I'm gonna try this ASAP. I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and I recently injured my shoulder that was always very loose to begin with. Now it keeps subluxating when I walk a lot, causing severe pain. I bought the KT brand Tape for the purpose of keeping the glenohumeral joint more stable. I hope it works. It didn't help for my back since it made it even stiffer, causing more muscle spasms. I've have 4 spinal fusions in my lumbar spine. Update: It helped my shoulder! It even helped my back a little where it attaches to the spine.
Same! cEDSer here! My right shoulder is permanently dislocated, and the KT tape does help keep it from shifting and crunching around when I’m doing things like carrying a bag, or running. It’s literally a godsenddd.
@@bee1411 does this method help keep the shoulder more stable (and hopefully but less pain)? Daughter has just been diagnosed with hEDS and her shoulder is constantly sublaxing, so trying to find best method to help her.
The tape actually doesn't pull equally to both ends once applied. It will always pull more toward the first anchor point that you put down. So depending on if you want to facilitate or relax you'll put the first anchor point down at either the insertion point or origin.
This is working great for me - thanks for the clear instructions. I've had a weaker left shoulder since a bike accident a few years ago, and this helps support and prevent cracking/mild dislocations of the shoulder during long runs.

God help me i am 27 and just had my second labrum repair surgery with ac joint bone shaving and suture attached to my CC joint. I just got ordered out of my sling and my delts are atrophic as hell. I retore my labrum after four months last time. I hate wearing this sling and pt is starting to hurt.
my latest diagnosis from my doctor is that one of the muscles attached to my shoulder blades is causing my pain and popping. Should I use this shoulder application or another one?

Hi! I've undergone a bankart repair surgery (8 months ago) due to the fact that my right shoulder got dislocated 3 times over a 1-1½ year period. After the surgery I received months and months of training at a physiotherapist to increase the movement the shoulder. Now I'm wondering if I'm ever going to able to do sports again, especially weightlifting and running track, without further damaging or dislocating my shoulder again. Would the tape help or something entirely else?
So can you do multiple shoulder tapings at once? IE Shoulder stabilize as well as AC joint sprain? I have shredded and retracted Rotator cuff from military service, need Reverse shoulder replacement but not till the VA is ready.. until then I'm going to try to use the KT Tape to stabilize the shoulder SO, can I do multiple tapings at once?
I had an open biecp tendonesis surgery in October of 2013. The long tendon of my bicep was cut then re-attached with a plastic screw into my humerus. I am having pain when I make an overhead throwing motion. I play baseball still, but I have nowhere near the arm power I had before my injury. What taping method will work best for me? Thanks!
Is there a rationale for going insertion to origin or vice versa? I have heard of RIO and FOI as a mnemonic for facilitation and relaxation, but it doesn't seem to make sense if the tape pulls equally on both ends once applied.
I experience a burning sort of pain along the medial border of the scapula, I'm wondering if taping with KT tape will help and what sort of application you might suggest? The pain only manifests if I'm extending my arms a lot, reaching over my head to get things, preparing and chopping food, mopping or vacuming floors etc.
My boyfriend was shot in the shoulder when he was stationed in Iraq. The location is about where the therapist laid down the last bit of purple tape. His Humvee hit by an i.e.d. as well and rolled several times. As a result of these he has issues with his shoulder 'catching' from time to time. His arm movement is limited and not fluid when this happens. Does anyone think that this might help him?
Kinesio tape is not completely proven, but people have seen benefits in reducing inflammation and increasing range of motion. This may help him, but going to a therapist for mobility work and reducing inflammation will provide much more benefit.
He is in therapy and I make him do very light range of motion exercises daily. My thinking was that this might provide help on days when his shoulder is just bound and determined it's not going to cooperate.
Are you referring to this AC joint? This is where Chris is pointing in the video: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acromioclavicular_joint#/media/File:Shoulder_joint.svg
Hi I have shoulders that have dropped down and rotated forward. Apparently the muscles between my Rhomboid muscles (in centre of back) are weak) As well as trying to strengthen these muscles, I need to try to hold my shoulders up and rotated backwards. Can this taping help or is there another you can recommend. Thanks
This isn’t going to achieve anything if you have an unstable shoulder. 90% of glenohumeral joint dislocations are in an anterior direction and this taping method doesn’t even cross the joint. Might look fancy but complete waste of time and tape 😂

KT Tape duct tape works better
Great solution to something ive suffered with for years
It may help some. One of the great things about the tape is its versatility. Give it a try and let us know.

*Strong rotator cuff = shoulder stability - just do the exercise in **_Treat Your Own Rotator Cuff_** for the most stability.*
You can combine them. It doesn't matter which you do first.
Nice Helpful video i would tell everybody to watch this
Gracias buen hombre
Totally needed this from some post table tennis

Does KT still do this service.? Calling with specific results for my pain
Is it works in scapular dyskinesis
Coulda done that a lot better for what the goal was. Also.. make a video where we can do it solo

How durable is the KT tape when exercising? For example, if someone broke a good sweat, will the tape hold or fall right off due to the moisture?
it will stay on your skin but do not put tape on when you are wet or sweaty
Hi, Will this tape force gently my shoulders back so my seating posture improved or keep my back straight while I am seating??
will this taping be useful for a posterioinferior labrum tear of the left shoulder?
Can I use the tape for a frozen shoulder? Thanks
Looks like his son tho
Would you say this is the best way to tape for winging shoulder blades? Or is there other ways to tape them?

Trying this for refractory snapping scapula syndrome.
Kristina Huffman Did it work? i have snapping scapula syndrome too

nice back dude
Can you combine this with the rotator cuff application? Or the general shoulder application? If so, does it matter which application goes on first?
I experience a burning sort of pain along the medial border of the scapula, I'm wondering if taping with KT tape will help and what sort of application you might suggest? The pain only manifests if I'm extending my arms a lot, reaching over my head to get things, preparing and chopping food, mopping or vacuming floors etc.
You have serratus anterior weakness cauing medial and inferior border winging. Work on lower traps and serratus strength. It might go away then
Does this help for scapula pains or strains?
what about applying on my latissimus dorsi? thanks.

Please use this as a guide to applying on pain points of the latissimus dorsi.
@@KTTapevideos Thank you! If I am unable to apply 1 hour before sport can I apply the night before? Or is the hour important?
@@danielhearne-potton7710 We definitely recommend applying within the hour before your physical activity for the best results!
will this work if you have snapping scapula syndrome?
Mackenzie Hartrum give it a try...25% stretch for pain...70-80% stretch for joint lock
So do you follow the RIO and FOI model?
how is that going to stabilize the shoulder it doesn't even cross the glenohumeral joint?
Brant Bermudez It is stabilizing the scapula. It would be useful for scapulae that wing out or protract.
Yeah this is not going to help me with instability
Did i mention i tore BOTH LABRUMS ALL THE WAY POSTERIOR TO ANTERIOR I AM IN PAIN
Benjamin Reyes did you ever see an orthopedic surgeon? Lol
