know they're all at less than 1%. There is little of anything that's before that apart from slip ingredients etc and I can't see these doing anything apart from hydration on anyone's skin. Ceramides can work in low concentrations, but many of the other ingredients need a higher amount to do anything at all. All in all it's such a huge fail/pass for me and I would never buy it - even if it didn't have fragrance in almost everything. The other thing to point out is you can buy a moisturiser from paula's choice here in the UK for the same price and at least their INCI lists are much better. Many of the Niod products are also around this price point and they're far better too. These products are very basic and yet they're charging mid market price tags - it's a massive rip off. Best wishes.

Thanks for that detailed review Loraine... very interesting. I actually think that marketing companies are now jumping on the menopause train with glee ... we may be older, have brain fog and wrinkles, but we aren't ignorant or gullible. Looking at the INCI list is so important!

@@maireadweaver8952 Unfortunately many women have no idea what's in their product and go by the marketing as to what they should buy. I'm 50 with wrinkles and a less firm jawline, have the occasional issue with remembering the exact word I want (a real frustration for someone who has never been stuck for words lol) and my internal thermostat is on the permanent fritz it seems (even four years after my last period). I'm neither ignorant nor gullible (at least i don't think so) and as someone with both rosacea and eczema have had to educate myself re skincare. The INCI list can't tell you everything and formulation also matters, but it is all we have prior to buying the product to hopefully guide us in the right direction. x

It’s just marketing. Everyone’s on the menopause bandwagon. Highlighting menopause problems is vital to long term health, however I feel this marketing is down right disrespectful to our intelligence. I’m 47 and I’ve moved to Caudalie premium range which I’m loving so far and I’ve just been looking at green rooibos skin care from Maysama and I’ve bought that. According to African studies it can protect fat in the face which is a big issues for me at this age.

hi Karen you were using Iunik Beta Glucan serum, I use it and the cream it's gel like I use it day and night, and can honestly say my 70+ skin has never felt so good, in the morning it's so hydrated 😄I also use cosrx snail serum and several The Ordinary serums but adding the Iunik has been a game changer

I love the red hair with green eye shadda. Ur such a beauty...I'm 46 and perimenopausal. Have been going through the change since 42...round abouts. Very nice that they have a skin care line for menopausal wom2n. I use tonuse nom7 foundation. It's really great in my opinion but I've been using lancome for so many yrs now. It's been my go to. I need ro look into this line. Thanks for sharing

Yes, I've done many videos on my HRT experience. They make my migraines worse so I can't take them. They also cause me heavy bleeding so really not for me!
