Test drove this and the 1.6T Kona. Ended up with the Kona. Better value I think.

Encouraging you to use the other hand when opening a door helps you to check for cyclists as you twist your body. It's actually part of the Dutch driving test.

You know what? Those door handles might be a safety feature. Reaching across with your opposite hand forces you to turn your head so you're more likely to see cyclists coming up next to you. The ol' Dutch Reach.

Using your opposite hand to open the door saves you taking out cyclists and is taught in Scandanavia. It forces you to look before opening. Great review guys.

Just picked up the hybrid Countryman & I'm loving it, MINI won't tell you this but it's actually quicker than the JCW to 100kmh.

No manual transmission makes it a no go for one who likes to be more engaged with the driving.
+TheStraightPipes This one gave me an idea: I'm a US guy but I grew up on some Canadian programming, remember "You Can't Do That On Television" ??? (maybe you don't because I might be a little older) but they did this thing called the Opposite Skits, look it up. Anyhow, every so often you two should unexpectedly switch roles.

This new gen is a massive improvement over the previous version in terms of looks and perceived interior quality. In saying that the Mk2 Clubman is IMO, the best looking one after the 3 door hatch. It is so well proportioned compared to the 5 door and the aforementioned Countryman

Thomas Frank I would say the Stinger its more value for the money more powerful looks amazing and practical that’s all you need

Been watching you guys for over a year now, trying to decide what I wanted when I had no boundaries for cross-shopping other than price. I seriously got so close to a Q5, A5 sportback, AllRoad, Stinger GT2, and Stelvio at different points. Then I found this MINI 2 weeks ago and came back here to watch your review. Bought a Countryman S ALL4 with JCW package (unfortunately not the engine; couldn't find one) yesterday! Thanks, guys! Looking forward to continuing to watch all of your videos even though my car search is done. (for now! Haha)

Thanks for the video. I was just suggesting ‘smaller’ cars this weekend ... I hadn’t considered this a a possible recommendation. But after watching your video... the regular Mini might worth ‘thinking’ about... well at least a Test Drive. Thanks again.
If your careful with the application of options they can be quite affordable and they usually have much better colour options than other manufacturers.
My concern about recommending the Mini was that “I’ve heard” that 100% of the automatic transmissions have failed or will fail. The individual (that I was assisting) cannot drive a manual ... sadly. Aside from that I don’t think you could find anyone who doesn’t like the Mini’s unique style. I love them.

With the door handles, you turn your hand to the outside and push with your elbow to get the door open. Pretty comfortable

I think the countryman feels the same size as the cooper in the back but just a bit taller
Fun fact, if you have a sequential you can flip the shift lever and shift the other way around, might be a setting, might be dependant on the trans manufacturer

You can change the angle of the Heads Up Display through the radio settings. Tall people friendly.
I could see the bench being useful when you need to put your ski boots on in the parking lot.

This does have a digital speed read out within the analogue speedo.
Head up display is adjustable for height and rake, so taller drivers can read it without difficulty

For the door handle you have to use the opposite hand so you check backwards and see if a car is coming. The Aston Martin said so.

As always the most entertaining car reviewers on TH-cam! There's just this focus/sharpness issue in a lot of the scenes when the camera is directed towards you that is a bit disappointing. Apart from this your videos are probably the most professionally produced car reviews on TH-cam!
I'm tall and find the head up display is perfect in my Cooper JCW. You can actually change the angle of it in the options on the infotainment.

Amazing little car. This version is really bigger than the previous one. In Brazil we receive only automatic version for them. Sad but true.

This being Petrol driven is probably really responsive and fun. Though personally I m not too keen on the Countryman here in India because one only gets a Diesel version - and Mini + Diesel just does not gel at all.

I have a 2013 Paceman Cooper S ALL4 its a great car but on run flats it is barely tolerable it is bone jarring stiff on Canadian roads (Alberta). I changed them over as they don't last 20K KM. Once i changed the tires the car was much more tolerable. It is a blast in the snow and in the winter but you have to be realistic as to what it is. It has been reliable so far and good gas mileage. When you bump into another mini driver it's always a wave and nod to appreciate that you bought something different than the boring normal....

FYI, in the US, the. Mini JCW speedo shows race flags at 120 MPH, roughly equivalent to 200 KPH (at 9:50).
I’ve had my mini for 2 years and still turn the scroll whee the wrong way at first..... it does NOT make sense...
If you hold the interior led color switcher thing for about 5 seconds or so, it will flash. Then the color will be rainbow

Not fast, nowhere near as many options, (the seats in the Mini are incredible) but as a mini SUV, the Mazda CX3. It's slow, yet fun to drive but my favorite characteristic of the beast, it sounds like a small angry dog when you accelerate. Funny as anything, brings a smile to your face and will save one a big bit of money. I've always thought it was the ideal car for Mazda to turbo, ...sigh. They don't.

You use the opposite hand so you do the Dutch check every time i.e. checking for cars behind you in your blind spot (I'm guessing)
Actually it will coast in neutral while using cruise control going downhill while in green mode
Best mini ever! I wish I had one but they're so expensive. And besides that's a better crossover than the rest of those bland crossovers lol
it is the better X1/X2. and cheaper too once you add all the options to te BMWs. This little guy doesn't need very much, if any add-on doodads. And, the most important, it can have 3 pedals.
Damn I can't imagine a bigger mini. In the whole video I couldn't perceive it as a big crossover. I would need to see it beside a normal mini to get it.
