Seen a few of your reviews now John. This one felt like a 'coming of age' moment. Super professional review, good comments, and a fresh new trim! Gone from good reviews to great. Keep it up mate!
Good review. Very good reviewer! Don't lose him, 'Chasing Cars'. As for the Mini Countryman. Love the car but not the ridiculous price. A working class lad like me will need to win the lotto before I can afford this. Maybe a 2nd hand, late model will fit the budget?
Bought a countryman in 2019 and absolutely love it. Perfect car for a young family, big interior, small exterior. Powerful engine, and we get a ton of compliments too.
@@alyssawilson8085 still liking it yes for sure! There was something that needed adjusting with the engine Mount, but it was covered under warranty and easy to for them to replace. Wasn’t a big inconvenience at all. Other than that, no issues whatsoever. Have driven about 65,000km in it. Spacious boot has made carting a pram for the little one around really easy
we bought one of these about 2 months ago and LOVE IT! The Sport Mode is F"IN CRAZY! we are very happy with it. Upgraded from a 2002 Mini Cooper S that we purchased new and finally died after 145k miles. This new JCW is from a completely different world and it's so much fun to drive. we love it. We'll definitely drive it for 19 years too if we can. :)
Just bought a Cooper S Boardwalk auto for the wife’s birthday, one of only 325 in the World! Goes like stink and she is so pleased. Great car and goes very well with my R53 Cooper S and my six other cars. The only problem is that I saw a Paddy Hopkirk limited edition in the showroom, only 100 of them in the UK and so I envisage another addition to the fleet coming soon. 😂
love the mini but also needed a bigger car so I went for what I believe is the best option - kept the 1st gen hatch, which is IMO the purest mini gocart experience and bought the new X1 for practicality. best of both worlds. the X1 drives really well too, same platform as the countryman.
Saw one of these in the metal for the first time yesterday. It did have a bit of a moment turning right on a wet roundabout trying to zoom off a bit too quickly. Look like they'll be fine on sweeping roads, but the height led to roll and a bit of weight shift on sharp left, right, left. Looks quick in a straight line.
So great to see how the Countryman that I ordered 3 weeks ago will look like inside and out. Exact copy! (Will be a hybrid though). Realy nice review. Not the last time I watch this video. :)
I want them to do a self charging hybrid or electrically assisted power, and have sat nav on the screen front of the steering wheel like vw…. to be perfect
Owning a 2018 CM and relatively loaded, seeing a review of a $70K+ AUD JCW version I can already tell a few options missing like the sport seats with thigh support, not sure if this is the dual power seats with driver memory, no rear center armrest option, no fog lights. It just boggles me how BMW/Mini still leave out features on top end models :(
Does anyone else think they should just get rid of the circular infotainment if they aren't gonna have a circular touch screen....just looks forced and odd
Great review! I love the uniqueness of MINI vehicles. Could you please review the 2021 clubman JCW? I would love to know how they compare to each other. Thanks in advance!
I had an old mini in the 70s paid $400 for it. plus i drove a mini panel or clubman van for work at times, it was great. But now i read the warranty is not good and reliability of electric's maybe a problem. but like other cars who knows the problem you face.
Own the 2019 model... drive a lot harsher than BMW X1, perhaps due to its harder suspension JCW setup. Brake is a bit unpredictable at low speed. Overall is a good ownership. Do I love it? Yes. Regret buying it? Not really. But I would think I should get the new Benz A35 AMG now...
way more expensive, for a sedan and same hp? not worth it and 100% sure its not nearly as fun. but indeed if you think the countryman was too sporty the mercedes will feel more cushy and confortable for cruising
You mention kilowatts like it’s a hybrid. What does a measurement for electricity have to do with a petrol engine? I’ve never heard this kind of measurement used to describe horsepower.
The cluster design is just poor & lazy. Feels like they did not bother integrating the cluter with the rest of the car. They went shopping, found a nice round display and planted it in front of the driver seat lol
Room for Ponch’s coconut water LOL 😝- I question this category of SUV as BMW Clubman and Countryman niches are just a step too far when the designers have failed to make anything other than the 3 door look any good from a styling perspective and add the twee heavy handed German interpretation on UK style it leaves me cold after having owned 2 Cooper S cabrios - all style and zero substance, suspect reliability and hugely inflated local prices = a firm nice to drive briefly no thanks in terms of owning one. A VW Golf R in mk7.5 or mk8 form would show this car up in any comparison and the wagon variants would have superior practicality. BMW needs to realise a 2.0 ICE Mini is a travesty from what Issigonis intended with the original and until they capture that in a new model these variants will always be a shrine to excess rather than design imho
Actually, it's closer to the BMW 2 Series that is available in Europe than to the X1 or X2. Ground clearance and height of BMW 2 Series and Countryman are the same. The hatchback is the Clubman
We have a 2011 mini, the worse car in the world , we haven't reach 105000 kilometres and already thousands of dollars on repairs,,, i wont sell it bcoz i do not want anyone to feel the pain we feel everyday, looking at the piece of rubbish on our driveway.
All Mini’s are made in Oxford which is in Britain 🇬🇧 not Germany..... the company is only owned by Germans.....🤨 all the workers are British that actually make the cars...
Well mine is already 3 years old, the extras make that car expensive;) u double the price easily. The only thing I wish it would have the split back door like the clubman i had before. When u have a dog it’s not perfect. Mine never tried to jump out, but could happen.

Ordered my 2022 JCW Countryman. Cannot wait.

