@@irisgilliard4955 Hello Iris. No, I am not a Steverson, although I would be proud to be one. You have a wonderful family. I am sorry to hear about your husband's accident. I'm enjoying this journey with the Duracell crew.
When your mum swing with the heavy.hammer and she hit that steel with out missing… I am impressed! Twice! Shy didn’t miss it and the weight as well. This is the mama what everyone wish to have!
Enjoying your rebuild projects but after this episode I must say that as a woman of a certain age I am so enjoying watching your mother show her skills and abilities. Well done her for getting stuck in too.
Mate I’m so impressed with your mum on the hammer If my mum was doing that I’d be repairing a large diameter hole in the deck Great episode, so much done Great teamwork
20 layers, that is amazing and super strong! That’s pretty cool how the family pitches in, it’s so great to be friends with your parents, love them dearly but also as close friends! La Paz really put that dog in her place, those dogs are so adorable!
Amazing how controlled and disciplined you all are doing this job knowing the time constraints.. What a nice team work, including the outstanding video work..
I have done a fair amount of small epoxy/ fiberglass repair jobs over the years and understand the basics. But watching you work on Duracell has really been a great learning experience to see the many time saving tricks that you demonstrate when doing layups on your boat. Thanks for sharing, guys!
Should we ever meet, remind me not to annoy your mum. Judging by the way she swings a club hammer she’s definitely not to be trifled with. 😂 That was a marathon layup and it looked plenty warm. Nice job guys! A belated Happy Mother’s Day. Cheers, R. 😎👍🍻
Nevermind the epoxy marathon…what was that soup? Squash? Looked yummy. Dogs will forever try to push the territorial limits with cats and ultimately suffer the consequences. Love this channel.
Mom and da are awesome! What a team you all make. “I’m heating the fasteners and my mom is knocking it out…”…what the…oh! Mom’s got serious pipes. Very fit! Happy Mother’s Day. Great episode
One off custom boats like Duracell are usually built over a male plug. When you get to the bow you overlap the sides of the hull laminates inside and out over a wide stem for ease of construction. Then the bow foam is glued on and shaped to the lines. Very common method in high end racing boats.
First, really looking forward to the chain plate project so that was a disappointment but I need to be patient. Second, the bow section did its job in the collision. Last, you had your mom working on Mother’s Day? Wow she’s a great mom.
To get more working time, i put epoxy on ice, helps big time on those big vac bag jobs. I take two mixing cups of the same size, i put ice 1/4 way full in one, mix up epoxy in the other, then set the epoxy cup inside the ice cup and tape them together with painters tape around the seem of the ice cup. Congrats on another big task done!
I am a product designer, but right now I am totally plugged (hahaha), on the issue of color for your boat. There is something beautiful and old fashioned about sailboats with blue hulls and white sails. Besides the idea of painting the hull in cobalt blue, I think the doghouse and cockpit area would look great in copper green, you know, the patina of copper, like the Statue of Liberty. It is a color that is very easy on the eye, and rather calming, so you allude to the original paint job on this boat, but with a twist. And if you do some studies, the combo of cobalt blue and oxidized copper may look very elegant, and full of content. Keep working, and keep posting! Et, voilá les suggestions pour la couleur: DURACELL COLOR COMBO SUGGESTIONS Hull: Pantone solid coated 2736 c Stern extension area: Pantone solid coated 301 c Pinstriping separating two tones of blue: Pantone solid coated 471 c Doghouse and cockpit (and maybe deck?) I completely understand, especially when you are immersed in solving structural issues. Speaking of structure, watching some TH-cam postings by Dick Beaumont from Kraken Yachts may provide valuable safety information for bluewater sailing, besides he is a fascinating person.
So glad to see you back this week. It wasn't the same without my weekly dose of Duracell. Keep Le pawz away from that fast setting epoxy Matt. You don't want that gelling on cats fur

Maybe a thin copper line (like pin-striping) separating the two tones of blue might work just to reaffirm the shape, but it has to be done just right, so it doesn't look weird. Good to see your mum and dad getting involved. Great progress on the traveller bulkhead. And nice to get a good look at the bow construction.
