Is not being able to switch to 3D world in the middle of building your level really the worst thing about Mario Maker 2? I don't know about everyone else, but before I even start building a level I generally have a general idea of what I want the level to be like which will generally determine which game mode it will be from the very beginning.
@@Eternalwarpuppy Yeah, but 3D world doesn’t really have much differences that can’t be implemented in other modes to feel like having it separate really adds anything. Especially since it’s the only game style that’s in a special category. Hopefully if there is a MM 3D 3D World would be upgraded to a 3D style with 64, Odyssey, and possibly Galaxy. I would think they’d be in a separate category considering that a level being 3D should be decided from the start instead of switching halfway through.
Tbh, I'd wish the other themes had more unique stuff for themselves just like the 3D World style. They're unique as they are, but still feel somewhat samey.
disagreed, although, most of the SMM2 levels I designed were just a bunch of spikes and coins placed randomly in the SMB3 style so I can't really say much
I’m glad someone finally covers the editor because in most clickbait Mario Maker 3D trailers the player literally just drags a 3d object onscreen and it’s somehow right where they want it
As a modder of both Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario 3D World, I do think 3D is still impossible even with the ideas you mentioned. At most I can somewhat see a Mario 64 version but no more then that, the other games have way to much detail in the 3D models and there are so many things that just wouldn’t work. Using blocks could only go so far, and how would you make planets that didn’t aren’t just extremely blocky, or yet how would materials work? Or even Gravity work? You know how complicated gravity is to set up?!Every “bean” in the Galaxy games have 3 different extremely precise Gravity areas, and even if Nintendo made say a BeanGravityArea, all the beans would just look the same as they can’t be modelled out to be unique. Not to mention all the other issues not related to models. How would launch star paths work? Just setting them up in SMG is a pain and getting Bézier curves to do what the player wants would be really tricky, and not to mention, the game would have to have ViewGroupAreas made by the game which is also pretty impossible to do sadly. Even the most basic things, such as adding a Boss Fight, would be a nightmare. How would Meowser even work? If he used the 3D World version, you would need a huge tower and it would just feel like the original game, if they turned the Mario Maker 2 variant into 3D and used that, it would literally be the most depressing boss fight ever as it would just stay there. Mario Maker and Mario Maker 2 are already very limited as making an editor that people who never have done level design before would be hella hard, and locking it into 2D makes that concept so much easier. If people really want a Mario Maker 3D, just use Mario Builder 64, or better yet , actually mod the game, it’s more fun that way instead of wanting a Mario Maker 3D which if somehow ever got made it would be horrid and all we would have a million flip-panel and beat block levels with grass blocks.
Yeah, you could do a super basic version but it would be missing *a lot*. I mean, SMM is already missing a bunch of features, but at least all the fundamentals are there.
0:02 They’re not really haters. They just think it would be less easy to use than the 2D Version. It’s not impossible but it’s just too complicated. People wouldn’t know how to make 3D levels because they are so used to designing 2D levels.
So? When Mario Maker 1 came out, people didn't know how to make 2D levels, and NOW look at what people are doing. It would just be Mario Maker 1 all over again.

TH-cam introduced me to this channel by downloading this video to my phone - and it rocks. New subscriber gained, I look forward to what you put out next!
You'd only really need one style for a 3D game. The different 2D styles all represented advancements in the game engine, from 8 bit, (SMB) to expanded 8 bit (SMB3) to 16 bit (SMW) to 64 bit (NSMBU), and 3DW being a conversion of an original 3D game. So the graphics (sprites, etc.) and sound effects were vastly different from game to game. With the 3D games, from Sunshine up, it's all 64 bit, and the same basic graphics; it's just the objects (backgrounds, items, etc.) that are different. So you could have one style, and just choose which items to represent whichever game. Like you could make either flat groumd, or the little worldlets for the Galaxys, the different scenes of Odyssey, etc. the Fludd pack or other specific powerups. Havng one style with all those selections would probably take up less data space than separate styles. The only 3D game with different graphics is 64, which was the early polygon graphics, and with this new 64 Builder out now, we already have that.
what are you even talking about? there is *nothing* shared between SMB and SMB3, or 3 and World, or World and NSMB. the physics are radically different in some very fundamental ways, and it shows in SMM because the edge cases are just plain wrong.