I'm keen to hear an update. How's the JCW 9 months on ?
145k is not alot of mileage for it to die...was it the gearbox or engine that went kaput?
It now has lane assist (officially called drive assist) in new MINI Yours package.
Hi please can you review the 2023 hybrid countryman ? Thank you 🙏
When I saw the video, I was like "OH, another video on the old countryman" and then I recognized the new exterior !! Love it
Yep! New one.

The Mini Countryman sits in the small SUV range, is actually longer and wider than a Suzuki Vitara!!
I really like the quality of the reviews that you guys give. Carry on!
For a second I thought Jared from Silicon Valley was reviewing cars , just for a second! Nice review anyways
I am buying a new 2023 JCW Countryman this week. Can't wait.
ALWAYS AND FOREVER BETTER THAN MUCH OTHER CARS!!!!!!!!
Fantastic reviewer! Great job!
Shhhhhh.......its Skyline Rd out near Eildon Victoria.....its fabulous on a bike! Well chosen. Nice review too, Ive been enjoying your stuff lately.
Thanks Mark - you're right, it's a fantastic road. Have ridden it on the pushbike too!
Excellent review John. I would love to know what your favourite road is that you drove for this review! I don't think I've been there
I love the looks of MCM JCW, but the price is way too high for what you get. I would rather wait for the Tiguan R or Tucson R
Can be fun to drive, but there are a lot of problems such as electrical, clutch, and coil problems.
£ 40 grand is a lot of dosh . I think I paid £25 quid for my first second hand mini , and under a thousand for my 1275 GT . Those were the days .

Hard Top JCW is the way to go Mini Ace review

actualy, the default jcw comes free of charge in the countryman jcw, the seat he has in the demo is the lounge seat, which cost like 3k AUD.
R53 is easily the best MINI that BMW will ever make. Never selling
my thought as well. 1st gen ftw
It's one of the Lake Eildon targa stage roads. Do I win a handclap?
Does anyone else think they should just get rid of the circular infotainment if they aren't gonna have a circular touch screen....just looks forced and odd
Same price in india, 70000 dollars. It’s import model. In USA it’s just 30k. An used mini is 30k in india around 8 years old model.
Great review! I love the uniqueness of MINI vehicles. Could you please review the 2021 clubman JCW? I would love to know how they compare to each other. Thanks in advance!
I've watched this review like 10 times now , sooo of course I'm going to get one. Great 👍review
Hope you enjoy it!

If I don’t have two kids, this is the car I will buy!
WHERE? Where is the EV-version? It would suit this version down to the ground but will we have to wait for the new generation for this to happen?
That inheritor and those seats to do not scream $71k.
Why the heck does the gauge have to be offset. Annoying for us ocd types.
Good review John.😃
The shifter is starting to show its age? Man, I must be way behind the times. I have 4 vehicles and the 2 that aren't stick, have column shifters lol
Is the sage green available on other models?
How does it stack up against the more expensive
GLA-AMG which also has 2.0L /225 kw engine?
I just drove the 2021 Cooper S version, and I think it’s a great compromise over the concern the Mini is getting on in age.

Definitely better than the X1!
This is my retirement gift. Need to wait another 10-12years. Eventually I will buy.
Your hair is on point!
not sure about the "bang and harman/kardon" stereo though :P the " bang" goes with the "olufsen" :D
You mention kilowatts like it’s a hybrid. What does a measurement for electricity have to do with a petrol engine? I’ve never heard this kind of measurement used to describe horsepower.
Kilowatts are a measurement of power, not a measurement of electricity. It is the metric equivalent of horsepower.
$71,000! WTF?
No, seriously?
It's taking the piss isn't it!🤣
Still that terrible sat nav cluster. Cannot get a nice analogue center Speedo.
Omg i love it!!😩😍😍 thats my dream car
Mimi too for now😉
Great review! Quick question. Does the rear sunroof open or is it fixed? After ORC, that's a mid, $80K vehicle!
It’s fixed
is it a car or SUV whats the different ?
Him mentioning how expensive the car is in Australia, me laughing in European prices 😂
Jcw signature in Italy starts at 47000 euros aka 73000 Aussie dollars, very funny, lmao
@@martinoramella8925 Yup, pretty similar across EU countries. Gotta love that co2 tax 😂
The cluster design is just poor & lazy. Feels like they did not bother integrating the cluter with the rest of the car. They went shopping, found a nice round display and planted it in front of the driver seat lol
I just bought one. Whoops 😀
I do like a car that breathes with the road
Nice review. Are the ‘matrix leds’ worth it?
Very nice car!
JCW come with sage green in australia?
Yep.
New SQ2 is way cheaper and not dissimilar
That road is in Victoria
Indeed

Genuinely good reviews. You see none of these on the road in the UK. Everyone buys Audi SUV's now lol
ENVE socks?
hmmm is it really an SUV though? I mean... its a hatchback.. let's call it a hatchback.
Its technically a SUV, its bigger than you think almost as high as a standard Range Rover.
It's a crossover. BMW X2 runs on the same platform as this one but people don't call that a hatchback😂
Actually, it's closer to the BMW 2 Series that is available in Europe than to the X1 or X2. Ground clearance and height of BMW 2 Series and Countryman are the same. The hatchback is the Clubman
Q-ute , but 15k too expensive
headlights still look too weird ........
$71,000 hahahahaha. That's insane.
No thank you.
20K overpriced... depreciation money pit...
Had mine 2 years in the uk and it’s lost 1k from new, so much so the garage are calling me asking to buy it back.
71k ok cya
SUPER Mini Countryman JCW!!!!!!!!!!!
The worst British car messing upping is MG by far, good cars but not British
Definitely not British
Not a big Car guy but what do you mean by "MG"?
Worst things been done to British car makers names? Any current MG...
