I totally agree with you. I bought it back in 2006 for 850 euros and I used it in most of my journeys. I still use it occasionally. I have now a super zoom camera with smaller sensor but much greater zoom. Different orientation, different takes. I think the R1 is, till now, very good for static scenes like portraits and landscapes with good light. I certainly prefer it in these case scenarios than my smartphone.

I got one about two years ago. I lucked out because it looked like it had barely been used. It’s a fun camera, not quite the speed/iso demon that a Nikon D6 is, but still capable of greatness.

Thank you for watching. It is a camera that will have you too slow down and just enjoy taking pictures.

Bought mine new from the first shipment to the UK. Still have and use it. I have many later cameras with higher resolution but for most purposes this does the job. Pity there was no R2 with 20MP!

Thank you for watching! It is possible they started to think they could make more money if they sold you one camera body and multiple lens instead of a one very good camera that might take away lens sells.

I picked up two off ebay. Really like this camera. Excellent results for small investment. I agree that old cameras are fun to shoot with.

I got mine off of eBay. I am going to do a night test with it to see how well it preforms. Thank you for watching.

Great video. What i find interesting is how older camera images can look so much more pleasing than the pin sharp images of today, for macro thats fine but take the Canon 5d classic, stunningly beautiful images, from 2005. Just bought the R1 to toy with. Steve

Thank you for watching. It is a great people camera, every person does not have a pin sharp face.

I have 2 and the extender. For landscapes its superb, (as its slow), on 20x30 prints at f8 the extreme edge is similiar to the centre.
It's also BIG, but to buy that lens would cost £2000.You can pick one up for £100 in UK.

Thank you for watching. My next test will be to test how good it is at night with long exposures.
