Hi, iam a new subscriber, i enjoy your videos. My 2007 jk had starting problems. After all the initial checks, I ran a new ground to the engine block,( alternator bracket) and to the frame. I added new battery terminal, that you could add multiple wires. No more standing problems, no turn signal problems and the radio does not blink out any more. Thanks keep up the good videos. Andy.
Hey Andy, thanks so much for subscribing and for the great feedback! Glad to hear the new ground and battery terminals fixed your JK’s issues. I really appreciate you sharing that tip with the community. More videos on the way-thanks again!
Installed Bilstein shocks as well. I was told that I needed to remove the boots on them as they actually trap dust dirt and water. I have 107,000 miles on my JKS. Ordering all new calipers soon but I’ve never replaced one in the ten years
Definitely the best shock you can get for the money ! I’ve ran shocks with and without the boots never seen much of a difference between having the boots on or off . Doing pretty good making it past 100,000 miles without out having to change them out . When I was working at the dealership it was nothing to see one with 40,000 + miles needing calipers
@@ThrilloftheGrille yea i can not believe it but honestly this Jeep has been fantastic to me. The other day driving slow in a parking lot i could hear the caliper squeaking! That’s them! Good call! I appreciate the videos. Bilsteins are great and might be because I live in the rust belt. I took the boots from the rears as they were catching dirt and water but I left them on in the front so I can see from there what’s what that’s why I said that I was told to but not that I saw anything. Thanks for the response!!!❤️

92 k miles 2016 jku, never replaced my calipers. Did place powerstop brakes on it 1.5 years ago with cross drilled vented rotors. Love those. Bought brand new, only issue was the clockspring, and that has an extended 15 year warranty on it from the factory
That’s awesome you haven’t had to mess with the calipers! You definitely can’t go wrong with powerstop brakes they are hands down one of the best out there . I don’t remember if I’ve ever had to replace the clock spring on any of the wranglers
I have a 2012 jk wrangler and yes I had my front right caliper freezing up on me so I went ahead and replaced all my calipers just in case. I was able to get all four on amazon that were already painted red cheaper than the original ones. I bled them myself with no issues or problems and they still work great.
Man I've tried doing ball joints with some of my past vehicles and I swear I had tried everything until I gave up and brought it to a shop. The one thing I never tried was hitting the c-joint while under pressure. Thanks for that tip.
Same caliper seized on my 2016 JKU. I ended up replacing all the caliper's with the larger JLU brakes which have been fine since. Just did my ball joints as well and did the metal cloak heavy duty drag link and tie rod while I was at it. Only have 32K on the Jeep.
I will definitely have to look into JLU brakes ! Might have to try that out on my next JKU build . Metal cloak is one of my favorite aftermarket companies you can’t go wrong with any of there products
Whats the odds this video popped up while scrolling. I was just at Tn trail jam 2024 loretta lynns ranch And on the last day, both of my back brake calipers locked up on the trail. Had to take both calipers off and pinch the lines with vise grips. Good job on the video. Thanks
almost had to replace a rear caliper due to a stuck pin. was able to drill it out and put a new one in without any play. eventually upgraded to teraflex delta brakes. huge difference
Nice man ! It’s always a pain when you’re dealing with frozen pins . The teraflex delta brakes looks like a really nice setup . Might have to try those out on a future build
@@ThrilloftheGrille I bought a cheap one but either way it was easier than cutting and pressing a new bearing.plus didn’t have to mess with the rear brakes. Just install.
Oh Man the dreaded jk calipers . I just put a set on the rear on my buddies jeep . Then had a shocking surprise with my dads jeep thought it was his front calipers ended up being brakes hoses . Has about 40,000 miles on it so definitely surprising
Honestly, I’ve always done it that way, but if it was a customers vehicle I would definitely give them the option to do both. Definitely not a bad idea to just go ahead and replace it while I was there but so far I never had issues just replacing the one that was bad .
Brakes wearing out is NOT an issue from Jeep, that is wear and tear part, looks like YOU didn't take care of ur vehicles, on average brakes last 15k or 6 months depending how much you drive!
Yeah brakes are a wear item for sure for any vehicle I completely agree with you . But the caliper issues are definitely an issue related to the JK and JKU models
Preventive maintainence, bleed the system, esp of you off road through water and mud. 5 yeats 100k on my jkur on 37"s in the salty upper midwest with no problems!@@ThrilloftheGrille
15k brake life span? Only if you ride the brake pedal. 30k minimum for good brake pads. I’d guess 45-60 for most daily drivers with an average 30 minute commute.

Amazon seems to be the way to go any more ! I order just about all of my parts off of Amazon now

Might as well add in redoing the ground wire.terminal for the running lights and blinkers.
I have not had to fix that issue yet . I’ll definitely look into it
I had a leaky rear axle seal. I just bought a whole new axle with the bearing pressed on and new brake assembly. It was pretty cheap actually.
One of the JKU need a new axle seal also . I think I will do the same and probably upgrade shafts that have everything on them ready to just swap out
@@ThrilloftheGrille I bought a cheap one but either way it was easier than cutting and pressing a new bearing.plus didn’t have to mess with the rear brakes. Just install.
I have replaced all 4. Someone had done a pad slap on it before me. Frozen caliper cause over heating of rotors and warped them.
The good old pad slap . Frozen calipers can wipe out a good set of brakes quick
Yup, rear passenger froze up. Put on JT set up with Ss braided lines.
That will definitely go on next time !
Just replaced both front calipers on my 2013 jku with 70k miles

Your beard is glorious
Thanks man !
My slide rusted up and broke off, Also, when I was trying to change the brakes. So I just replace all my brackets and slides..
Sometimes it’s not worth hassling with them better off just replacing them
Nice video! Are you interested in vehicle lighting stuff sponsorship?
Could you please share your email address so we can discuss this further?
Thank you!
Easy as 1 2 3
That’s right !
You did all that work and put a used caliper back on. Knowing of the brake issues, it doesn't make sense to change all but one components.
