Just saw this movie and I love it. It is one of those where nothing happens and everything happens. I loved the little office conversations and the the other officesounds- water cooler, opening packages, silent elevator. It really captures how it feels to be in an environment like that- especially when you're young. So happy not to be there now

Those environments were toxic and unprofessional- because they could be; they had no accountability. I then switched to working in fields with little/no emotional attachment to the companies. I am so much happier and work on my interests on the side- since I now have the time and energy to do it!

Why make a good film, when you can get awards for portraying men as (alleged) evil "manspaliners", who (of course) are not good in their jobs. It's ludicrous...
That scene with Matthew Macfadyen was masterclass acting. Aside from that, there's no much else I can say about this movie. It could've easily be condensed into a great 30/40 minute short film instead of dragging out for 80 minutes.

I worked for the president of the company who was a total narcissist, and he couldn't stand my "betrayal" and disloyalty by not wanting to work for his toxic ass any longer. The joke was on him though, because I went straight to the unemployment office and filed a claim, and he had to pay for my unemployment for the next six months (I got an extension on purpose, lol). If he had let me quit as I had originally done, he wouldn't have been responsible for paying my unemployment. But he'd never had anyone quit before and he didn't know the rules. Most people were too afraid to quit.
*THIS IS REAL CORPORATE LIFE* This is a great movie💯. I loved every bit of it. It sure touched corporate life very swiftly. It felt like there was no protagonist, so you wouldn't be able to guess what happens later on. It's realistic.

Everyone knows but they either don’t care or are too scared to say anything. As a woman in an entry level position at a big company full primarily of men, it’s extremely eerie.
She was great in ozark. Glad to see she can carry a movie. Huge career for her if she plays her cards right. This looks like a good start. Hope she stays away from any of the dreaded Hollywood remakes.

When Jane goes to HR to report her suspicions about the pretty new girl at the hotel, dealings with HR during my secretarial career flooded back. Within the hour, her co-workers and her boss knew she had been to visit HR. As my daughter used to tell me, who worked in HR, "HR is not your friend." That was a great takeaway for anyone who doesn't know that yet. As for Jane I was hoping she would take a stand and quit. But the reality is, she needs a job. She has goals. So she has to learn how to take it, absorb how things really are, blend in, assimilate, and as my friend Janie, a secretary to executives, used to tell me, "See it and don't see it."
If you haven't seen this film yet, I advise you to NOT watch the trailer. It really is a film that needs to be experienced moment by moment, without any prior knowledge of it whatsoever. I was lucky to see it purely that way. All the trailers will wreck that possible experience.

This movie was amazing, I'm pretty sure not all the people are going to like it, but for someone like me, this movie was kind of my life, it really reminded me with my old job with a telecom company, not that the boss was fooling around like in this movie, but the whole stress you get when you work on such company. The way other teammates treat you at first (with their inside joks), The way they dress with their fancy cloths, The way they through the ugly work on you The way they help you out against the big wolf, The way the boss treats you like shit and makes your life miserable in a way that you start to hate your life and you feel you are not worthy, The way every single call from him is like a warning call like your life depends on it if you don't answer the correct answer and please his ego you get the threat of being expelled, The way they force you to lie and be the bad person, The way that they make you feel you need to do better since you are not doing enough. The way sometimes you have to act like a bad person. The way that you have to carry the company secrets and everything wrong with it. The way you have to do works that has nothing to do with your real job like cleaning or working other extra works, The way that you can't fix whats going on and there is no HR to rely into or to complain to, HR is just a mask for the company. The way that the boss has no life so he expect you give up on your life too with long hour on the office. The way you lie to your family and pretend your job is good. The long hours and anxiety all the time with no time left to live your life. you can't even enjoy life anymore or eat property, every single day is the same. You dream was to to change the life and make it better but at the end you find out that the life changed and you become just like any other sad person in the world. So I Quit my job, I oppose to work during weekend and after working hours. whats the point of having money and buying 55" TV if you can't enjoy watching a movie and have not time for it? a lot of people get sucked into their job and lose the real goal which is living your life. now I make less than x5 times than what I used too but at least now I can live my own life and leave the stress behind. it was one of the best decision I've ever made. The amazing thing about this movie, it captured all above points without mentioning it.

