    Really nice job of clearly explaining this unit. Best I've seen. I just purchased one for my shop, will be here tomorrow. Will be pairing this with a pair of KEF Q300's I bought 3 years ago and have been sitting in their box all this time. looking forward to powering this up and enjoying quality stereo music in the shop. hello guys. this amp would be perfect for those speakers. first, the Klipsch speakers are VERY bright, too bright for most. The Marantz amplifiers have a very smooth, warm, and very rich sound signature, which would mate really well with bright speakers. I think the NR1200 would roll off the high end quite well so that they are not fatiguing. This is a great question to ask because the synergy between speakers and amplifiers have a LOT to do with how they will sound. If you want something even better sounding, without the HDMI, look at the Marantz PM7000N. Much better power section, BIG torrodial transformer, and beefier aluminum rails to dissipate heat. It's a lot more amp for about $400 more. Let me know how it works out.

    Thanks for the review Audio Advice. I currently have a pair of B&W 603 speakers and was considering pairing it with a Marantz NR1200. In the review you mentioned the the B&W's. Would recommend the combo? And if not, which stereo receiver would be a good alternative with comparable features? I'd like a phono input, hmdi and tidal streaming and plenty of poke to power the 603's.

As this is my first AVR bought, as all my previous gears were mostly separate , CD player, a stereo amplifier, I would like to ask, is there any way I can do to boost the bass of this NR1200? Can I add in a power amp, stereo amp to pair with this NR1200?

    May I ask: What do the Preout jacks do ? I just got the "cousin" to the Marrantz unit - Denon DRA - 800H . I'm looking to connect my Audio -Technica TT (LP120X BT USB ), to both the Denon Phono connection using the Phono Preamp AND connect the TT to my Tascam CD Recorder in order to record CDs without having to switch connections form the Denon to the Tascam unit. I have a Schiit SAGA+ , mini Preamp - Switcher which has 5 inputs (all RCAs ) to 2 outputs. At present , I have my Tascam CD recorder sending digital out signals via a Toslink digital cable to the Denon (Wow - what a difference when playing CDs instead of via RCA connects ), directly. I also have 2 other pieces of equipment - Teac CD/ Cassette / USB player and a TEAC Dual Cassette deck connected to the SAGA+. Simply select which input you want on the SAGA , and it is set to send out puts 1) to the Denon and 2) to the Tascam CD recorder..... So, I could switch the connections from the TT to the Line inputs on the SAGA which would allow me to record CDs from the TT. But that would require disconnecting the TT from the Denon Phono connection and then connecting it to the SAGA+. Schiit Tech recommended connecting the Denon's Preouts to the SAGA+ , thus avoiding the switching the connections. The TT does have ability on the rear to switch from Phono or Line Out output. Bottomline: will this work ? And , kindly explain the purpose to the Preouts. I do have a Sub Woofer connected to 1 of the 2 Sub Preouts on the Denon. THX for any advice, much appreciated.

    • @ramondelgado6778
      @ramondelgado6778 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maxrider2887 No, the PM6006 has a toroidal transformer, has much thicker aluminum heat dissipation rails, and overall has a beefier amplifier section. However, no subwoofer output, outdated DAC, no networking functions, no radio tuner, and no HDMI switching. That being said, if you are not going to drive speakers that are not efficient or demanding with power, you will be just fine. You should wait for the new version of the PM6006 which is the PM6007. It will have a subwoofer output, upgraded DAC, and 20% more powerful for the same cost. If you are just wanting to use it for audio, go with that one over the NR1200. Good luck.

    I`m here to ask the Internet for some help! I`ve got the NR1200 paired up with the Wharfedale Diamond 12.2 speakers and the quality is ...disappointing to say the least. At high volume (50% up) it`s reasonable (by no means good), but at lower volumes it sounds like my Google Home speaker...with no exaggeration. What could be the problem? It`s been sat on the shelf for about a year cause I can`t stand the sound of it. I`ve checked all the connections and adjusted the sound settings with little improvement. Do I need better speakers ? Should I add and AMP ? Could it be a faulty product ? Thanks in advance.

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tom, your speakers are somewhat low in sensitivity, meaning they do take right much power to come to life. We would suggest you try another pair of speakers, just to confirm the Marantz is ok. It does have preamp out which would allow you to add a separate power amp, if you need all the HDMI connections, that might be a good way to go, if not and you just need a good two channel integrated amp, check out this article www.audioadvice.com/videos-reviews/best-integrated-amps-under-1000/ It sounds like you are hearing a lack of bass and warmth- one other small possibility is the gauge of your speaker cable. It should be 14g or better (the smaller the number the bigger) Thanks for watching

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The NR1200 just has A and B speakers that will both play the same thing. If you are ok with that and both playing at the same volume level you could go that way. If you want independent volume and source, yes you need a power amp connected to the Zone 2 preamp outs, your speakers would then connect to that power amp for Zone 2. I know there's a market for 2 channel home theatre but I don't get it. I really like the idea of the PM6006 but I understand how just an integrated amplifier today is kind of in no man's land. Neither pure audiophile nor versatile enough to be an all in one.