@@keiyakins I don't get what _you're_ talking about. I didn't say there was anything shared between those 2D games you mentioned; I quite to the contrary said how they're completely different game engines that look totally different, while 3D games (with the exception of Mario64) had similar looking graphics.
@@Celestewashere08 3D Mario maker means they will lose sales on the real 3D Mario game for Switch. Also Super Mario Maker 2 didn't sell as well as Nintendo was hoping.
I think for the text it should be like Dark Souls / Elden Ring where you have phrases and words to mix and match messages such as: "Beware, X is below" and X can be "Bottomless Pit", "Enemy", or "Treasure" for instance
You forget the Most important reason for why it probably will never happen. Do you know how profitable 3D Mario Games are & how much a 3D Mario Maker risks cutting those profits if it ever happened. 2D Mario was at a temporary dead end when Mario Maker was released & it took a decade for Nintendo to come up with Wonder after the New Series Games ended. I see Kaze being hired to make a New Super Mario 64 game by Nintendo as more likely than a full 3D Mario Maker.
Dude MM2 underperformed according to Nintendo, that's why they killed it after a while. Believe it or not, but people are more likely to buy a new, quality, original Mario game rather than a level builder of inconsistent levels and samey visuals. It worked with 2D Mario just fine, don't see why a 3D one would be any different.
I think they’ll be fine if they just add Mario 64 and just focus on adding more items and enemies to the 2D. This way they can still market it as 3D without much risk
Its the switching between styles for me. If this were to work it would have to be like switching between NSMBU and 3D World where everything resets. You can't switch between Sunshine and Odyssey because they have very different mechanics.
I don't see editing in 3d be hard. I see it being pretty hard to render compared to 2d Mario Maker. 2d Mario Maker already downgraded a lot of sprites, and NSMBU completely got spritified.
1. The level edit should use isometric grade. 2. The stages SHOULD be platarfom based like 3D Mario land/World This Will be better than a openword 64 style game
i think it would be a great idea to add a "advanced building mode" for pro builders where you could import 3D models and add custom scripts and music to your level, and there could be some pre-made scripts so there will be lots of amazing levels.
They’ve already made a 3D game creator with Game Builder Garage. I think what’s seen in the video is a very Mario Maker style thing to do, and is a simplified fun experience. Game Builder Garage is a lot harder to get into, and the way boxes layer over each other in the X and Y axis can make it harder to make it harder to see.
This video reminded of when i had an idea to make a mariokart maker. Basically you make the design of the map by drawing it out like a minimap. After finishing the map u can go in and just move some parts of the road up and down to make it 3d and also replace some parts of the map with premade assets such as a booster with a mushroom pad. Then like how the 3d mario maker works in this video you can add objects around the map. Sorry if this doesnt make sense (i wrote this while pulling an all nighter)
I'd like a super mario galaxy maker cuz with only one theme u dont have to worry of some features and u can even add another type of editor 4 certain blocks or enemies like in fall guys creative mode. There could be 8 types of items: planets, platforms, gizoms, power ups, enemies, barriers, decorations, starting point/star/checkpoints
I can see an editor working, but allowing players to change styles is a different beast entirely. The mechanical differences in 3D Mario games makes the differences in 2D Mario games laughably minor - spin and wall jumps, seriously? Even the 3D World style was still mostly a 2D game control-wise. If I were to guess, the game would have a set 3D style, controlling and looking similarly to Bowser's Fury, with power-ups and features "borrowed" from the different games, but still designed around those set 3D controls.