This is a good movie. But don't expect melodrama or action. Don't expect a standard plot. There is character development and "plot" progression sort of, but the "plot" is more like the audience slowly understands what the protagonist's situation is and her thoughts in each moment. Don't expect a big climax or resolution, or grand reveal. Watch it on a quiet, gray day. It will not make your heart beat fast, but it should get under your skin in a subtle way. I recommend seeing it without knowing or expecting/wanting anything. Enjoy the sounds, the visuals There is tension, but it's in the details. The details are what makes this movie good, because it's all spot on. If you get it, you get it. If you don't get it, you will probably find the movie boring, because you will only see it for the overall message and mistakenly think "oh too obvious, why didn't they make it a short film" Don't focus on the one single "main problem" shown in the movie. When you watch, you have to see everything from the protagnist's perspective. All the little things add up. Treat this movie as an experience, not a puzzle (I don't mean turn your brain off lol, you need it on to empathize)

Don't you just hate when a trailer is so good that it becomes misleading. it makes the movie seem so interesting that you just have to take a chance and check it out. Only to be super disappointed. I think Julia Garner was the major selling point of this movie, and the trailer really pulled in the rest of the intrigue for the movie. Rotten tomatoes gave this movie a high score because it’s politically correct to do so. It’s about a powerful man abusing his power to take advantage of young woman. It immediately gets a high score, never mind that it is a completely boring ass movie that hits you over the head with its message. It’s like watching a PSA. I want my $5.99 back.
For ppl who are clueless on what this is about, looks like she is working in an environement where the normal social rules dont seem to apply, she is treated poorly and people in general seem to be okay with how person in power is treating other women. A lot of discrimination, hierarchial and gender based. Sadly this is the type of work culture that a lot of women in male dominant fields have to put up with. Looks good, captures the type of anxiety that such a work place can cause.

Julia Garner was impressive in Ozark. I'm glad she's finally getting the attention she deserves. She's in my opinion the younger Meryl Streep.

Don't focus on the one single "main problem" shown in the movie. When you watch, you have to see everything from the protagnist's perspective. All the little things add up. Treat this movie as an experience, not a puzzle (I don't mean turn your brain off lol, you need it on to empathize)
This actress is one of the most talented to walk into Hollywood. She’s fabulous in Ozark....I truly thought she was a local hired for movie
The trailer is way better than the movie. I’ve watched the movie and it’s not worth it, It’s the slowest movie ever. Those are literally the only scenes. I thought things would change til I saw it’s an hour into the movie and it’s the same routine. The thing you find out is the thing you already know. There’s no thriller, comedy, anything. It’s just nothing😂😫

Julia Garner was the best actor in Ozark, imho. Brilliant actress, I can see her being with us for a long time.
The film is not my cup of tea, but will certainly watch just to see and feel those nuanced expressions of hers.
The actress has a lugubrious demeanor portraying the character.
The movie is about a single day. That’s why she has the same outfit in all the scenes.

I just watched this movie and I have to say that is a strange movie but somehow it says a lot . I don't even know I could work at a such an irritating workplace. To suit somebody who doesn't appreciate your work....who screw you ... you fucked up something and the boss is literally killin you inside. To suit everybody at the workplace this is the hardest thing you do every fuckin day. This movie definately has the truth about workplaces. The boss is an idiot the colleagues are also idiots. This thinking me realise how I dont wanna work a place like this .....your whole spiritual world is fucked off. Thank God I love my job. I love what I'm doing.I know this is a movie but I just feel sorry for this poor girl. On her face you can see her hatred, the oppression, the exhaustion. She has to be quiet. She has to be polite and calm. She should not have an opinion. She does everything for her job she concretely licking her boss's ass. This is my opinion btw.
Do you think she wanted to talk to her dad a bit longer at the end? I felt like she tried to get a word or two in but he just kept saying to talk later -on the weekend.

Don't you just hate when a trailer is so good that it becomes misleading. it makes the movie seem so interesting that you just have to take a chance and check it out. Only to be super disappointed. I think Julia Garner was the major selling point of this movie, and the trailer really pulled in the rest of the intrigue for the movie. I feel it's a total waist when they put an amazing actor in a really crappie film. Oh well! I guess they all can't be Oscar contenders!

Rotten tomatoes gave this movie a high score because it’s politically correct to do so. It’s about a powerful man abusing his power to take advantage of young woman. It immediately gets a high score, never mind that it is a completely boring ass movie that hits you over the head with its message. It’s like watching a PSA. I want my $5.99 back.

For ppl who are clueless on what this is about, looks like she is working in an environement where the normal social rules dont seem to apply, she is treated poorly and people in general seem to be okay with how person in power is treating other women. A lot of discrimination, hierarchial and gender based. Sadly this is the type of work culture that a lot of women in male dominant fields have to put up with. Looks good, captures the type of anxiety that such a work place can cause.
