Hi Marco, thanks for your comments. For the last "quick printing process skipping from 0% to 100%" situation, it's the issue of the SD card.

@@Anet3DPrinter Why would anyone buying a brand new printer be expected to do that? Shouldn't it be the manufacturers responsibility to provide a good working SD card with a brand new printer? @@Anet3DPrinter It would be great for anet as a company to release a printer that actually work fine out of the box, it's biggest complain of Thomas Sanladerer, just make your printers work out of the box, if it's a know problem, put a note on the box or format the sdcards before shipping.

@@Anet3DPrinter He did transfer the files to a second SD card, which exhibited the behaviour of not doing anything yet going to 100%. The first card just got stuck. Both are firmware problems, as both cards were readable in a normal SD card reader. In addition, your firmware should detect the "skipping" issue, as it means it has read something it didn't consider to contain instructions. Do you have an official errata, including all the issues mentioned by Andres Roc? Do you have plans to fix them for newly manufactured printers?

Had my et4 pro for about 3 months and had similar issues I solved the lack of control from the standard firmware by flashing the motherboard to the “ non-stable” marlin using HL Modtech guidance it has transformed the calibration process and also allows much better cura optimisation I actually use the ender 3 profile as the start point for any prints. I should add this is my very first 3D printer and have no previous knowledge of such things! So if I can do it you experienced guys and gals should have no problem with the upgrade. Knowing what I know now I would have gone the creality route instead of Anet!!

I've got an Anet ET4 for a few weeks now, and it works amazingly. Got the same problem with auto leveling at first, but then I just leveled manually once and autoleveling worked perfectly after that. Anet should give better advice on that, or just prelevel all their printers before selling them so custumers can autolevel just when out of the box. For the rest of experience I've got with it afer that, everything cool!

hahaha, I have the same printer, it is very good actually. But it is tedious to deal with those bugs. The 0 degrees error will happen regardless of the GCode you are using. If you want to slice new models, try Cura using a Creality spec. To solve the temperature issue you most, go to pre-heat and literally press + and -, until temperature rises. The error you are experiencing is resolved by using a different SD-Card with a model sliced with Cura using the Creality specs. Once you solve those issues it is a really good printer. I forgot to mention the firmware update fails, that is why Anet provides a guide to flash the board if needed. The board is an Anet design and it is not using marlin or any known board. My overall review of this printer will be good for beginners cuz it teaches you how to troubleshoot and how does bad firmware and board behaves lol.

I have one of these and it worked straight out of the box. This is my first ever 3d printer, I should mention. Ok, so I levelled the bed manually as per the video on their site, then I ran auto level and that was it. So far I have not had to re-do that since Christmas. I took the recommended settings from the version of Cura included on the stick and put them into the latest Cura. I have had one failed print where the model came off the glass, but the black self adhesive bed cover cured that. I also take care to pre-heat and load the filament before printing. Mine just works. Now I'm happily churning models out on SolidWorks and printing them for my projects.

Been owning this printer for past 2 1/2 years now. Upgrades galore. Now its running Kipper with a buddy Raspi. And I have upgraded its hotend. It has held up quite well. No belt issues. The problem is that this is not a beginer printer though sold at beginner prices. You have to calibrate it well and that is not an easy job. Got rid of the inductive level sensor and using a bltouch. Replaced the glass bed with a PEI sheet etc. This printer suites a DIYer with some budget for upgrades over time. Its wiring is better than that of an Ender 3 , which is the one in its price range.
Ender 3 is what I suggest for beginers for this price range, given the immense amount of information and upgrade parts available.

The whole point of the original Anet A8 was that it was a bare metal, cheap kit that taught people, the hard way, how 3d printers work. It could be modded to get great results because there was was a massive community of hackers who got hold of it and improved it. I still use my (heavily modified) A8 and it taught me a lot but that stage is over now.

Don't leave that bottom open. I'll bet bucks that a small screwdriver or hex wrench will get knocked under there at some inopportune time. With that bottom off, you're begging them to jump up and come in contact with the live power wire when you reach under to get it.

  • @mikkokarna
    @mikkokarna 3 ปีที่แล้ว

It is starting to be pretty obvious that the quality varies a lot between Anet printers. I just bought mine blind with 150euro and on my way home started to see reviews. Almost turned around to return it, but then decided to see myself.
Same issue with nozzle touching the glass.. ok, propably installed and tested before adding the glass. Bottomed out the adjustment,
Retuned the switch, leveled bed.. all good.
Loaded filment, no problem.. started dog print from the sd card.. no problem. printed nicely with one strange area which i am pretty sure is caused by the z-axis groovewheels. they arrived tightened so propably are misformed.
But print quality otherwise was astounding for 150e printer.
Cura slicer had Anet et4 profile in it, tried some other prints with it and all were good, but all with that one small defect.
I am happy with what i got with 150euro, but if there is this much quality issues Anet needs to do something about it or stop making printers asap.