"The mechanical differences in 3D Mario games makes the differences in 2D Mario games laughably minor - spin and wall jumps" what differences? the only ones I've played are Super Mario Galaxy and a teeny tiny bit of Super Mario Odyssey and I've watched Super Mario 64 (and played a bit with an emulator because I got the controller a while ago) and I think they basically are all the same, and would totally compare spin and wall jumps to the changes
Ok, speaking for us, the "haters" of a Mario Maker 3D. Since saying why it's not a good idea doesn't convince you guys, I'm going to give some examples. (And if you don't think I know what I'm talking about, I have played all 2D and 3D Mario's, a lot of Mario 64 and Mario World hack roms and probably more Mario Maker than you) Imagine trying to find a hidden block in a random place of the map with a key in a 3D level, imagine fighting a hundred random enemies in a 3D level, imagine a really big maze in a 3D level, imagine water levels in 3D, imagine just how BAD the camera would be in a 3D Mario Maker, imagine doing a "no skip" run on the endless mode and having to play a really bad level in which you have to find not just a flagpole, but seven different horribly made stars, imagine trying to make a level and not being able to draw it with the touch screen, imagine not having a time-limit and letting people create infinitely long and infinitely boring courses, imagine the limitations and simplifications Nintendo would have to include to make it accessible, for it not to be a bug-fest and for the game to not take seven years of development, (and for the game to run without burning your switch 2 tbh). These are just a few examples. If half of the Mario Maker 1 and 2 courses are bad, in a 3D game it would be more like 85 percent, and the ones that are good would be worse than the good 2D Mario Maker courses, because they would be a lot more repetitive, sometimes "more" is less. There are a LOT of platformers about making your own courses in 2D, there are really few 3D ones, there is a reason for that. And for god's sake, don't compare kids making levels with them playing Minecraft, as if playing a survival and making a house is as hard as game design.
Have you considered that all of those negatives you've mentioned already exist in 2D, And it hasnt affected anyone's overwhelmingly positive view on mario maker? And the video compared the EASE of making levels in 3D to building in minecraft, no one said kids are automatically geniuses at level design, but as i said, that's a thing in 2D already! the argument "childrens' creations will become so much worse than they already are in 2D makes no sense.
@@SawBSketch Yes, I did consider it, and my point stands. It is true that SOME of the points also apply in 2D, but the would be magnified by a thousand in 3D. For example, if you hide a key in a small space in 2D you have, let's say, 10 places where you can jump to find it, in 3D there would be 100 places without making the space any bigger. I could talk about other points, but you can read again my comment if you want. And like I said before, SOME of the points also don't apply. The camera, the difficulty to make levels or the limitations it would need to establish to make it run in the first place are still valid points (and there are more but I don't want to list everything again). Also, with the Minecraft point you make I agree, it is dumb to criticize what he said about Minecraft. But it is also dumb to make the Minecraft point in the first place, so I don't care.
@@elpozolero777 Yea IDK I could see it working out but I definitely get why you'd be skeptical, not to mention it'd be a gigantic project to tackle for Nintendo just balancing the thing and making it accessible on its own
@@zoinksscoob5077 I mean, I get that the idea of a 3D Maker sounds really cool, but I think is really difficult to do. I don't think it's impossible, but just trying to think of how it would work probably would be at least some years of development without actually making much. Maker 1 was made almost by accident as a consequence of NSMB becoming so stale. It was a really safe bet, but I just think a 3D one probably won't even be worth it to do for Nintendo (even tho it would be cool)
0:58 so I am a kid and ive been making levels in mb64 and yea honestly it was easier for me to make good 3d levels then 2d levels mainly thanks to stars
I think the styles are really the biggest problem because while Nintendo could make new assets for games that don't have those things the mechanics of some games are very different, like Mario Odyssey and 3D World. There might even be a lot of issues for 64 and Galaxy or something like that. Sunshine probably wouldn't work at all. Aside from that I really like the ideas.
Adding on to this is that the original release trailer for the Mario Builder 64 ROM Hack got taken down by Nintendo (the hack itself is still available luckily), and it's become a bit of a meme where if Nintendo takes down a fan project they might be making something similar (It was about 2 years between the takedown of AM2R and the release of the official Metroid II remake on 3DS and about 4-5 years between the takedown of the original version of SMBX and the release of Super Mario Maker 1). This honestly gives me a bit of hope that Nintendo might be planning a 3D Super Mario Maker 3 for the Switch successor console.
By far the biggest reason Nintendo wouldn't make this is that people could make levels that rival the ones Nintendo would make. This would cause less sales in future Mario games
5:24 Personally, I think something even better than this would be to expand the Super Worlds concept to have chapter selects for levels if you choose, but win conditions per-level could be a variety of things just like regular Mario Maker 2, such as collecting all coins, defeating all of a certain enemy, getting all the moons/stars, getting a certain AMOUNT of moons/stars out of a total, and more.
