    I got one of the early units, it looks like there’s a few changes they made since then. One thing I didn’t like was not having enough adjustability on the ankle pad up/down. In a personal training setting I had people in between 2 of the 3 adjustments. I ended up drilling 2 more holes for the pop pin to latch onto.

      I’ve noticed that they keep changing the design as time goes on in a few of their units. It’s good that they do that instead of just pumping out the product as is. I haven’t needed to have the extra settings as you’ve mentioned but I do see how they would be good. Might consider doing that if needed

    Another great review, Jay! So ready to see the Prime Fitness Prodigy HLP Selectorized Rack vs. Functional Trainer comparison! Any hints as to when we might expect it?

      They have a lot of good pieces but I was looking for 1. Multi use 2. Versatility The smart strength aspect of Prime Fitness expands the usability of their machines.

      Yeah I have 2 sets but there really isn’t a good use for them. 25 and a 10 makes more sense to me. Cost wise as well

    They should make a plastic thing at the entrance of the seat slots or whatever you called it so it's more stable.

    • @jaycruz.threefold
      @jaycruz.threefold  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is some UHMD plastic there but it need to be just a few millimeters thicker to make it snug. It’s pretty stable once you’re locked in

    Why did you not consider the weight stack version? Was it because of the weight limit that you can put on the machine? Usually the weight stack ones are more stable than the plate loaded version of most machines on the market i believe?

    • @jaycruz.threefold
      @jaycruz.threefold  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I did consider it but I had so many of the silver Rogue plates it didn’t make sense to pay the extra for the selectorized version. For multiple clients the selectorized is probably better. Once you use the machine a few times it levels off just fine. Also, the weight limit on the stack was a consideration. Most people won’t max it out though

    I like this concept of being able to change the resistance profile. Have you tried plates on position 2 and 3 together or would that make it like position 1?

    • @jaycruz.threefold
      @jaycruz.threefold  ปีที่แล้ว

      It still works with different combinations. The drop off is a little less in different combinations but position 2 and 3 end up being mostly the same as position 1.

  • @Docmcfly233
    @Docmcfly233 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Is it worth the price currently at around $4500… I can afford it but idk if it is worth and maybe I should just buy a cheap selectorized option, my total gym has cost 5000 this would basically double my spending in one purchase. I have limited space so I have no machines or cables at the moment.

    • @jaycruz.threefold
      @jaycruz.threefold  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you’re questioning it, than I’d say go with a different option. If you’re looking for cheaper but still good and with multiple uses, EliteFTS makes a leg curl/extension combo that you can also use bands on as well as do seal rows on

    • @Docmcfly233
      @Docmcfly233 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have issues with low back from auto accident. I avoid heavy squats/deadlift, I need something that can hit legs with no stress on low back and not do 25+ reps. This seems to have best force curve. The one you mentioned is like the cheapo ones with no tension at the bottom of movement. Also I was going to do legpress/hacksquat/pendulum squat/ but I like leg ext/curl because it puts little stress on ankles and knees. I need to figure out if it’s worth the space. This machine seems bulletproof and durable and it’s the only one that fits my needs perfectly. But price for function (only does two things) makes me hesitant. Do you have an aff link for prime?

    With the way that the ankle pad attaches (single attachment point), other machines have a ton of flex. Does the ankle pad flex on this one?

    • @jaycruz.threefold
      @jaycruz.threefold  ปีที่แล้ว

      It flexes just a little. Maybe 1/4”. I agree that the center attached pads have less wiggle but unless the cable is coming from directly below the lever they will all have some kind of very slight imbalance

    What’s the lead time on their products? I don’t think it’s ideal for home gym but nice if you did have a commercial gym.

  • @ottawafrank
    @ottawafrank ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Some plate loaded machine really fall short on the "weight profile", as in there is very little resistance at the bottom of the leg extension and then its very heavy at the top. Do you feel like the prime with its 3 weight horns fixes this issue for both the leg extension and leg curl? Does the resistance feel as good as on a dedicated cable+weight stack machine?

    • @jaycruz.threefold
      @jaycruz.threefold  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you place the weight at different positions the weight profile does change a lot. If your reps are slow and controlled the the variances are perfect. If you’re trying to speed through the reps the weight feels weightless in the different positions for different ranges of motion. It works, as long as you’re working out correctly. Paced movement is what works best

    Would you go with this one or the hybrid unit with the selectorized stack after having this one? Also, what’s the widest and longest measurement of this one?

    • @jaycruz.threefold
      @jaycruz.threefold  ปีที่แล้ว

      I might actually choose to go with the selectorized. The convenience is unmatched for a selectorized. As long as you’re using it right outgrowing it would be pretty difficult.

      @@jaycruz.threefold the selectorized hybrid is def what I’m leaning toward. It seems to have a bit smaller of a footprint too. I have room for one more machine in my garage and it may be it. I bet the lead time for a selectorized would be crazy long though

      Once you’re on it and once you put weight on it, it’s fine. I might unload the weight and see if I can loosen the bolts to hep it settle. It could possibly be how it meets the floor where it’s placed. Maybe my floor is crooked. 🤷‍♂️ Thanks for the watch and support!

      @@jaycruz.threefold Super helpful video! Now I know I should get some 35s, and that it's possible to dismantle the machine (my gym will be on the 3rd floor of my house).
