I’m looking forward to seeing him calm and collected no matter what. It’d be extra interesting if they can manage some sort of anti-hero twist to his story where he and ahsoka come to some mutual arrangement. Maybe this alternate galaxy has an even greater threat to the Star Wars galaxy and thrawn volunteers to stay and guard the hyperspace lane.
Fully agreed with you! However, I think there is virtually zero chance Thrawn is going to be portrayed correctly in the live-action shows. If it's not blindingly obvious by now, the live-action Disney Star Wars shows are for, uh, shall we say, less intellectually demanding fans (𝘈𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘳 possibly notwithstanding). They're not shows made for sophisticated adults. So far 𝘈𝘩𝘴𝘰𝘬𝘢 is proving to be no exception. That prospect that a character like Thrawn is going to be handled with all the sophisticated depth that the character is known for is a tall one. This is part of the reason I can't get too excited about them.
A man of necessity in a cruel empire is bound to speak their metaphorical language to get things done, this is what I believe thrawn in the show was doing with his crew. This could mean that live action Thrawn will be truer to the legends variant since the empire is technically gone.
I know thrawn mainly from the thrawn trilogy by Timothy Zahn, who created the character in the first place. You know, the story with Mara Jade, Luke and all the other OT characters. In case you don't already know it, i highly recommend you to check it out. This should have been the sequal trilogy if you ask me. But sadly it is not canon, although it is the thrawn we know and love. He always tries to get the best outcome with the smallest investment. So i absolutely agree with you. Killing the worker on lothal is not necessarily evil - it is logical. At least for an imperial. Make an example out of one of the workers who sabotaged the production and the others will fall in line. And he is absolutely loyal to the emperor. To the point of fanatism. So he stopps at nothing to achiecve the emperors goals. In live action thrawn should be portrayed as cold and calculating. But not outright evil. He only chooses violence if he deems it necessary. He should be the same controlling and manipulative tactical genius we know him as. Every word he says must be precisely chosen and he should have his typical cold but somewhat polite demeanor. And of course his love for art. After what i saw last week i think we could actually get to see the thrawn we want to see. The way i know thrawn - he should already have made plans to return to the galaxy. Maybe he even managed to prepare a small fleet or something. I guess the Eye of Zion is supposed to transport the Chimaera back to the galaxy. Who knows what's going on over there. But one thing is for sure: He wouldn't have wasted his time in exile.
What do you want to see from live action Thrawn?
@tafmc2406 hopefully we get that 👍

Maybe that would be good to see definitely.