One thing that is interesting to consider is the camera for 3d in editing being different from the camera in game, for the 2d Mario maker games it’s very easy to look at how the level will look while you’re making it because you look at it from the same angle, but for 3d it’s a lot harder to get an idea how the level will actually be like when you’re playing in the middle of making it, you mentioned the comparison to Minecraft and in that game you create with the same controls you play with which I’d say probably adds to its ease of use.
I think a cool feature would be if you could spawn in a player at your cursor to test sections without needing to play the level proper, so you can test areas before you finish
I have a few very niche issues, but mainly just the way the camera and placement works in what you described, but other than that good job at laying out a foundation for it(I already was on board but still useful to have a pre-existing idea)
Its kinda true, but i feel like a Mario Maker 3D will never happen since they can just recreate 3D Games level and Nintendo will lose money, they can already do it in SMM but it's 2D and Nintendo knows 2D is kinda bad nowadays
I think for 64land, entities and blocks could be on a lattice to streamline everything, but you could also have platforms and props that can be rotated, scaled and placed freely, like little islands for that special 3d platformer feel. But Blockland levels could be bound to the lattice completely in exchange for more professional and fancy looking levels and fancy mechanics similar to mm2 making use of Mario Land levels as more advanced than basic new smb levels.
I feel like people are forgetting that map editors in games used to be super common. When I was 10 I was making skate parks in THPS2 and a few years after that I was making maps in Timesplitters 2. These tools used to be COMMON. Now they don't exist like, anywhere and people assume the young audience just couldn't figure it out, but they'd be wrong.
i loved mario maker when i first played the 1st because i could play it on my ds and play it anywhere. that made me happy. in mario maker 2 i loved it because i thought it was cool seeing all of the new features but with sprites for the OG mario game ( Super Mario Bros. )
It's a lovely playground of a level, but to people trying that stage for the first time, there could be a clear path to follow for collecting red coins & more lenient timing on some of the challenges (avg player just barely clears on 1st attempt, as opposed to someone with knowledge on how to clear just barely makes it).
great video ontop of including the creation of the level you made .. my only concern is how they would get the level to maintain the same when switching through the other styles of the games provided like MM2, hopefully they don't go with the "this style will erase everything" approach.
1:04 honestly what stopping them from just oding exactly that? when you enter build mode just put the player into first person and build freely just like minecraft creative mode edit 1: if transitioning to a different game style like from 2d to 3d is too hard they could always just do a major update for SMM2 and then release SMM3 as a 3d only version
I love how most people’s complaints about this is basically *think of the children* 😢 when literally the most popular games in Gen Z to Gen alpha have some form of building mechanics (Minecraft and Fortnite I mean)
Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts had vehicle creation, Little Big Planet had straight up game creation (A platformer game? No, a platform FOR games) so honestly, not that surprised that a Mario Maker 3D could potentially work.
There's an algorithm ( more a technique than an algorithm ), called sine wave function collapse, in a nutshell let's say you placed a water block surrounded by ground, the algorithm automatically will pick a model based on the situation, for instance you can have a grassy theme and water connects in a small shore, but then you have a jungle theme and it connects through mud, kinda like Minecraft fences but much more complex, you only need to worry about placing the base layer, all the flare and models to make it look right are picked automatically, paired with simple grid-snapped props like bushes, fences or ramps, ans you get yourself a very robust system to make levels, in fact Dota 2 editor used this exact technique to make higher up places have more decor, not to mention Super Mario 3D world is very blocky if you think about it.
I don’t think Mario oddysey would work simply cause everything is to round and it would look weird if everything was square. A game like Mario 3D world however could work as it is more blocky and cartoony.
ive been hoping for a 3D mario maker for so long, it would be so awesome to have. I hope Nintendo makes it happen some day, judging by the releases I'd expect something after the next console release, whenever that happens. (not another switch re-release, a whole new console)
I don’t think it’s possible (sadly) because most of the 3D games are too recent and unique (compared to the 2D games). Nintendo likes $$$, and they’d make more bread by keeping the 3D games independent. This forces to people to buy more of their games. You can see this is in practice by how Nintendo designed the 3D World game-mode as 2D. The two are completely different, incentivising customers to by both Mario Maker 2 and 3D World.
