Chris, I don’t know what your occupation was when you lived in Pennsylvania, but you seem to know how to do anything, building your cabin. You are saving loads of money. Good job that the two of you have done with this cabin.
One of my all time favorite TH-cam channels. Been watching since the beginning and never miss an episode. I'm blown away by how talented you both are. Not only do you know how to build an incredible house, with complex angles, etc (in freezing temperatures) but you know how to shoot an edit beautiful videos. I honestly think there's nothing you two can't do. You also have nice energy and a peaceful vibe. Thanks for sharing👍
As a cinematographer, I just wanted to point out how well you shoot your videos. Especially in this episode the closeups when Chris was on the roof installing the flashing in the dark. So hard to do. Very well done. All of your videos are very well edited. And no soundtrack is a huge plus in my book. So many channels get that wrong. By far my favorite channel on TH-cam.
We do our best! And you are right so much planning and research to do. This is our first full chimney install, learned quite a bit about it along the way.
I lived in Homer for 7 years, next time you go for a drive get a bagel sandwich at The Bagel Shop and a treat at Two Sisters! Hard work should be rewarded.
Thank you so much! 🙂 We will definitely stop by the bagel shop and grab a couple of those amazing cinnamon buns at two sisters. We really appreciate it!
I love watching what you guys do. It seems like there isn't anything you don't know how to do. And your attention to detail and passion for planning and making sure that it's done right the first time is legendary. Thanks for sharing these videos with us
Even though the stove is small it will greatly help keep it warmer. I bet y’all are excited as you get closer with each step to being able to live there. Congratulations.
My husband & I watch every video together, he's worked construction for 45 + years & is impressed at your knowledge Chris & what an awesome job you are both doing on your knew home. Keep up the great work & thank you for letting us share your journal.
You kids are doing a masterful job in building your home. Your attention to every detail is apparent and appreciated. Your home should outlive the strongest quake and nature's winds. Be well and the good Lord's blessings. That goes for Supervisor Benelli as well!
We have two of those stoves, one at our cabin and one at our house. They have served us well for many years. I have outside air intakes on both of them.
Thumb up on fresh air intake, people don't realise how much air those wood stoves take from air tight house, but not vented enough - causing verigo, headache, nausea or even more serious health problems in prolonged exposure to low oxygen air mix. Some real worls data: pound of wood takes 10-12 pounds of air to clean burn (1 pound of air is equal to 12 cuft or air) so it takes 120-150 cuft just to burn small piece of wood...
@ I always tell people the air going up the stove pipe has to come from somewhere. Many homes now are so airtight that running kitchen and bathroom fans will suck the smoke from the stove into the house.
@ where I live we get temperatures down to -45 F. I do have some ventilation, but I don’t want all the air that goes up the stove pipe coming through the house.
Nice chris, are they both Aspen Stoves? This is an older 1920 model. The newer ones are a c3 model, apparently more efficient and refined than ours. It's interesting watching the re-burn tubes work. Reminds me of a propane grill burner. Always a good idea to have an outside intake for a wood stove, especially in the north where we need air-tight homes. I want to eventually get a stove with a bigger firebox for a longer burn time. This one would heat the cabin easily if we fed it every few hours but I don't want to be tethered to constant tending. Once the vapor barrier is in I will hook up a temporary outside intake to the aspen in the meantime.
You two should get a "Masters of DIY" certificate from somewhere. The key -- which you have done throughout -- is to know what should be done when ... i.e., A before B, AB before C, ABC before D, etc etc, especially working your climate, and then doing each correctly. Great work and best wishes!
Never can express how good you two work together, I’ve been following your TH-cam channel for a long time and look forward to seeing you guys building your home….
So enjoyable watching two nice young people building their home. Completely understandable to use the small woodstove you were given by your folks for now, so glad you're going to be nice and warm. I'm so excited for you all. You two are very good with each other and appreciate very much following you, be safe. Prayers from California
You guys are amazing! What I don't understand though is...42K people "viewed" your video and 6K "liked"it.Why wouldn't everybody that viewed it,spend a second and hit the Like button? Makes no sense. Just my thoughts.
Thanks Richard! It would probably help the channel grow faster if more folks liked the videos. But we don't complain or ask for it, we are honestly happy with the great feedback comments and thankful to see so many people enjoying our videos. Thank you again for your support! It is greatly appreciated 👍👍
Chris, I really admire you for all of that high ladder work. I could never have done that. Thanks to both of you for sharing all of your experiences. I look forward to your next video. This is very exciting.
Bro, your attention to detail is on point. I haven’t seen a single thing I would do differently. It’s a first for me of all the build series I’ve watched on TH-cam. Great Job, living the dream.
You guys are a awesome team. Chris scares the daylight out of me, but he is so brave and does excellent construction. I love the stove. So cute and cleaned up so nice.
Awesome progress…. You two work so well together…. Excited to see the insulation!…. Glad Chris is done with roof work for a while… that was making me nervous….lol
Big fan of your videos. I love the fact that you take very great pride in the work you do. I always look forward to your next video. Keep up the great work. 👍🙂👍
You work very calmly, concentrated and precisely. Not like other TH-camrs who make things as quickly as possible! Greetings from Switzerland at -18 degrees😆
Now lights and heat provided, I am glad you managed to reach this point of the construction so the winter wont be able to stop the progress. Next insulation, electric, plumbing, flooring, painting and the bathroom, then furniture and all done. :) keep up the good work and the cool videos.
The stove doesn't look silly at all. Yes, I understand that it is too small for the space, but better the stove you have than no heat at all. I'm sure that it will at least take the edge off of the cold and make working inside far more comfortable. Coldness slows one down and it should contribute magnificently in helping you keep up a good healthy pace. A very wise decision in my opinion and as always, I am very impressed with the quality and general tidiness of the installation.
That is a really clean install! 👍 Having heat in there is a game changer. You’re right, get all your rough-ins complete before insulation because dense pack sucks to mess with later. Don’t forget all penetrations like dryer vent, range vent, plumbing vents, bath fan vents, and exterior electrical penetrations. Love the closing shot of the cabin with smoke coming out of the chimney and new snowfall. ❤️
Concrete or motor will cure much faster when you use hot water to mix it. But make sure if you do use hot water that it will be poured or put where it is needed quickly because it will set up much faster. Thanks for the update and have a wonderful day.
Good job with the forethought and planning. Saving space in the closet, the mess after insolation, and warmer work space; are all pluses. You may be surprised about the time and amount of heat you get from that little stove. Looks good.
You have come so far on your build. I’m glad you now have some heat while you work. Thank you so much for taking us along on your journey. I like that stove. Reminds me of our first wood stoves. Stay warm. Hope to see you again soon. Take care from Cape Cod✌️🇺🇸
Love this channel.
No crappy music, just the sounds of progress and beautiful outdoors.
Well done.
Chris, I don’t know what your occupation was when you lived in Pennsylvania, but you seem to know how to do anything, building your cabin. You are saving loads of money. Good job that the two of you have done with this cabin.
Katie mentioned in one of their earlier videos that she was a prison guard and Chris was a heavy equipment mechanic.
@@mamich08 I need to go back and watch the early videos
That chimney install was a Geometry class with all the sheet metal cuts and prep work. Excellent job.
❤