  • @tomwitman7465

No need for the Z end stop with ABL. Just putting G28 into the script with ABL tells the printer to move to 0,0 where the ABL probe is probing AIR. That's why it crashed horribly in to the bed.
You have to put G28 X=something Y=something to move it over the bed and the ABL can home.
Also, I think you should have put in the entire suggested script rather than flail around as you did. :)

If they actually had 3D printing evangelists working for them that had any kind of influence then these printers would work and they'd work really well. I also suspect that the 'Auto bed levelling' is more assisted bed levelling as in the tronXY XY 2-pro and it has to be manually levelled hence the adjusters under the bed. I had exactly the same rapid not printing but print finished message on the XY pro-2 after restarting a print dunno why. The XY2-pro doesn't care which Cura version I use but the version Tronxy supplies puts a little piccy of the model in the screen, Cura does not. Anet sent me an ET5 to review. Unfortunately, it had a bad bed leveling sensor, so it did exactly what yours did... drove the nozzle directly into the build plate. Your sensor may not actually be bad, though. It just might need to be recalibrated. There is an entire procedure for that. It's a little complicated, but nothing you can't handle. Mine was actually bad, though and needed to be replaced. Fortunately, they sent me a new one via express mail from China, so I was only down a little over a week. After I carefully calibrated the ABL sensor, I was able to manually level it, then perform repeatable Auto Bed Leveling. I'm pretty sure your printer has the same problem. Since it uses the ABL sensor to home the Z axis, it just does some strange things if the ABL sensor is giving the main board bad data.
It's a shame they are having these issues. After I got mine fixed, it appears to be a pretty solid unit.

Using the cover pieces to stop the bed from "sloshing" around during shipping.
LOL! I love the look on your face when you read the part about hot-gluing the connectors. (If you think about it, if the manufacturers do it, shouldn't the consumers?)
OMG!!!!! What kind of leveling is *that* ?!?!?! That sensor is sitting way too high. Should only be about 3mm above, not 10.
It looked like the instructions actually *do* say to adjust the sensor position.
That was an extreme disappointment. Live comments were right. The pre-sliced files did result in minor X and Y movements. Definitely problems processing G-Code.

Hi here, thanks for your comments.
When a new printer runs for the first time, it sometimes does smoke a little for a moment-as in the video(some oil from manufactuing or maybe a bit of moisture from the compound, PLA does absorb moisture, which can steam off in the hot end.).
But if your printer keeps smoking while running, please check whether the thermistor is connected properly.
Our Anet ET4 and ET5 series printers support thermal runaway protection to prevent overheating. So please feel free to use it.
      Thanks & best regards :)

I bought a clone of a anet a8 (image, a clone of a already bad machine) when i was young (like, 14/15 maybe? Im now 18) and cared more about the price than anything else.
    It. Was. Crap.
When i assembled it with my dad and tried to power it on: 🥁🥁🥁 aaand..... nothing, just nothing, well as you can imagine, i didnt like that, so i went to bed since it was already late and thought "i dont want do deal with this piece of 💩 right now. The next day, also nothing. The following day, without touching anything, it worked. Great. So i printed a benchy, and surprisingly, it turned out reasonable. So the following days it was running almost non stop. So one time it was running a pretty big print at night and it failed, big time. When i woke up the next morning, i woke up to a big blob of plastic, the printer was still "printing" (as scheduled) but that resulted in a fried motor, both, x y and extruder because the plastic had prevented the hotend from moving anywhere. So it was just pumping out plastic with the occasional layer stack. At that time i decided that the m3 nuts and bolts were more useful than the printer so i scrapped it. I am now the proud owner of a prusa i3 mk3s, and i cannot be happier.
Moral of the story: please, please stay away from very cheap printers. If you are starting out as a newbie. Invest a little bit more money in a slightly better printer, like a ender 3 or something, they are currently as expensive as that anet a8 back in 2014/15 but they are a lot better.

Sorry, can't help but laugh at the instructions. I just got a new Lian Li case for a new PC I ended up building. The case itself was "OK", but the Lian Li AIOC instructions were about what you see there. A list of parts, and the part numbers didn't correspond to the drawing. Lian Li isn't a slouch company, but the translation is horrid. I also got some RGB Fans with for more air flow, and that was literally a SINGLE page that just said "install fans, plug in cables". Yet they gave FAN and RGB Controllers...single page, all Chinese with like 2 word "translations". WOW...Then again, I'm sure I couldn't do any better translating English to Chinese....so...