Honestly, I could see it working. Nintendo would have to handle it delicately and ensure that the 2D editor still works. Nonetheless, I have seen Mario Builder 64 before and have wanted to get my hands on it myself. It looks fun!
This Is A Really Cool Idea But I'd Rather It Be A Mode Instead Of The Full Game Maybe Make 3D World And 3 More 3D Styles So We Can Have 2D: SMB, SMB3, SMW, NSMBU 3D: SM3DW, SM64, SMG, SMO (Those Are The Themes I'd Put)
i get that its possible but its probably a little complicated for nintendo's target demographic, would take longer because there is a third dimension and basically any way to simplify the building would just make it really limiting. the only thing i can see it working is if it was something closer to old fortnite creative where there are plenty of simple options for the less advanced players but many more complicated tools to make better stuff for the more experienced players. also, themes arent just a hurdle because of the objects, the way bigger issue is the physics. they basically have to redo most physics engines entirely to make it meet modern standards while not being identical to the other styles. also, the resetting between styles is basically guaranteed as almost every 3d mario game has drastically different artsyles and enemies and making all those 3d models just takes up even more time, unlike in the previous games where there was only those for nsmbu which already mostly existed and those for 3d world which was seperate and didnt have to carry over between themes anyway TL;DR just too much work and time for nintendo to even consider making
Im sure at least one of you have heard of this but theres this semi obscure roblox game called robot 64 with a simple 3D editor, i feel like mario maker 3D should work similarly
I think most levels will not be as good as these games, if they even would be good It's harder to make 3d levels in general and there will be restrictions on levels
Honestly I still prefer Mario maker 3 is 2d because since the maker mode isn’t 2d you can’t draw blocks with your finger you just place on block at a time like Minecraft and that would make level making very boring and time consuming I would rather 2d level making and Mario makes 3 is too early for this Nintendo has to master 2d Mario maker before moving on to 3d

Mario Maker does not make every style control like NSMBU.
@@cube2fox but they all control basically the same, and not like how they did in the originals
@@tzarg That's not true
@@cube2fox But Mario still controls differently than he does in the original games. The physics aren't 1:1 the same across game styles, but they're more similar.
Is not being able to switch to 3D world in the middle of building your level really the worst thing about Mario Maker 2? I don't know about everyone else, but before I even start building a level I generally have a general idea of what I want the level to be like which will generally determine which game mode it will be from the very beginning.
I was also thinking that lol. I 100% agree with you.
They're unique as they are, but still feel somewhat samey.
disagreed, although, most of the SMM2 levels I designed were just a bunch of spikes and coins placed randomly in the SMB3 style so I can't really say much
I’m glad someone finally covers the editor because in most clickbait Mario Maker 3D trailers the player literally just drags a 3d object onscreen and it’s somehow right where they want it
It’s not clickbait it’s just a concept.

A old 3D freegame I played many years ago, called "Turbo Lode", also used this kind of level editor, it's really easy to make 3D levels with that!
0:02 They’re not really haters. They just think it would be less easy to use than the 2D Version. It’s not impossible but it’s just too complicated. People wouldn’t know how to make 3D levels because they are so used to designing 2D levels.

The issue isn't that it can't work from a design or technological stance, the issue is that Nintendo would not do that.
Why not? It doesnt seem too bad
@@Celestewashere08 3D Mario maker means they will lose sales on the real 3D Mario game for Switch. Also Super Mario Maker 2 didn't sell as well as Nintendo was hoping.

“…maybe a 3rd bowser on top of the second and first would make this level good”
I think for the text it should be like Dark Souls / Elden Ring where you have phrases and words to mix and match messages such as: "Beware, X is below" and X can be "Bottomless Pit", "Enemy", or "Treasure" for instance
For signs and NPCs, you could also just implement a sensor that automatically blocks inappropriate words and an AI translator for cross region sharing
This is countered with the fact they made a mario maker 2 but made another 2d mario game after it came out
Dude MM2 underperformed according to Nintendo, that's why they killed it after a while.
People who think it’s impossible should play Disney Infinity.
Not me
literally forgot about that lol
Its the switching between styles for me. If this were to work it would have to be like switching between NSMBU and 3D World where everything resets. You can't switch between Sunshine and Odyssey because they have very different mechanics.
