Sorry but 2 years with no pay and no guaranteed job at the end is literally slavery. She’s a college graduate, not a student. So to have her intern for 2 years is slavery, not an internship.
I understand, but the typical intern is not that stupid to work for free for two years. The problem with Hannah Horvath is that she NEVER made the effort to look for an actual paid position because she grew comfortable with parents supporting her and not having real expectations and deliverables from her bosses as an intern.
The guy in the series is an asshole, but he was right: "Figuring it out when she gets hungry enough" was exactly what happened. He is exploiting 20-somethings with a college degrees and parents able and willing to financially support them, and he knows exactly that this is what he is doing.
I guess in a way I'm glad I'm in the profession I am in, because at least I can support myself and can pay the day to day bills. At some point, it's just embarrasing to ask for money from your parents.
I get what he means though, when I traveled to a different country going to mcdonalds was awesome, it reminded me of home and was something I understood completely. Kind of comforting.
This irritates the crap outta me. The entitlement displayed. Not a darn thing wrong working McDonalds. I had a college degree and worked cleaning dog kennels at a get office CUZ YA GOTTA PAY YER BILLS
@@Boobalopbop of course I could have. But in 1990 we were in a recession and what my degree was in wasn't hiring. So u do what u gotta do which was my point

The show shone a light on a very common (and in my opinion, criminal) practice that happened to this generation. Companies hire college students as “interns” have them working full time with no pay. It’s literally slavery. And look at what happens? She worked there free for 2 years AFTER graduating and when she dares to ask for a job, it’s bye bye! Because he can have another desperate recent graduate in there by morning. And no disrespect, but I doubt that Hannah’s parents would have accepted her cleaning dog kennels or working in McDonald’s after paying maybe $100,000 on her education.

This kind of existence is so foreign to me. Im an artist a writer also, but I've been on my own since I was 16. I haven't had a bit of help. This is pretty much exactly what it's like for a young creative re: the internship thing

Not every country is that fortunate
Hannah has no shame
We don't have a McDonalds in Nigeria...

Chicken Republic and Mr. Bigg's.
Wait, seriously?!
Ray has an excellent point regarding McDonald's. Wherever you are in the world, it tastes the same. Unreal!!! Lol.
Not really McDonald’s has different menu for different countries

Why get a college degree to clean dog kennels? You could have done that with no degree.

If a guy ignores you like that 0:57, get the fuck out of there
Yeah unless I'm in school I'll work whatever job available
why would any company keep an intern on for a year just to let them go and not hire them?
Mr. Herkabe.

Is she meant to be likeable? I stopped asking for money when i was 16.
no, she is not meant to be likeable. she is meant to be real. a lot of people in real life are like her
Good for you. You are better than all of us.
She wrote a character that is narcissistic entitled and flawed. She is a good writer. If you liked her she would be a bad writer.
I started working at 14, as should everyone.
