    In this video I install and review a billet catch can on a Dodge RAM 1500 HEMI 5.7L
    The catch can is very well made and install is fairly straight forward. The only thing I would change is to use better hoses instead of the ones provided. All hardware was included although I did need to add a couple washers to the bolt that mounts to the engine block otherwise the bolt was just a tiny bit too long.
    I will review what the catch can catches over several intervals to see how effective it is so subscribe and check back for more videos.

    Just got mine put in. I appreciate these videos for reference points. Got it off ebay $109 or something came pre assembled with continental hoses that are precut, needed 2 washers, but that was it. Make sure your valve is closed!! 👍

    I purchased this same can after watching the video. Install took 15 minutes. $60 ebay. Money well spent. My truck is a new 17' with 2K miles on it now and the PCV already is coated with oil. This should help keep that active intake system working good and my throttle body cleaner. Plan to run this truck till the wheels fall off. Running Amsoil in it too. Thanks for the good video. Its spot on as he says.

    Great video, thanks for sharing. Might consider Teflon tape for the brass fittings and maybe some anti-seize on the can threads so it's easier to take off to empty.

    • @BoostedMotorsports
      @BoostedMotorsports  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Humbabah both great tips! I didn't have teflon tape on hand but want to see how it does out of the box. Won't be high pressure so hopefully should be alright! The threads on the can seem very smooth and the rubber o-ring seals it. Time will tell but I'll keep everyone updated on how it does!

    i got one from billet technology. paid a bit more but it came in a beautiful dark red anodizing, bracket was pre assembled, included hoses (black) were cut to length.
    they work surprisingly well, definitely worth it, especially with how cheap and easy to install it is.

    At the drain valve you can run a section of hose out of the bottom of the engine bay. It will make it easier and less of a mess to drain when it comes time. Just a suggestion. It was a great video man. Keep it up.

    I'm really glad I got a catch can for my Ram. After a week of normal driving, there was a substantial amount of oil in it. I'm sure you'll really like it too. Love the channel and all the videos, man! Also, we're you ever able to find LED reverse bulbs that worked for your truck?

    • @BoostedMotorsports
      @BoostedMotorsports  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Chris! I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for what this thing traps! I haven't messed with the LED reverse again yet, there is the Sylvania ZEVO brand that apparently don't throw an error but they also are not even as bright as the factory halogens so it is a bit pointless. I'll hopefully come up with something shortly. Thanks again for the support and lots more videos on the way! Posting every other day now!

  • @TheBasstead1
    @TheBasstead1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just tore down my 2009 Ram hemi 5.7 and she had been sucking oil into the intake. I'm assuming the PCV system was trash. I'm going to install a catch can as a warning/preventative measure on my rebuild. After 113000 miles my engine had about 1/16 inch of carbon on the piston heads. I imagine a piece of that carbon or pieces could break off, wedge between the rings and start causing problems in high mileage.

    When I click on this link it takes me to a page with one that I could buy. When I scroll down it shows a photo of an installed unit. It looks like the hoses are routed different than the ones routed in this video. It is a different engine, but my point is that the hose that is going to the back by the pcv valve is the other hose than what you did in the video. So, it makes me wonder if it matters which hose goes where or ???

    @boostedmotorsports: Ive been having misfire codes going off and recently ive had the truck taken in for a dry and wet compression test. They said that the motor is loosing compression down towards the lower part of the motor near the crank case. i have a 2010 ram 5.7 hemi. My question is am i going to have to completely remove the motor and take it apart to inspect each piston and all their compression and oil rings??? And if the motor is loosing enough compression to throw off a misfire code am i going to need to replace any pistons or even have some fabrication work done to any of the cylinder walls???

      Thanks Peter! I actually bought one for the Viper but haven't installed it yet. I probably won't get to that install until summer but it will be something I'll be posting once I get to it!

    I like that price, is it excellent quality as the original Billet Technology version? Hopefully it's as good and maybe even better. A commentor on BEASTproject video says this isn't necessary on the hemi due to it having MPI or Multi Port Injection ( super old technology) which is the injector being on top of the valves. The fuel sprays over the valves on the way into being ignited. So, the fuel washes the injectors. He says it is necessary on DI direct injection engines. I know we all want what's best for our Ram truck but sometimes I think there are scams that really aren't worthwhile. Check it out. I've realized I have to do so much research asking lots of different people just to find the bottom line. Thanks for the good video though. Without people like you, especially when they don't give instructions, others would be lost. What brand is yours and is it available on Amazon now for 45 dollars? I'm still in the process of learning if this is a good thing for the 2019 Ram 5.7L hemi with e-torque or not. Thank you

    • @BoostedMotorsports
      @BoostedMotorsports  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Michael it shouldn't matter on the height as I've seen them mounted in all different places under the hood before. Just make sure you check it regularly so that it doesnt start sucking crap into your engine when it gets full.

      No issues on mine so far! Did yours overfill or what happened?

    • @downsouthtv4616
      @downsouthtv4616 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      nowhere near overfilling. where one of the fittings screws into the can, it was leaking out (i think only when i was getting on it and the oil pressure was high). I emailed Matt at Moe's Performance and he told me to unscrew the fitting and put some teflon tape around the threads to stop the leak. so far so good but i haven't been getting on it to be careful. i think the glue or whatever they put around the threads was bad because it came off when i unscrewed it to put the teflon tape on.

      Did you double check which hose is going to what? I'm wondering if maybe you have them on the wrong ports?

    • @downsouthtv4616
      @downsouthtv4616 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      BoostedMotorsports yes they are going to the correct ones. But I also heard that it doesn't matter which hose goes to each fitting because either way it is just flowing through it. At least for billet technology's catch can.

    You don't say what yours this is good for I have a 2005 so the engine is not the same, it is a 5.7 Hemi V8 but can I still do this?? do I still need to do this for my year? please let me know thanks.

    • @BoostedMotorsports
      @BoostedMotorsports  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Fred. This will fit all the 5.7L hemi engines and is recommended for all of them. They all spit a lot of oil back into the intake. Check out the other video I made on how much oil this thing caught in only 1 tank of gas.

    Hey @boostedmotorsports which side goes to the engine and which side goes to the pcv valve?

    • @BoostedMotorsports
      @BoostedMotorsports  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Double check in my vid but pretty sure the lines cross. The one closest to the rad goes to the back of the engine and the port towards the back of the engine goes towards the throttle body.

    • @kparada4
      @kparada4 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      BoostedMotorsports I think my internal filter sides may be reversed from yours. So the internal filter where it drops into the can goes from the throttle body, and the internal filter where it picks up from the can goes to the pcv valve?

      When you install your can, I could not determine which side of the can goes where. Inside the can there is a piece that drops down and on the other side it does not. How do you know which side of the can goes to which port on the engine??