I don't see editing in 3d be hard. I see it being pretty hard to render compared to 2d Mario Maker. 2d Mario Maker already downgraded a lot of sprites, and NSMBU completely got spritified.
1. The level edit should use isometric grade.
2. The stages SHOULD be platarfom based like 3D Mario land/World
This Will be better than a openword 64 style game
Arrowstotle Maker 3D Deluxe U Switch Lite will be back the best game over.
i think it would be a great idea to add a "advanced building mode" for pro builders where you could import 3D models and add custom scripts and music to your level, and there could be some pre-made scripts so there will be lots of amazing levels.
@@wyattmoore6897 Import 3D models ? Nah they'd never do that, there would be too much possibility to import inappropriate stuff.
how are you gonna implement custom models, music, and scripts into a switch without some shenanigans involved?
Nintendo would never do that though
Sorry if this doesnt make sense (i wrote this while pulling an all nighter)
that's cool actually in my opinion, and maybe you'd be able to elevate certain pieces of ground with like a sort-of vacuum button to make hills
Arrowstotle Maker 3D Deluxe U Switch Lite will be the best game ever.
A Mario Maker 3D game (actually made by Nintendo) would be very interesting. Also, Arrowstotle Maker 3D Deluxe Switch Lite will be the best game ever.
(And if you don't think I know what I'm talking about, I have played all 2D and 3D Mario's, a lot of Mario 64 and Mario World hack roms and probably more Mario Maker than you)
Imagine trying to find a hidden block in a random place of the map with a key in a 3D level, imagine fighting a hundred random enemies in a 3D level, imagine a really big maze in a 3D level, imagine water levels in 3D, imagine just how BAD the camera would be in a 3D Mario Maker, imagine doing a "no skip" run on the endless mode and having to play a really bad level in which you have to find not just a flagpole, but seven different horribly made stars, imagine trying to make a level and not being able to draw it with the touch screen, imagine not having a time-limit and letting people create infinitely long and infinitely boring courses, imagine the limitations and simplifications Nintendo would have to include to make it accessible, for it not to be a bug-fest and for the game to not take seven years of development, (and for the game to run without burning your switch 2 tbh).
That’s a cool level! I do have a question unrelated question though: Why are you currently streaming past videos on a loop?

And now we wait for Nintendo to see this
I think it would be better if you can like choose easy 3d or hard 3d editing
I think the styles are really the biggest problem because while Nintendo could make new assets for games that don't have those things the mechanics of some games are very different, like Mario Odyssey and 3D World.
There might even be a lot of issues for 64 and Galaxy or something like that. Sunshine probably wouldn't work at all. Aside from that I really like the ideas.
Getting 3d bosses that would be sick
It’s not the building part that’s impossible, it’s the playing part
I love how you demonstrated the ease of making flaming hot garbage levels.
1:33 I swear I've seen this scene before
BLUE TELEVISION GAMES I KNEW IT WOULD BE IN IT
1:36 BTG!!!
By far the biggest reason Nintendo wouldn't make this is that people could make levels that rival the ones Nintendo would make. This would cause less sales in future Mario games
... no they couldn't. Anything remotely accessible would be *incredibly* limited.
Most difficult thing would be sloped terrain. They could do it with a painter of some kind but they'd still need to limit it in some way
They could also have global leader boards for how many stars you have
One thing that is interesting to consider is the camera for 3d in editing being different from the camera in game, for the 2d Mario maker games it’s very easy to look at how the level will look while you’re making it because you look at it from the same angle, but for 3d it’s a lot harder to get an idea how the level will actually be like when you’re playing in the middle of making it, you mentioned the comparison to Minecraft and in that game you create with the same controls you play with which I’d say probably adds to its ease of use.
Yep, I know that one Mario 64 builder game.
I don't think it would work very well unless it was heavily simplified, with even less options than the first mario Maker, but in a 3d space
It would be hard for 5 years old to play it.
4:00 GORDON FREEMAN?????