I hold my breath every time Chris climbs up on the roof. Great install on the wood stove!
.
Love how you thought ahead and got enough metal to fabricate what you needed. Really Giant step forward. Thanks for taking us along.
one of the best diy cabin building channels out there!!! Great team, work and information. Thank You for your expertise!!
Thanks for the content! Us old retired folks just don’t get to do these projects anymore, but we surely enjoy watching you do them!😊

It's really coming together and now to be able to work inside all winter is great.
I like the way you do things.

Beautiful scenery and I always love seeing the dog.
His a man with a plan and knows what he's doing. Like that. Blessings

You seem to have every step of the process well planned. And good and extensive planning is half of the job!!
We do our best! And you are right so much planning and research to do. This is our first full chimney install, learned quite a bit about it along the way.
Best cabin build channel on you tube. Craftsman quality everything Chris does.
Thanks Graham, really appreciate the kind words, and glad you are enjoying our cabin build with us!

🙂 You are welcome!
Really makes it so much nicer to work in cold weather .
For sure, it gets difficult when you can't feel your fingers and toes.
Kudos on excellent installation of the wood stove and chimney vent.
Thank you!
Chris, you do awesome work. Pleasure to watch. You are a patient perfectionist.
Thank you!
Красивая печь! Отличный дымоход! Красивая покраска!
Классное, интересное видео получилось! Мне очень понравилось! Круто Круто!!!👍👍
Great to have heat in your place and great details on how to install.
Yes, the wood heat is so good to have!
Great progress. Now with the stove installed, a warm work area. Can’t wait for spring.
Yes! Maybe an early spring!? 🙂
I love watching your progression. It will be worth the time invested.
❤️ Yes!
What a huge project accomplished! Speechless!👏👏👏👏
🙂❤️

I agree with the others that you are very good at what you do. It's like you have been doing it all your life. Another great video. Thanks guys 😊
Thank you!
I love the little wood stove because the key is keep your place warm and that is all that counts and think it will be a great wood stove for you
We hope so! 🙂🔥🔥

@ It's not thermally efficient, to heat something just to cool it by maintaining the heat source. :D

Yes it is James! 🙂🤝
So great to see the chimney go up and a wood stove in place! Nice work 👍
Thank you! It is a big step forward!

Awesome progress, such a huge milestone/checkpoint for you. You guys are amazing 🫶✌️

Great milestone reached. HEAT!!
Excellent work. You may think it’s small that stove but I think you’ll be surprised how much heat it’ll kick out. You kids are doing great.
Thank you! It does crank out some heat!
