Ironwill Broadheads | Solid vs Vented | A Noise Comparison

  • I keep both a solid and a wide vented head in my quiver. Each has its purpose and application. The solid head is deadly accurate and whisper quiet out of my bow to ranges way beyond what I would ever shoot, but it does have a smaller cutting diameter. The Wide vented head carries a much larger cutting diameter but does make quite a bit more noise in flight and has a little more drag out at the further ranges. Its a balancing act to chose which head will work best for your application.

    To tell the truth I believe I'm just picking up the sound of the vanes - your broadheads are exceptionally quiet. Great information - thank you.

      The vented had just a little different whistle to them.

    Your quiver is identical to mine this fall. Only difference is my solids are left bevel and both are not the Snyder Core. I did this test yesterday and to my ear my wide's are much louder BUT I feel this is coming off of the rear of the broadhead. Meaning this whistle is what we are hearing as shooters because I don't hear a substantial difference in your video but there is some. I am shooting the Max Stealth vanes with my wides but on my solids I tested the AAE Pro Max vanes with OUTSTANDING results! Yes they are small but for some reason they stabilize incredible. I have done them in a 3, 4 and 5 fletch configuration and all did great. You should try them if you are looking to shave a little more weight off of the back of your arrow. Both AAE Bitz Knobs for these work wonderful. Thanks for another great video. Your videos are very good and your delivery in front of the camera is awesome!!

      Man I appreciate it. Thank you. If I’m shooting a 3 fletch I like a little larger profile vane personally. I have tested the 4 fletch and saw great results but I wanted to give the heavy 3 fletch helical a try this year. I like it.

    Quiet matters here in NC too! Deer can react to 20 yds shots. My limit on shooting at a whitetail is 40 yds (which I try to avoid) because their reaction times are so unbelievable….and I try to make sure they have their head up when I shoot.

    Iron Will products are great. In my opinion the single bevels are the way to go.
    I’m currently carrying Iron Will single bevels and Grim Reaper Micro Hades 3 blade in the woods with me.

    I haven’t yet seen a video on broad heads were they had a good grasp on the one and only purpose of the broad head. So I’ll share, it’s soul purpose is to cause maximum soft tissue damage period. A two blade head will lose badly compared too a four blade head and yes there are 3 and 4 blade heads out there that will even out penetrate a IW, the IW will lose in penetration due to the thickness of the center section great for durability not for penetration. If you study and understand what a ER surgeon has to deal with in saving a patient who suffers from bullet wounds and why people die from the wounds, it’s soft tissue damage. Think of your IW as a full metal jacket round that is designed for penetration period and a four blade head would be a hollow point which one wins in maximum soft tissue damage 🤔

    I just got some single bevel standards in 100gr. They fly just like field points. I like your idea of having wides and standards in the quiver. Unfortunately, the wide single bevel only come in 150 gr. I wonder how the wide double bevel 100 gr. would fly compared to the single bevel standards.

    Thanks for the comparison, curious how your blood trails were with the wides? I’m looking at possibly the wide solids next year for whitetail. The vented concerns me with the noise. I’ve always shot expandable but the idea of non disposable heads is one I can get down to. Just concerned about the lack of blood trail. Thanks!

    4 elk taken with IWill BH, and 2 hit & busted through ribs, pass-thru shots. All Bulls went down within eyesight too. On one of those bulls, cows closer to my position reacted to sound of shot arrow whistling by. I think more due to vane noise, even with AAE Stealth vanes on my arrow.
    The cow's reaction caused the bull, 30 yards past & behind the cows, to flinch. The arrow hit mid-ribs, double lung placement. Would have been closer to the magic death pocket just behind lower shoulder if bull didn't flinch.

    • @jeffcordero_
      @jeffcordero_  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m sure there is, using the editing program there is a slight bump in audio levels but the biggest different to me is the pitch of the sound. The vented just have a little more whistle to them than the solids. Both a great heads and I’ll continue to use both

    I tried to listen to the whole video before I said anything Jim great job but great job no no complaints about that at all you did also one thing they are not the most durable if you hit them at all against a field point why practice it no everybody feel point broadhead field point broadhead testing testing your stuff it will explode or not Chuck out of them I know they're not Meant to be shooting still though R have still shot into them into them but they will chip ice in a picture 2 iron wheel and never heard nothing back but heard nothing back that's not great customer service you ki wish you know I'm not just that but I think you would be better to go single Bible all the study and all the research I've done and seen single Bible outperforms double Bible on everything I shot above last year put it right on his front shoulder because he was ankle toward me figured I'd blow right through it 550 grain arrow 80 bound bow The 2 blade is designed to when it hits some it will spin off of it not through it In my opinion and that's exactly what this did yes it exploded everything in the shoulder but it went forward instead of going straight through it rolled toward the front therefore not even entering the animal you wanna cross his brisket it cut every major artery cause I have them scary a** sharp and he walked about 15 yd and lay down and died but in my opinion if that would have been like a square nosed single devil I feel like it would explode in his shoulder drove straight through On top of that you can't really get nothing Bing from any of these other dealers that's decently priced that's a decent grain weight you gotta buy 250 or 300 grain broadheads because they don't have nothing in stock iron Will uses amazing metal amazingly sharp out of the Box and INo that this is when he 1st got started so I might kind of slipped through the fingers on the customer service bar I understand that understand that they're a good company I believe they make a d*** good product but his workload is very high also so they also so I can see in my opinion there they're good and it's need to use single Bevel

      I've got a friend who uses them....he shot a really nice 10 points Whitetail this Year, I think it dressed out at 223 or something. He said the arrow zipped right through him and he stood there till its hind legs started to buckle, took off and piled up about 20yds away. He was really impressed by the performance.