I like this idea but I’m pretty sure Nintendo wouldn’t ever make it and even if they would it definitely wouldn’t be as cool
Its kinda true, but i feel like a Mario Maker 3D will never happen since they can just recreate 3D Games level and Nintendo will lose money, they can already do it in SMM but it's 2D and Nintendo knows 2D is kinda bad nowadays
this take is so bad because mario wonder is a thing
Who the hell is buying new 3D mario games just for the basic terrain of the level
Now they don't exist like, anywhere and people assume the young audience just couldn't figure it out, but they'd be wrong.
i loved mario maker when i first played the 1st because i could play it on my ds and play it anywhere. that made me happy. in mario maker 2 i loved it because i thought it was cool seeing all of the new features but with sprites for the OG mario game ( Super Mario Bros. )
I would honestly really love to hear epic remixes of the levels while in build mode for Mario galaxy and 64
I learned blender at 11 years old so I think I can learn how to make a level in a 3d Level creator
Nintendo isn't making the game for you
11:04 i feel like you should be able to do it with the wing cap so you can get the star in 2 ways🙏🏼🔥
I love you version of Mario maker 3d, and your level looks fun I can’t wait to see the perfected version 🤩
If fall guys has a stage builder I don't see why not 3D Mario
dreams exists, i dont see why nintendo is not already working on it
1:04 honestly what stopping them from just oding exactly that? when you enter build mode just put the player into first person and build freely just like minecraft creative mode
edit 1: if transitioning to a different game style like from 2d to 3d is too hard they could always just do a major update for SMM2 and then release SMM3 as a 3d only version
I love how most people’s complaints about this is basically *think of the children* 😢 when literally the most popular games in Gen Z to Gen alpha have some form of building mechanics (Minecraft and Fortnite I mean)
yeah
Imagine they are working on it and this video has everything they added
I don’t think Mario oddysey would work simply cause everything is to round and it would look weird if everything was square. A game like Mario 3D world however could work as it is more blocky and cartoony.
ive been hoping for a 3D mario maker for so long, it would be so awesome to have. I hope Nintendo makes it happen some day, judging by the releases I'd expect something after the next console release, whenever that happens. (not another switch re-release, a whole new console)
For the next video on tips and tricks can you make it the legend of Zelda themed I mean like tips for the power up
I'm gonna call that stage cap chaos
I don’t think it’s possible (sadly) because most of the 3D games are too recent and unique (compared to the 2D games). Nintendo likes $$$, and they’d make more bread by keeping the 3D games independent. This forces to people to buy more of their games.
You can see this is in practice by how Nintendo designed the 3D World game-mode as 2D. The two are completely different, incentivising customers to by both Mario Maker 2 and 3D World.
kids don’t figure out minecraft they find the best player and follow what they do
I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo, if they make a 3d Mario maker, adds marching cubes (makes cubes smooth)
I would sink many many hours into this but, probably never going to happen or at least not anytime soon
Honestly, I could see it working. Nintendo would have to handle it delicately and ensure that the 2D editor still works. Nonetheless, I have seen Mario Builder 64 before and have wanted to get my hands on it myself. It looks fun!
This Is A Really Cool Idea
But I'd Rather It Be A Mode Instead Of The Full Game
Maybe Make 3D World And 3 More 3D Styles
So We Can Have
2D: SMB, SMB3, SMW, NSMBU
3D: SM3DW, SM64, SMG, SMO (Those Are The Themes I'd Put)
i get that its possible but its probably a little complicated for nintendo's target demographic, would take longer because there is a third dimension and basically any way to simplify the building would just make it really limiting. the only thing i can see it working is if it was something closer to old fortnite creative where there are plenty of simple options for the less advanced players but many more complicated tools to make better stuff for the more experienced players. also, themes arent just a hurdle because of the objects, the way bigger issue is the physics. they basically have to redo most physics engines entirely to make it meet modern standards while not being identical to the other styles. also, the resetting between styles is basically guaranteed as almost every 3d mario game has drastically different artsyles and enemies and making all those 3d models just takes up even more time, unlike in the previous games where there was only those for nsmbu which already mostly existed and those for 3d world which was seperate and didnt have to carry over between themes anyway
TL;DR just too much work and time for nintendo to even consider making

What if Nintendo makes it a limited game. (Edit: I just realized that would make people mad)

It's harder to make 3d levels in general and there will be restrictions on levels
I personally think SMM3D is going to come out on the next console, as SMM1 came out on the Wii U, and SMM2 came out on the Switch.
